Saints Row thread

What still bothers me is the unknown progress on fixing Saints Row 2 - it seems to have fallen on the wayside after Mike Watson passed away.
At the very least it was still made playable by the modding community.
Was this an issue with the PC release or something? Last time I played SR2 it was on PS3, stopped keeping up with the series after 3. Tried re elected about a year ago but that was it.

And with that note I'm so fucking glad I didn't get the game the other day despite hovering over the buy button for a while.

Faggotry doesn't deserve to be rewarded.
Lol I almost bought it too. That fucking art style man, it's like some animal shit where certain colors on an animal mean it's poisonous/venomous and to stay away. That faggot tumblr shit style always has some soy-laden retard behind it, every single time.

The PC port is notoriously awful. Biggest problem with the gameplay is the driving because of the differences in joysticks and keypresses not being considered and causing 90 degree turns when you just want to switch lanes.

You violated the NAP and forsook neutrality after posting objectively false statements. I'll see you in court and I look forward to owning your mother's house and evicting you from my basement.
Thrown out of court on the grounds that you're a faggot.

Nah I should have been clearer. Seems like enemies are/can be tough but not in the way SR3 had it. More like they get up again after being downed.

I recommend watching some of the leaked/early no commentary gameplay.

On the subject of the PC port, that blows. I have fond memories of SR2 on ps3. The GTAIV PC version is similarly shit compared to the Console version

One of the trophies details being "betrayed by a friend."

I betcha it'll be that bowtie wearing motherfucker.
He is an Elon fanboy, a guy considered cancer by twitter tards, and is clearly a rip-off combo of Dex and Pierce...

Either that or they have you be friends with someone in that paramilitary unit the Boss worked for in the leaks and they betray you instead.

Let me break this down then.

Far Cry 3 Setting: Fictional Island Setting
Far Cry 3 Enemy/Antagonist: Racially ambiguous evil cartel/gang leader who rules the island, and his gang.
Far Cry 3 Protagonist: Unfortunate Tourist who's goal is to avenge his brother and friends.

Far Cry 4 Setting: Fictional Himalayan Setting
Far Cry 4 enemy/Antagonist: wierd pink suited leader guy, and his goons. Again, a leader with control.
Far Cry 4 Protagonist: You as you try to spread your mom's ashes in her home country.

Far Cry 5 Setting: Real US State, with scenery based on actual areas.
Far Cry 5 Enemies/Antagonist: literally the people who lived there who have formed a cult.
Far Cry 5 Protagonist: You, as a federal agent

Lets narrow it down then

3: You, as individual, good guy. Fictional location Leader, bad guy.
4: You, as Individual, good guy. Fictional location leader, bad guy.
5: You, as government tool, good guy. Cult clearly designed to be trump supporters set in real life location? Bad guys.

Also Keeping in mind that in Far Cry 5 you as the player set off the conflict, not the cult.

Anything after 5 doesn't really matter, since New Harvest or whatever it was called was an expensive DLC for 5, essentially, and FC6 was literally just pandering woke shit and clearly nothing else mattered to the dev team besides "trans people and you can pet the dogs"

Far Cry 1 was after the apocalypse, Far Cry 2 was very much a spin on real world events in Africa and didn't try to hide that, it was a fantastic game because of how brutal it was

Being a game journalist would suit you. You definitely lack the eye for detail.
Lmao, "trump supporters".

I still remember how some morons were creaming themselves at the idea of shooting alt right chuds and were very disappointed when they found out that the cult is EXTREMELY diverse. (i.e. extremely safe, we wouldn't want any specific ethnicity to feel targeted!)

Not to mention how the leaders of the cult avoid mention of even the vaguest political talking point. Its just a bunch of drug trips with some talking heads waxing poetic about nothing.

And that's what these games have to say: nothing. It's all marketing. For 5 Ubi just made a passing mention of politics and rural America before release, and retards from both sides of the barricade collectively shat themselves and generated a bunch of free buzz for the game. Which, again, was extremely safe and had no real message beyond "lol what if crazy cult is right!?!?"

It's the same for Saint's Row. Oh, shirtless guy is pansexual? How's that gonna come up in the game, beyond him maybe making a pass at a dude one time? If even that.

They're trying to market the game, but there's no buzz because nobody gives a shit about it.

"Eye for detail" my dude it ain't that deep.

lolno, GTAIV was demanding (partially due to not being optimised for multi core CPUs) when it came out and has some bugs at high framerates, but it looks and runs better than the console versions

the 360 version is like 20FPS in Algonquin and that's still better than PS3, shit was painful, GTAIV only became a decent experience on console when it became backwards compatible on xbone

Hell, modders managed to get even more out of IV on PC through DXVK. It's also recommended to use it for Saints Row 2, except SR2's PC port is even shittier than GTAIV's and you need a properly modded .exe for it to run with DXVK without crashes. And I only found that .exe in a issue discussion for DXVK, but it allowed me to run SR2 on Windows with DXVK without any crashes, it's a very solid experience.

Speaking of which, maybe they shouldn't have made the Cult's song so weirdly catchy.

I don't even like country music, yet it's kinda catchy.

I think it might be a confusion from EFLC, there's more work behind retarded anti-piracy measures than there is in optimising the game.

With GTAIV I had a pretty good experience on PS3. My PC experience wasn't bad per say but I definitely had alot of issues with densities and framerate, that I didn't have on console. I always chalked that up to the aforementioned optimization issues, but I'm no techie so I never looked any further.

I've been trying to find it, but there's an interview somewhere with one of the devs of FC5, like one of the lead guys, where he throws a lefty cry fit about how this game is about what's happened to America under trump and how the cult represents the evil taking over the US, he also goes on some rant about how he's so glad his kids don't have to live there because they would suffer under the EBBBILLL. Its a giant shitshow and it's why I never bought the game new, and waited til I found a used disc copy for $15.

However I do agree: alot of it is marketing. For both games. Although I'd say fc5 less than srb.

The funnier bit is that it's meant to be an anti-gun song, because "muh alt right trump cult having guns bad", but it got the Yankee Doodle treatment of being appropriated by gun owners as their little anthem. And Ubisoft got so butthurt when Rittenhouse got acquitted and people were writing comments in his support under the official song video that they turned the comments off. :story:

The cult in FC5 was mainly focused on religious extremism in the most general way possible. You could literally replace it with any other ideology or religion and nobody would care.

Standard Doomsday cult wasn't it?

Except this one was right.

As the case with anything in 2015 to onward, Ubisoft and many big AAA dev teams act as if they're political which they are not. They are mindless sheep giving other people bad ideas.

Side note:
Cult of the Lamb is an indie rogue-like game that's gotten popular over the last few days. People combed through one of the dev's tweets and found this a few months back when the first SR trailers dropped.

I like how he ends a statement about how inclusive the game is by saying that it's good that games are excluding white people.

I was pleasantly surprised until he revealed that he doesn't actually want a game for everyone, just a game white men are excluded from.
