I just want them to take me back to a time where variety of women’s bodies were actually acceptable in the game:

Back before I ever heard of a “body positivity“ movement

Is hating on Saints Row IV a "popular opinion?" What made Saints Row a well-liked series? I'm asking. Personally, I think it's the humor, customization and sandbox within the GTA formula.

Volition themselves said that multiplayer was removed after 2 because it "felt shoe-horned." The horde (Whored) mode in 3 felt more shoe-horned than 1 and 2's multiplayer. However, its multiplayer was imbalanced. I would like them to return to PvP with the reboot.

I don't think Saints Row failed until Gat Out of Hell and Agents of Mayhem.

I don't think Volition has it in themselves to make a decent Saints Row anymore... I also could have sworn they were pretty pozzed at this point and that translates into "NO FUN ALLOWED". Even if I'm wrong on the latter, the former remains true to me that Volition can't do anything right anymore. It's been a steady slide down since Saints Row 2 and they've never climbed back up.

I don't hate Saints Row 3
I started the Saints Row series with 3. I was impressed with its casual approach, wacky set up and similarity to GTA. Casual because it was quite easy in retrospect.

Then I bought 4. Again, SRIV improved on 3 on every level and ended up being one of my favorite open world game despite its recycled world concept from 3. The humor, the variety, the writing, the superpowers, the soundtrack all clicked to make a unique, entertaining, FUN experience from beginning to end.

I bought 1 and 2 on sale for $3 each. Worth every penny. The OG Saints Row reminded me of San Andreas but refined. Serious and funny at the right times with plenty to do and see through natural discovery. Now, I understand the complaints about Volition abandoning their roots from 1-2 to 3.

However, Saints Row was touted for being a "GTA clone" by reviewers. I think that label is unfair, SR took the GTA formula and expanded upon it. It was a great game in its own right. They needed to differentiate itself from GTA's shadow in order to remain relevant as its own thing to the masses.

The thing is, by the time they did that they were already different enough from GTA because of how grounded the series went. They didn't need to go even more wacky tbqh.

But, hey, it's whatever. At least the games were still fun I just didn't like them as much as the first two.

I hope Volition recognizes the opportunity they have for this Saints Row reboot to be successful. Did THQNordic buy Volition or Saints Row? Their track record has proven to be great with Destroy All Humans! and Battle for Bikini Bottom.

There's no new GTA, Watch_Dogs isn't enough. Saints Row has a lot of potential.

A brand new Saints Row is coming. Its happening and we can't wait to tell you all about it!

First off, check out our epic Saints Row Announcement Trailer, shown for the first time at Gamescom Opening Night Live, featuring our brand new Saints – Neenah, Eli and Kevin – The Boss’s ride or dies:

We have our targets locked on a brand new city – Santo Ileso – a melting pot of big city business and darkened alley street crime, the perfect place to start a new criminal empire and the biggest and best playground we have ever created. Also, on a side note, the best Tacos in the American South West, (Chalupracarbra has a certain “kick” to it, if you know what I mean). The law in this city? Never heard of her. You don’t become self-made by following laws, right? Well, if you do – it sounds SUPER boring, so we’ll do it our way, thanks. The city offers a range of criminal ventures to further your interests (and make some sweet cash to boot – rent doesn’t pay itself).

You play as whoever you want in your journey from Newbie to Boss, kicking ass and fighting… well not crime obviously. We’ll talk more about our most extensive character creator ever in time, but it wouldn’t be a Saints Row game if you couldn’t roleplay in a range of roles from bank manager to green-skinned zombie alien monster, would it? Wherever you are in that spectrum, you do you, or.. not, we’re here for it. Plus, as is the custom, we have seamless untethered co-op so you and a friend can create those Saints Row moments together – friendship really is magic.

Check out the full feature list:

  • Witness the Birth of The Saints – Play through an action blockbuster original story full of criminality, extraordinary scenes and signature surprises laced with humor.
  • Discover the Weird, Wild, West – Dive in to Santo Ileso, the biggest and best Saints Row playground ever, spread across nine unique districts surrounded by the vast, majestic beauty of the Southwest Desert.
  • Build Your Criminal Empire – Take over the city block by block, wage war against enemy factions and tighten your grip on the streets with ingenious criminal ventures.
  • Fire Guns. LOTS of Guns – Shoot revolvers from the hip, fire and forget with a rocket launcher, or obliterate up close using melee heavyweights, complete with brutal takedowns. A vast variety of familiar and exotic weapons, all customizable, and all deadly fun.
  • Take to the Streets and the Skies – Blast through urban and desert environments in any one of the cars, bikes, planes, helicopters, VTOLs, hoverbikes, hoverboards, go-karts or equip your wingsuit to swoop around.
  • Unprecedented Customization – Create the Boss of your dreams, with the most extensive character customization suite ever seen in the series, then complete the look with incredible options for weapons and vehicles.
  • Seamless Co-Op – Experience everything on offer with a friend at any time, via fully untethered drop-in / drop-out co-op, skipping the need to take either of you out of the outlandish action; play nice together, or play all new pranks on your team mate. After all, who’s the Boss now?
We know you want more – so you better follow us on our community channels and sign up to the newsletter to become a real Saint and get all the latest!

Get your hands on Saints Row in February 25 2022.

They're ripping off Watch Dogs 2.

WELCOME TO SANTO ILESO

Welcome to Santo Ileso, a vibrant fictional city in the heart of the American SouthWest. In a world rife with crime, where lawless factions fight for power, a group of young friends embark on their own criminal venture, as they rise to the top in their bid to become Self Made.

Experience the biggest and best Saints Row playground ever created; the unique sprawling world of Santo Ileso is the backdrop for a wild, larger than life sandbox of thrilling side hustles, criminal ventures and blockbuster missions, as you shoot, drive, and wingsuit your way to the top.

"Wingsuit," and Just Cause. I half expected a Western moshpit with that setting a la Gun. Hell, I didn't even expect this to be Saints Row.

I wasn't expecting much after Agents of Mayhem and yet I'm disappointed.

I remember Saints Row being about running a crime syndicate (albeit a very sanded down version of a crime syndicate), not Revenge of the Nerds.

Instead of seeing Gat, Shaundi, or (I guess) Pierce, we get a trio of asexual, homogenized, focus group approved allies.

Agreeing with @The Last Stand , this looks like Watch_Dogs 2, Southwest Edition.

Not even a "crime syndicate," a gang trying to reclaim a city against three other warring factions.

This reboot teaser: I was expecting a return to form from 1 and 2. Urban warfare with a down to Earth story with memorable characters, activities and tone relative to that urban fantasy. A story that knows when to be serious and funny.

THIS is not it. "Young friends embarking on their own criminal ventures"? That wasn't what Saints Row was about. They look like college students.
