They don't diagnose BPD until after your teenage years, since teenagers are battered with hormones and just naturally batshit during said developmental stage of life.

EDIT: I'm all for experimenting with one's identity, but doing so in a place like Tumblr is simply going to glue you in place developmentally and throw you down into a deep, deep well of sheer insanity.

I think right now, BPD is just the trendiest mental disorder on Tumblr. It's hard to find an SJW who doesn't have self-diagnosed BPD. It's also taken autism's place as their favorite excuse to be a dick to people.

I say we take it easy on her. She's underage. She's probably either in 8th or 9th grade. She has plenty of time to grow out of it.

If she wants to come and talk with us like a civilized human being instead of Tumblr cry-typing, she's welcome to it.

Mhm. Personality disorders in general have become a big thing, but BPD is definitely the most popular. A lot of it seems to come from teenagers who don't realize that emotional instability and a lack of identity are, unfortunately, normal teenage experiences. They see the symptoms of BPD and latch onto it, not satisfied with the real answer "this is puberty, it sucks but it will be over in a few years." (Was anyone when they were that age?) It'd be bad enough if saying "I have BPD!" was all they did, but like you said, they wield it as a "get out of apologizing for my shitty behavior and/or working to better myself" card.
Makes me miss the days when emo kids claiming to have depression was the worst you'd find. *sigh*

Aww, in all honesty I'm sure they'll be alright with most of them growing out of it later in life. Just instead of going through a dumb goth phase their phases are going to be a little different. And a little more embarrassing.

I also imagine that in the future instead of worrying about grandma saying something racist in front of your friends and significant other now they'll have to worry about grandma being triggered because you forgot to ask for her preferred pronouns.

I miss kids going through goth phases. Not as many of kids these days have any appreciation for wearing all black with eyeliner and collars.

Well we've seen how well that went with Vade... considering they're turning into Vade Lite, I'm not sure how well it would go. If anything, they'd run back to their hugbox and cry oppression.
