Sam Hyde

I'm a fan of Sam and a fan of Harland. No favorites between them, but I'm not a fan of everything either of them they do. Harland Highway does wear thin if the guest isn't also genuinely funny and elevating it somehow, and Sam's content nowadays is not something I seek out regularly.

Both of them just have a very different style of maintaining absolute control of the audience/joke. Harland has developed his version of comedic control for 40 years, and showed it here. Sam's still working out the "overwhelm the host" routine and it fell kind of flat against someone who played along in a way Sam didn't expect.

Sam's edgy tryharding worked against him and he came off as an insecure tinfoil hat wearing meathead. Even Charles, the certified schizoposter, was a better sport on the show.

All he had to do was make the gorilla nest and take a bite out of the seed oil cookie.
You will eat the bugs, you will make the gorilla nest goy

You will NOT expose the heatlamp, buddy. There is no Judeo-Canadian trick to make you sweat, eh.

think people are overreacting to a degree but i can see how Sam might look like a bit of a fragile narcissist here. i just watched bits of Nick Mullen on the show and he seemed able to roll with the punches and they got along and talked about some real things.

I saw the Nick Mullen interview and agree with you. Nick was just able just to go along with the general tone of that podcast and riff with what he's given and give just enough energy to keep it interesting and filling in dead air. I feel if Sam wants to be the Puppet Master of each podcast appearance and have the hosts laugh and be in awe of everything he says, he's better off going on more normie adjacent podcasts like Bradley Martin or the Hodge Twins.

Tipping over someone's desk and then asking them multiple times to come to your show doesn't make for the best use of time. Especially when the host trolls you and cuts away when your trying to shill your new show.

Sam is probably down a notch because Fishtank actually ended in catastrophic failure due to their lack of organization or respect for their audience.

ok you guys know I'm an evil jealous a-log when it comes to Sam Hyde but honestly what the fuck was he thinking. I have no clue who this Harland is but the podcast felt like a feedback loop, where you hold up a mic to a speaker and hear the same thing over and over again until it becomes a piercing screech.

Harland matches Sam's energy perfectly. He's a 60-year-old man who has apparently worked in entertainment his entire life. He's obviously (based on his performance) seen people like Sam Hyde before and knows what his gambit is. Sam seems to think he's a hapless retard boomer who can't possibly understand his young mind and just completely underestimates him.

Nick is someone I respect and who is very funny, but crucially he's also a businessman. He's here to shill their show they've been working on. I'm aware World Peace was a big fucking deal to him and losing that show because Sam crashed out hurt him a lot.

Harland's first gambit is to put the wiggers all on stage. The only people that matter are Sam and Nick. The rest are there to make sure Sam and Nick never go a moment with their penis unglazed. They have no thoughts in their head, nothing to offer the world except glazing, and nothing to contribute to the podcast. Harland seems to have recognized this before the podcast started and made sure they'd all be represented, constantly hassling the pinoy to chime in when there's not a chance he'd be able to contribute anything funny.

Sam seems flabbergasted that Harland has no intention of putting on a serious show and is fully able to keep up with the nonsense thrown at him, to the point where Sam literally has to humble himself and say "When are we getting serious?", which is something that I think is something iDubbbz said word-for-word when interviewing the puppetmaster himself.

The feedback loop becomes a full-blown screech when ACTIVATION PHRASE: GORILLA NEST is spoken and Sam is invited to use prop sticks to build himself a monkey nest. Harland is literally calling him a big dumb gorilla and is inviting him to perform as one on his show. Not wanting to show offense he instead decides to go Gorilla+1 and actively destroy Harland's set. The table is broken and there is at least ten thousand dollars of enterprise studio recording equipment on that table. Harland actually helped push the table over and does not react negatively or change his disposition in any way to what has happened.

Sam has no idea how to react after Harland doesn't respond at all to his studio equipment being smashed. Nick Rochefort literally looks like he wants to die. The camera pans out to show all the wiggers are lined up against the wall like awkward children waiting for their parents to stop yelling at each other.

Sam finally gets asked to plug his skit show. Harland edits out every plug with stock videos in the final cut as an act of ultimate disrespect.

Sam invites Harland to his comedy show. Harland belittles him and gets him to basically grovel to show up.

I've never seen anything like this.

First and hopefully only time I agree with Null on a Sam Hyde happening.

Harland also confirmed in the comments that he didn't go to the show.

Man what I would give to hear the car ride back home the MDE crew had, I'm sure it would be very colorful language.
I can hear Charls saying "What the fuck was THAT??" Although Charls is unfortunately poor and depends on Sam for income so he probably said nothing.
I can almost guarantee you've watched something with him in it but didn't recognize him. Dumb and Dumber, Something About Mary, Freddy Got Fingered, etc.
Rocketman was his best work.

Rocketman was his best work.
Charls got no drive, he stopped streaming and all that after he returned to MDE. He does the Palace drunk and sleepy, insulting Eric Hayden like that.
