Sam Hyde

That appears to be the straw that broke the camels back but there's probably a lot of interpersonal drama as there is with every relationship. Like how Sam's mom lived in a shit box efficiency apartment after the divorce.

Also supposedly the full story is that Sam stored his car (some mid-level collectible) at his dad's who left it to rust outside without paying for repairs and then later asked Sam to pay for his car when Sam wrecked it.

Edit: "call your dad" he apparently emailed him to me d the relationship and his dad responded like a gay guy, according to Sam.
I mean either way it's gay, when you grow up you come to learn your parents might be pieces of shit in some way, but unless they raped and tortured you as a toddler, you also need to come to an understanding that they love you in their own way, and let petty bullshit like a car go.

Edit: re: the email; I think Sam is an unreliable narrator here, I'm sure the apple doesn't fall far from the tree in terms of being a stubborn asshole, but I also don't buy the thread was totally severed over a fucking car on Fred Hyde's side despite Sam's attempts at an Olive Branch, if such a thing ever really happened to begin with. I also have a narcissistic boomer dad, and a similar story to Sam, and I was able to mend the bridge, so I tend to think it has a lot more to do with the kind of ego a guy like him develops living with Mommy after the divorce than it does with his dad being an unrepentant asshole.

I know Mike is hated on here, and to some extent I get it, but he's the best in the game in my eyes when it comes to dismantling what makes this new era of "edgy" Joe Rogan comedy so gay. An All timer clip.
Not to derail too much, but he nailed it right at the beginning when he said "Joe doesn't like comedy, he likes discussing the culture war". Which is why it's hilarious that he's a Kingmaker for the current comedy scene as he's completely lost touch with anything resembling funny.

To tie it back around I can't imagine Sam being earnest on JRE. He'd try to do some similar big dawg thing on Rogan. Which is why the Harland clowning on Rogan was so funny, Joe puts himself squarely within the "250 comedians in the world" he claims exist yet he completely melts down to a tame Tom Green or Harland bit.

Harland did to Joe what Sam dreams of doing.

It's barely a joke. It was to show how he could essentially stare Joe in the face with a sign over head flashing "THIS IS A JOKE" and Joe somehow still couldn't get it.

He convinced Joe he had a tapeworm and needed to eat every 20 minutes and pre-applied fake bear scratch marks to his chest because he knew Joe Rogan is such a hack retard that he would bring up bears. And then when Joe brought up bears like the hack retard he is he took his shirt off to show his bear claw scars.

The whole thing was just to fuck with Joe and expose how Joe "only 250 comedians in the world" Rogan is a fool.
Just watched this, Harland Williams is fucking hilarious and it’s a shame I’m just now hearing about him. Sam Hyde basically did PR for him by flubbing his interview lol

The amount of people in this thread seething about Sam taking an L is mind blowing to me. This thread is an anomaly for me because it seems to harbor a bunch of people that thinks that Sam Hyde can do no wrong? Kind of unprecedented for a kiwi thread.

Edit: Case in point. Hello wigger.

What are you talking about? People defend right-wing losers here all the time.

It totally could be a lie but he showed his dad's reply to Chris Lynch on stream who went along with it. Whether or not it's real really depends on how much you believe Chris can roll with an off the cuff bit like that so who knows. Also seems like a weird think to bring up unprompted only to sound like a fag yourself by sharing personal drama.

I could see it going either way, I could also see the email being real but not as bad as Sam made it sound. However it being real sounds like the best explanation to me atp.

Like I said, either way, having a seething hatred of your dad pushing 40 is so fucking gay, and not just having a bug up your ass about it in conversation, but incorporating it into your creative output makes you look like such an insecure queer.

That said the Porsche sketch from Ep 2 was really fucking funny.

A lot of what Charls say there seems to be true imo, like Sam being more of a publicity stunts guy than a creative/funny guy. Thats exactly what happened on the Harland show, he couldnt come up with jokes and just did something shocking which resulted in the show gaining a lot of attention. The episode with Sam has way more views than a lot of the other ones in Harland's channel. Maybe that compensates for trashing the set lol.
And this isn't a bad thing at all, certain people have certain strengths. That's why you need to have all three of them together for that MDE magic, or all 4 of them if you include Erick Hayden. They each have their own strengths and they bounce off of each others eccentricities nicely.

On a separate note, I kind of understand some people not liking episode 5 as a whole. I think the female comic sketch with Sam was the weakest sketch in the show so far. That said, the prom sketch throughout the episode was one of the best comedy sketches I've ever seen in my life.

I just do not understand how anybody finds this Harlan guy funny. It's just a bunch of retarded lolsorandum nonsense. Most of it is, like, extremely jewish weird gauche teenage sex humor. Haha I'm talking about eating pussy! Haha I made a joke about catholic priests being pedophiles even though that was getting stale 20 years ago! Aren't I edgy? I'm so subversive!!!
I think Harlan purposefully put together a shitty purple-monkey-cheese-dishwasher script to disrespect Sam, because Sam has done similar bits with his own guest. I think Sam wanted to do a quick plug-n-go on Harlan's show, and Harlan wasn't having it. I think that the whole Gorilla Nest bit signaled to Hyde that he was just there to be Harlan's roid-raged clown, so Hyde gave up and pushed over the desk, fulfilling expectations, and could then leave without doing the rest of the purposefully lame monkey-cheese-dishwasher script.

I don't think it was kayfabe. I think Harlan did extensive homework and trapped Hyde quite neatly, even using some of Hyde's own techniques against him. I've never been so aggravated and annoyed while watching a brilliant performance, great job Harlan.

I kind of dig the redbar vids that get posted here because the guys seems to have an unapologetic opinion. Even to the degree that he’ll catch flak with his audience. He reminds me of a radio host from the early 2000s. Not subbed but will usually watch the clips that get shared.

Yeah I get that, at the end of the day Sam is the one with the better work ethic who gets shit done, Charls said so himself. The problem is his ego and when he can't control his autism and sabotages his more talented friends along with him.

(promise ill stop derailing about Joe Rogan and Redbar in a second lol)
Not worth subbing as he currently is only doing 1 show roughly every 5 weeks for this season. Unless you really like him and want to see the back-catalog archive. Mike is an interesting guy as he plays such an over the top character that it's easy to shoe-horn your own opinions onto him and assume there's an overlap. About the only time he does break character is when he begs his audience to not be extremists/radicals as he has lots of right-wing fans basically because he says Nigger.

Again I'll tie it back to Sam for the sake of the thread and the derail. On Redbar's last show a few days ago he again mentioned Sam and (paraphrasing) said "Sam is a funny guy, but he's too radical. You leave him alone and you let him do his thing". So he seems to at least acknowledge Sam has it within him to be funny. But it's hard to tell what Mike truly believes as he is a performer and doing a persona.

Yah, not to derail the thread any further, but Red ar and his wife are very good at boiling down the mannerisms of people that they rag on to dissect for comedy, and aren't afraid to shit on sacred cows, even people they and their audience are on good terms/in regular communication with like Tim Dillon's former producer's show (Lemonparty, basically Cumtown 2.0)

I get people's critique of them here that they'll put out a show every 2-3 months that's 11 hours long and barely 3 hours of it are worthwhile, but the bits of it that are never fail to get a laugh out of me.

I imagine they'll get a lot of mileage out of this Harland spergout when they finally come back. Maybe Sam will join Joel Mchale in the ranks of "fake hunks".
