Bill Burrs old fanbase feels the same way about his new stuff. He built up a nice fanbase when he was doing antifemisnt/SJW stuff which was funny and refreshing at the time. Then he married a black chick and had his brain cracked from COVID so he turned into some anti-white anti Trump guy and his old fanbase moved on to other stuff. His new material is unrecognizable from his pre-covid material. It's sad because he had one Netflix special that was extremely funny and top tier. He probably disavows it now.

Agreed 100%. It's honestly shocking. I'll give Sam as much shit as anyone else for being a grifter, kid diddler, etc. but it's nice to see an edgy comedian who is actually genuine about what he thinks and feels. With the way Bill Burr flipped completely, you could argue that he didn't really care about the points he made in his comedy and they just came from moid rage against women. As soon as he got a woman in his life, suddenly a switch was flipped and he changed his whole act. Just cringy, beta male behavior all around.

His now wife was his girlfriend the whole time he was great, from after his first album (kinda lame) through the set with the deafened-by-gunfire bit. I don't remember the name of that special or what about it rubbed me the wrong way, but I remember thinking it was the first sign that he was forsaking his gift. Saw him live soon after, on his first big theater tour, and he was almost entirely nü-Burr, not the guy we used to know.

He changed when they got married. She's from a showbiz-bigshot family. Becoming a Hollywood faggot was the "bride price." It's bullshit but I believe it.

The other explanation is that he truly believes that becoming a Man™ requires becoming a shitlib bitch. We have seen showbiz dudes act like that (Steve Albini and Patton Oswalt come to mind) but it's always fake and shows cracks. Burr is in. For years and years now.

With these and the trailer I'm glad were finally seeing look like an actual show in the back of my mind I was afraid this would be 3 hours of gumroad quality sketches

I was thinking about something in the Fishtank thread and realized how much legitimate influence Sam has on the modern counterculture. Most people are still afraid to publicly admit they're fans of his stuff, but look at something like Suicideboys Grey Day Tour. It is one of the biggest rap tours in the world every year and sells out every stadium and arena they book. The headliners have shouted out Sam on at least two songs, and the tour features Bones who has a segment in Extreme Peace and Joeyy, who... is Joeyy.
