Saints Row thread

  • 🐕 I am attempting to get the site runnning as fast as possible. If you are experiencing slow page load times, please report it.
I sort of liked STAG, but I do agree that it felt a level too high; It really should've been the National Guard that was used in its role; it's still a bit overtly forceful, but considering the violence enacted in the city, it's pretty reasonable. STAG probably would've happily worked in a Saint's Rowesque Red Faction or something like that.

For extra discussion, what's you guys' favorite gang? Mine would probably be the Sons of Samedi, although I do have a fondness for the Ronin since my favorite vehicles to drive are motorcycles.

I'm gonna say the Brotherhood, because I think their missions were the most fun. Like when you have to break up their meeting with that group of Europeans (who I'm convinced are the Morningstar), or when you storm their base with an army of Saints. It helps that the Brotherhood plot is so dramatic.

I also have a Brotherhood shirt I got of Redbubble.

That's was kind of my problem with 3, the first thing you do is destroy the National Guard, the scene where the Saints show up and the Guard run in terror really ruins any feeling of danger. I mean if your gang can destroy the army what hope do other gangs have against you. STAG was basically the EDF from Red Faction.

I like the Ronin because you kill so many of them and they always seem like a real threat. They had the balls to attack the Saint's Headquarters and still were able to raise the man power to attack the Chinese Heritage festival. Also they wound Gat and shoot up a hospital and a funeral like real bad guys instead of just smoking light bulbs and getting Tattoos. I loved the siege on the brotherhood base just because it was one of the times your gang actually does something beside sit around while you kill everybody.

I actually thought the Rollerz from the first game were really interesting. Most because the shit they do in later missions caught me off gaurd and actually gave me some pretty intense feels. I mean the whole game they're played off as just some dumb rich kids who saw too many racing movies and decided to start up a racing gang. And in the later missions they brutally murder Lin, you barely escape dying with her, and on the last mission their boss (the Vin Diesel knockoff) goes on a fucking rampage in a huge as shit truck. I mean their primary business was just racing cars, I didn't expect so much stuff to go down with them. They're not my favorite gang but they were pretty damn cool.

Oh man, if anything the Saints Row games remain one of my all time favorite franchises. Possibly my favorite is SR2 due to just being able to explore a larger Stilwater and tons of activities to do. 3 and 4 were awesome, even if 4 was shorter than 3 and had super powers.

I can't wait for Gat Out of Hell, seeing how I'm getting a PS4 for my birthday, and the SR4/Gat bundle is what I'm aiming for.

I had fun with a game of SR2 as Dr. Wily. Especially since I cheated in the UFO for him to go around in. My one regret was no German voice to fully maximize my autism. Still, it was fun having a sprightly old man chuck satchel charges around the trailer park and escape in his personalized UFO.

I'm going to also chime in and say: If collecting achievements is one of your influential factors towards buying Saint's Row, don't. Saint's Row 4's community uploading hub has been down for at least half a year, and there is little to suggest that Volition will be fixing it. Very uncool.

Gat out of Hell felt like it was worth exactly $20. It's definitely not a full game but it's got enough work put into it and enough side things to do you could spend 10 hours on it, which is a fair trade.

Also the cut scenes are fucking delightful.

Sounds a wee bit on the short side, unless it was the whole section and thus replayable. Then again, games to me are worth it when I get something like this:

$1.00 = 1 hour
