Get back to reality and learn from the fuck-ups of the first season and set your focus on not repeating them. Adequate planning is required for a solid execution. If you fuck that up, the rest of the entire thing is going to be a fucking mess. Winging it can only control the damage from that point. Sure, artistic endeavors need a lot done on the fly, but for a project as big as this (a quarter of a million dollars was the budget of the last season) you shouldn't take chances and build a solid foundation that you can rely on.

y'know, he could have just said he wanted people who were less known or didn't know what fishtank was. He instead chose to be arrogant, claiming Fishtank "advances culture" like he's some sort of modern day Warhol.

I just hope his next lineup is as good as he says he is, I personally can live with the new cast being people the internet has never seen.

Jet had an overblown ego before Fishtank, it just has gotten noticeably worse and more prevalent both during and after it ended. He went into the whole thing with very half-baked ideas and production that clearly flew on the seat of it's pants. The show was a very mild success in spite of Jet and not because of him. Some of the contestants they lucked into were what made it eventful; Jon, Simmons, Letty, Josie, Vance made it interesting in different ways while Damiel, the 'plant' contestant the wigger crew specifically fielded and hand-picked themselves was a void of any sort of content. Instead of stepping back and focusing on production Jet also seemed more interested in using Fishtank to showcase himself, he didn't want to produce the show as much as he wanted to star in and be seen on the show and use it as a vehicle to get attention for himself.

Fishtank made an estimated 1.2 million dollars with a budget of 250k and pulled tens of thousands of live viewers who watched for hours on end. For a niche alternative comedy group like MDE it was easily the most profitable and successful thing they ever did. It also brought in people who might not be interested or like MDE's typical comedy and made them fans. It reached outside of their core audience. I would hardly call a million dollars in profit a "very mild success"

The only major player on season 1 with any noteworthy internet presence was airsoft and he technically wasn't even a contestant. He was just the freeloader who stayed the longest.

Sylvia was an experimental noise musician with a disgusting only fans that nobody subscribed to. Letty wasn't on social media because he ex posted revenge porn of her. She mostly used discord. Josie was a redditor with a deviant art account. Vance had some music projects on SoundCloud and some ancient YouTube videos. Mauro was a generic gay Mexican. I don't remember what social media Jon had other than his shitty sigma gridset drop shipping site. Simmons was a weird Chinese guy who had AI speech to text books self published on Amazon and wanted to be an actor. Damiel was apparently a last minute backup and pretty much just a Filipino druggie trend hopper. That's all of the season one fish.


There were several semi famous internet people who made appearances in the tank but none of them were contestants and they only stayed for two days tops. The vietnamese comedian stayed longer but I wouldn't consider him internet famous. He was moderately successful in his local scene. I thought his speech impediment was a joke at the expense of Jon who had just left but it was real. I still think it's funny how he was a perfect mashup of the first two Fish who left before he arrived and it's what established the lookalike gag throughout the rest of the season. Lance for Vance. Betty for Letty. Someone who's name I forgot for Josie (the worst lookalike) and finally Airsoft for Sylvia.

I was referring more to the cultural impact of the show, in response to Jet's statement about Fishtank 'advancing culture'.
I don't doubt they made money on the project and I don't think they would've gone through with it if they felt it wouldn't be financially successful in the first place.
