to be honest, folks like Sam (who is actually alt-right) scrambling to claim a nugget of political influence by speaking to Elon Musk (who is not alt-right, and never will be) kind of contributes to what you meanI think that just the "alt right" in general becoming more cynical and jaded after the last 10 years. There's no vitality in this sphere anymore that I can find. What's there to even say besides the platitudes?
perhaps i'm arguing semantics here and i'm sure what I say will come off as incomprehensible, but perception is a major play sociopolitically. If you hadn't noticed, the difference between "alt-right" and "right-wing" is impossible for the average person to parse nowadays, because guys in suits have all collectively dived headfirst into adopting a veneer of fringe alt right reactionary culture, despite not really identifying with it or abiding by it. to attempt to shoot the proverbial one-sided shit with Elon Musk with a 46 minute video is fucking crazy, why did he even do this? because he became a higher-up? because he owns Xitter? last I checked, Musk is a 54 year-old who couldn't even be remotely considered moderately conservative until maybe like 5-ish years ago. if the man who was born in a country where the White population was a whopping 7% didn't possess White Supremacist values before, it's hubris to assume you can say anything that'll significantly alter that. I know i'm rehashing this, but in retrospect, why on Earth did he see this as worth any of his input or time? [/SPOILER}]
the Alt-right as a whole got absolved into an incoherent slurry, and Sam is somewhat aiding in this, and honestly, alt-right spaces seem generally ecstatic to have sweaty mexicans and smelly asians alike to engage and claim the title for edgy fun. i would've understood the sentiment of "unity" 7 years ago, it's part of what got Trump to win in the first place, but at this point the only thing that appears to set the actual alt-right individual apart from the average bleeding-heart conservative anymore is the undying hatred of the Jew– something most of them will never, ever be on board with. even the term alt-right is kinda dying, it literally just means you say Nigger now, and that might be a big contributor as to why Sam's stuff just doesn't feel as substantial anymore, even when he does try to actually say something. the cultural zeitgeist has shifted in his favor, he doesn't have to work at anything or think about much anymore
