Sam Hyde

I think that just the "alt right" in general becoming more cynical and jaded after the last 10 years. There's no vitality in this sphere anymore that I can find. What's there to even say besides the platitudes?
to be honest, folks like Sam (who is actually alt-right) scrambling to claim a nugget of political influence by speaking to Elon Musk (who is not alt-right, and never will be) kind of contributes to what you mean

perhaps i'm arguing semantics here and i'm sure what I say will come off as incomprehensible, but perception is a major play sociopolitically. If you hadn't noticed, the difference between "alt-right" and "right-wing" is impossible for the average person to parse nowadays, because guys in suits have all collectively dived headfirst into adopting a veneer of fringe alt right reactionary culture, despite not really identifying with it or abiding by it. to attempt to shoot the proverbial one-sided shit with Elon Musk with a 46 minute video is fucking crazy, why did he even do this? because he became a higher-up? because he owns Xitter? last I checked, Musk is a 54 year-old who couldn't even be remotely considered moderately conservative until maybe like 5-ish years ago. if the man who was born in a country where the White population was a whopping 7% didn't possess White Supremacist values before, it's hubris to assume you can say anything that'll significantly alter that. I know i'm rehashing this, but in retrospect, why on Earth did he see this as worth any of his input or time? [/SPOILER}]

the Alt-right as a whole got absolved into an incoherent slurry, and Sam is somewhat aiding in this, and honestly, alt-right spaces seem generally ecstatic to have sweaty mexicans and smelly asians alike to engage and claim the title for edgy fun. i would've understood the sentiment of "unity" 7 years ago, it's part of what got Trump to win in the first place, but at this point the only thing that appears to set the actual alt-right individual apart from the average bleeding-heart conservative anymore is the undying hatred of the Jew– something most of them will never, ever be on board with. even the term alt-right is kinda dying, it literally just means you say Nigger now, and that might be a big contributor as to why Sam's stuff just doesn't feel as substantial anymore, even when he does try to actually say something. the cultural zeitgeist has shifted in his favor, he doesn't have to work at anything or think about much anymore

Why do you think Sam is so obsessed with Elon? He paid like $50k on cameo a while back getting Joe Rogan's friends to try to get Joe to let him come on the show. The most logical reason for the Dear Elon video was because literally everyone was talking about Elon demanding Trump allow unlimited street shitters to come into the country and Vivek backing him up by calling Americans lazy. I doubt he ever imagined he'd get 22 million views on twitter much less get Elon's attention. I guarantee he was happier about getting Rogan's attention than he was to get all those views or than he would've been if Elon responded directly.

I like Sam cause he's funny. I like the rest of the MDE crew cause they're funny. I like Harland cause he's funny. I fucking hate Damiel cause he's not funny.

And I like this whole gorilla nest thing because it's funny. It's funny if it's a bit, it's funny if it's not. Nick's faces throughout the whole thing are funny. Sam being terse and akward is funny. Harland staying resolute is funny. Rubbing it down to the nubs of the phrase "gorilla nest" and the physical action of flipping the desk, it's still funny. The Saturday morning cartoon lesson here is simple: funnyenjoyers stay winning.

i don't think he's obsessed with him! i think he got too ahead of himself, and i think it's an apt case-study of how somewhat inconsistent this movement can often be
You can't really assume that he never even cared in the first place whether or not Musk sits down and watches it when evidence suggests otherwise, not to mention that video is easily the most genuine and articulate Sam has ever been in his entire career
yes, of course Sam likely valued Joes recognition, of course Sam obviously regards him higher than he ever did Musk, that much is obvious. but why put in the effort to dedicate a rather informative video discussing race and other interconnected topics to a man who was historically left-leaning, (until relatively recently) despite the fact that he logically should've been otherwise long ago, is it because he's the richest man in the world, and because he advocated for DJT? I guess that's as fine a reason as any, but it sticks out to me as foolish in the grand scheme of things, especially given what we know now

I must not know enough about Sam or be checked in enough politically. Elon Musk doesn't strike me as someone Sam would want to affiliate himself with other than to increase his notoriety. All the tech-bro types want to replace the West with infinite Indians.
I can never tell if he wants to make money, make art, or make a point. His behavior makes him seem like he can't do any of them effectively, all the while trying to clamor his way back into the spotlight.

lovely and wholesome

I remember Sam having a local rhode island e-thot on his stream basically for the services of his usual antics of humiliating her, however whenever he said something serious and she questioned it or gave any pushback sam hyde would fluster in his inability to explain his position, it sort of highlighted to me that Sam has surrounded himself with sycophants for far too long, that it's made him retarded and conversationally lazy. For people who haven't watched his older stuff in comparison, younger Sam was very critical of others but often highlighted in his own bits a form of self-critique towards his own ideas ie some one who was able to laugh at himself and not take life so seriously. I hope he takes the L and just loosen up a bit, it would definitely help his comedic pursuits at the very least.

Episode 5 of EP is one of the best yet and has some incredibly based charls quotes. MDE never dies. Kikes eternally btfo lol at all the markyposters and cumiafags who called Nick, charls, Erick and Schulz Sam’s “zoomer entourage” coping at the boys making fun of their armchair forensic facial analysis and blowing the unfunny boomer’s bad podcast out of proportion and saying it’s secretly “damage control”

That's because Nick Mullen is an actual comic (who sucks at standup...but lets not get derailed). Joe Rogan -- much like Sam -- is not.
Rogan is a comic as well. And I believe he and Williams are about the same age so they probably started doing stand-up in the same period of time. The snippets of Joe Rogan's stand-up act that I've sampled over the past 15 or so years were not appealing. I think he does much better with his podcast discussions and interviews than he ever did with stand up comedy. I can't compare Harland Williams comedy to Joe's because the only time I saw him on stage was a comedy show he was part off (sorta), with multiple performers. Harland didn't perform though, he was the Master of Ceremonies for the event. I'm definitely not a fan of that "I say random, nonsensical words and phrases, peppered with vulgarity" type of humor that people here have described as William's "style".

I'm not familiar with any comics named Nick Mullen so I definitely can't compare him with either of the others. If he sucks that's a good reason why I've never heard of him.

I never heard of this Harland guy before
He's somebody's bitch.

You can clearly see Sam "feeling" the table like one minute before the "crashout", it's Sam, you guys are acting like THIS of all of the things he ever said or done, this is the WORST and most CRINGE one, you guys need to see Sam looking like a total sociopath while a bunch of teenagers are puking on the floor, this Harland stuff is Jackass level stuff.
ITT people who think the internet is real life and these people arnt all basically actors , anyone who thinks Sam Hyde actually lost his temper and wasn’t just playing a role need to be neutered
