At the end of the day the game was written by roasties so white women will get the top of the line spot because they're just being performative about their virtue signaling.

I saw a comment on youtube the other day that mentioned the writing and cutscenes are written just like a sitcom. And as someone who has been exposed to an unhealthy amount of sitcoms they totally fucking nailed it. The beginning of the game when The Boss walks into the Apartment is written just like how a character would get a laugh track or a cheer from a canned studio audience when they walk in, and every interaction between the main four is some kind of goofy aside with punchlines that feel like they were ripped right out of an episode of Big Bang Theory.

This was written by women who consume sitcoms as their primary source of entertainment. No fucking wonder it feels so cringy and out of place.

Yeah, I just finished the Matt Miller fight in SR:TT and all I could think about is how there wasn’t an option to throw him off of virtual cyberspace or whatever. If this was Saints Row 2 the boss would’ve responded to his weapons discounts by saying “you do realize I’m a criminal, right? I can just steal whatever I want” before turning Matt into a vegetable. Also, the Boss takes way too much shit from Kinzie and nu-Shaundi. I’m still waiting for the moment he tells both of them to fuck off but I’m afraid that doesn’t happen in the story.

Yeah, not only does that not happen. SRIV has Kinzie take it a bit further.

I'm still so baffled as to why they practically made her a new character all together
And why they gave her a boob job.

It's hilarious considering she stills get kidnapped and the canonical final mission is a Veteran Child repeat

If you look into it SR3 was actually rewritten a bunch of times to make it less dark. Apparently Killbane was going to nuke Stilwater, not just blow up the bridge, so all the prior game's characters would have been killed in the explosion. Wouldn't be surprised if Shaundi was going to be the major casualty there.

I remember reading about Killbane nuking Stilwater (terrible fucking idea, glad they didn’t go with that) and saying they were going to kill off some characters, but I wouldn’t have expected Shaundi to be one of them.

So, been doing some research as it's been awhile since I actually went thru and played SR series.

The reboot is actually, very possibly, Canon.

In the end of Gat Out of Hell, Gat is given a number or choices. Almost all of these are personal, except for one: one where the entire saints row timeline is reset.

The end of this shows gat and kinzie as cops interrogating a character from Agents of Mayhem. Meaning that it is the technically canon end.

This entirely leaves the door open for the New Saints to form in Santo Ilesso, while fitting into the story line.

Pierce shows up in Agents of Mayhem and in his backstory he essentially ran the Saint's in Stilwater instead of the Boss in that timeline. Unless the Reboot's story is even more shit with an implication these nu-Saints just steal their identity from Pierce's crew, I believe this will be it's own universe separate from the original, actually good timeline.

My expectations are currently "Horrendously bad story and characters, decently fun gameplay/content" based on the leaked footage I've seen.

There's quite a bit of information out there that the push for NMS' release was largely sony's doing. Not HG

You cannot say that the new game is canon with the old games when you've outright said that your new game is a reboot, it automatically makes it's own thing, completely unrelated to the old games. That's not how this shit work, events of GTA III are not canon to the events of GTA IV and vice versa because the GTA universe got rebooted with IV.
