Saints Row thread

I still reinstall SR2 sometimes to play coop with a friend because it delivers a fun experience I've always wanted. Which is basically just Co-op GTA. I'd rather play SR2 or SR3 coop even over GTAO anyday.
While SR4 isn't my favorite, it's still stupid entertaining in coop. I mean how could it not be with the ridiculous super powers and shit.

Also I still have yet to find any game that beats Saints Row's character creator, even SR2's tbh. Like GTAO's is fucking dogshit by comparison, it was one of the first things that let me down in that god forsaken game. Like you could make the argument possibly that GTAO has more clothing options but every character looks the fucking same besides the face. Exact same body type for every character which is fucking lame.

I don't think we're ever going to get anything that tops SR2 though. I mean fuck, what other game let's me play as Wingsofredemption? None.
Any game that lets me run around as the Plump Pimp himself is the game of all time.

Finally got some downtime to install SR2 and GOTR patch. Got to the point where you break out Johnny Gatt. The game has crashed on me a few times so far.

Here’s my question. Why do the characters walk and stand so weird and feminine? I couldn’t find a way to turn it off in the game.

If it doesn't work out of the box, I am not interested. I wont spend my time fixing issues the devs themselves never did.
It was an unwilling choice. The PC port was outsourced to CD Project Red from the Xbox 360 conversion. IdolNinja found the source code of the port and wanted to approve an official patch for PC before his death. But, with Volition's closure, it's unlikely that Embracer or Deep Silver would want to do anything with it, let alone the franchise.

Really am enjoying the game. Really enjoyed SR3 and 4. Gat out of hell was okay. Not sure why i slept on this game for so long. Probably because the pc port got such a bad rep.
SR3 is alright. While SR2 will always be my favorite overall, SR3 gets a bad rep for being the so called downfall of the series, which I can somewhat agree with, at least in terms of story but at least the gameplay is still fun.

SR4 is literally just a super hero game tbh. I don't hate it but it's definitely a different experience from the rest of the games so I can see why people don't like it, but it's just such a fucking retarded game that I can't hate it. And I mean retarded in the most positive way I can.

And yeah the PC ports being kind of shit definitely didn't help, though from what I remember the following PC ports post SR2 were widely more stable somehow. Or maybe I'm just lucky. But I remember having way less trouble on PC with the later games.

I had several crashes last night but none tonight. And i did the mission to recruit members and the sidemission to spray shit on buildings.

Yeah, this is basically my take on SR3. It's a lot of fun but in retrospect it was what started the descent in whacky hijinks and science fiction rather than street gang shit. And SRIV is fun for what it is, but like you said, it's a superhero game and quite possibly one of the better ones, but it really doesn't resemble Saints Row. Hell, there's not really even any reason to use vehicles in SRIV, they're really just pointless.

But I would still rather play any of the prior games in the series [including Gat out of Hell] than the fucking reboot. That shit is the definition of soulless.

SR4 is kind of a good Crackdown sequel we never got, but a really shitty saint’s row game. While time has passed, and I admittedly didn’t feel as tricked as I did with the reboot, it still felt like a slap in the face to someone who wanted at least a cohesive story. I won’t lie though, it was nice seeing King and some of the other classic characters again, even though they mostly felt added in to nostalgia bait. The conversation mechanic with homies was also really cool at the time and it was fun to hear references to stuff from the older games.

BOGGED
I did something to my hair, I think.

>*bzzt*
>*bzzt*
>"Yes?"
>"Bogdanoff, he deed eet."
>"He got up?"

Gat gave you a chance, Shogo.
BURY HEEM.
And if you don't dress up for Eesh's funeral, you are a bitch. Real Saints always dress up for Eesh's funeral.

By the way, you know how sometimes the mission car has a specific radio station set? The getaway car in Bleeding Out is set to Klassic 102.4, and in my case I managed to roll Moonlight Sonata when Gat was laid out and drifting away mumbling about Eesh while it was raining. Basically the perfect combination that makes the mission so much more impactful. The other lucky roll like that is having Face Down playing during Veteran Child as you speed towards Cocks.

