Salamanderkin, found at http://salamanderkin.tumblr.com/ or her main blog, http://yamemeda.tumblr.com/, appears at first glance to be fairly typical for Tumblr. However, she is actually a truly exceptional individual even by Tumblr standards. Like many Tumblr cows before her, she is an otherkin, as well as a fictionkin, which is (I shit you not) someone who believes they are a fictional character. This is pretty common on Tumblr, unfortunately, but what makes Salamanderkin stick out is that she claims to be no less than twenty characters and animals at the same time: http://salamanderkin.tumblr.com/kinfo

Salamanderkin is constantly "discovering" new things she is otherkin of. She herself admits that she finds new "kintypes" from absolutely anything she becomes interested in. She truly believes that if she thinks about a character a lot, dreams about a character, or likes a character in general, then she is that character. She also frequently mentions her own bizarre behavior in real life. For example, she has the constant urge to eat gems and jewelry (since she claims to be a Sableye, a Pokemon that eats gems), and hallucinates characters from Five Nights at Freddy's wherever she goes.

It's hard to tell if she's genuinely batshit insane, just another Tumblr attention whore, or something in between, but she's an exceptional individual any way you cut it.

That second one just seems so lazy. If you're going to pretend to be a thing, at least try to have something in common with that thing. They're not even trying anymore; they're just picking things they like and saying they are those things.

Though, if we found a batshit crazy otherkin who would be too old for this shit, that would be wonderful.
 
If they feel a need to eat gems maybe they're actually Picachu-kin.
I know we all do stupid shit in our early teens but wow, this is bad.

I always find it interesting when someone decides that rather than find and develop hobbies, talents, and a personality to prove themselves as a person, they just slap _______kin on something and claim they're like that. Vade, that Eugene bloke, and so many other self diagnosers love that shit to death.
 
I thought this was just gonna be a Tumblr otherkin with the common fucking decency to identify as an interesting animal for once.
 
She just seems to like something and decide that's what she is. It's sad to see people who don't think being alike a character or person is enough but literally has to be them in order to be happy.

Like, cosplay or roleplaying usually does it for a lot of fanatical people, but it's kind of sad to see someone who's so scared of forging their own personality that they need to say they are something of someone elses creation.

Doesn't this just simply render her claims of BPD absolutely and completely invalid then?

They don't diagnose BPD until after your teenage years, since teenagers are battered with hormones and just naturally batshit during said developmental stage of life.

EDIT: I'm all for experimenting with one's identity, but doing so in a place like Tumblr is simply going to glue you in place developmentally and throw you down into a deep, deep well of sheer insanity.