>Ultor execs bow to the Saints
>in contact with the Zin
>rumoured to possess psychic abilities
>control Stilwater with an iron fist
>own cribs and stores all over the city
>direct descendants of the ancient royal blood line
>will bankroll the first cities on Mars (Saintstown will be be the first city)
>own basically every Image As Designed facility in the city
>first designer babies will be Gat Babies
>all members said to have 200+ IQ
>ancient Greek scriptures tell of two angels who will descend upon the Earth and will bring an era of chaos and unprecedented mayhem with them
>They own Nanobot R&D labs within The Pyramid
>You likely have Saintbots inside you right now
>The Saints are in regular communication with the Archangels Michael and Gabriel, forwarding the word of God to the Orthodox Church
>They learned fluent Spanish in under a week
>Nation states entrust their gold reserves with the Saints. There's no gold in Ft. Knox, only Ft. Saints
>The Saints are 15 years old, from the space-time reference point of the base human.
>In reality, they are a timeless gang existing in all points of time and space from the Saint bang to the end of the universe
>The Saints will guide humanity into a new age of wealth, destruction and hatred

I still can't get over how perfect I got Boss to look like the Bogdanoffs. The Stilwater Overhaul save is now at 100% and it does have some oddities on the mission end screen, and I do miss all the extra shit from GotR, but those saves aren't exactly compatible. Now I'm planning to look into some advanced modding tricks, as it turns out that now, Ultimate ASI Loader supports separate total conversions, or in other words, you can create Overloader profiles, which in turn can let you run separate SR2 mods within the same installation. In theory, as there's still the issue of the saves directory, which Juiced fails to redirect to the game directory with the portable option enabled. I'll try to look if there's an ASI script or something that lets you redirect directories like this. I also want to try and load as many mods via Juiced loose files loader as possible to avoid having to rebuild the patch file whenever you modify the game.

sr2 boss was a legit sociopath, even the rest of the gang were dude you went too far with the brotherhood
That's one of the best parts about the game. It's one of few open world crime games where your character both in gameplay and the story is totally consistent. It doesn't really make sense for CJ or Niko to run around and blast old ladies in the face with how they behave in cutscenes. I totally believe The Boss would, though.

Nowadays the Juiced Patch+DXVK does more to stability and performance than GotR ever did, but that's not to say that you shouldn't use both. GotR adds a whole bunch of extra content after all. I still hope that the Juiced team will do Mike Watson justice and they'll manage to port the DLC's to PC.

SR2 with gotr is as stable as new vegas- the game still holds up
This is my first time playing SR2. New Vegas is one of my favorite games since the turn of the century. SR2 with GOTR is great, even with the graphics as bad as they are. The game plays so good on Steamdeck. But it sucks down battery life.

Got everything done up until the Ultor missions.

Keep in mind he only had Maero crush Jess with his truck as retribution for the brutal slaying of Carlo.
Dragging a man who had nothing to do with your newfound scar across town in a slow death is not equal to an acid tattoo.
The Boss proved he was not only not a person not to be fucked with, but that any attacks on their underlings WILL be returned tenfold onto yours.
It's psychotically brilliant; it shows your members that as boss you have their backs and will scour the earth to find and annihilate your enemies in revenge, and it shows your enemy that for as crazy and violent as you can be, the Boss is not only adept at playing the same game, but better at it than you.
Maero is so morally defeated he has to go ask Ultor for help. The Punk-Rock outlaw has to go look for the top exec suit to even the odds against the Saints and bring back morale to the Brotherhood.
Not even Gat got to 1-up the Ronin that hard following the death of Aisha. The Boss is the leader for good reason and no one will make a better crime protagonist again in contemporary game development.

Jessica was not a victim. If she didn't directly order the specific hit on Carlos, she at minimum helped carry it out. Players seem to forget that detail. She tried to play hard, and she lost. Big. Doesn't matter what was between her legs.

She likely cooked up the idea; it was clear that she was at least one of the minds behind the Brotherhood, and given how their cutscene intro is them fucking up the barrio and her opinions on Carlos in the first cutscene, you can guess they're at least partially racially motivated too.
