Really he's more funny as a performer than he is telling jokes. Harland took the piss out of Sam the whole time, remained composed, and made everyone in the room laugh while doing so; He performed a Mortal Kombat Babality on Sam Hyde and turned him into a table-flipping toddler and even then he didn't give Sam the reaction he wanted, not even putting hands on him worked. Sam simply got out-trolled, and there is no need to be upset. Harland did all of this 1v6 as well, youtube ""comedians"" can't compete with the old guard

This is what makes it so funny. "Sam Hyde got mad and flipped the table" really understates how hilarious this episode was in full context.

Sam was on edge basically from the beginning, everything he came up with in response to Harland was uninspired crap, and then eventually Sam just straight up asks him when he's going to get serious and tries to grab his notes to see if he intends to ever get serious, basically admitting he's not good enough of a comedian to interact on equal terms and instead is in the role of the Craigslist actors he hires.

Then he flips the table and manhandles some guy 20 years his senior who, unlike Sam, hasn't been roided up for the past decade. I get that Sam's fans insist that his roid rage is actually an amazing bit where you need an IQ of 200 to understand the irony, but at a certain point it just becomes obvious that it's not a "bit". He lashed out because he felt emasculated and it's become pretty obvious he likes to surround himself with talentless drug addict Zoomers because they don't question him.

And when he gives Sam a chance to plug his shitty show after Sam trashed his set Sam makes a passive aggressive comment about how long it took and then is similarly passive aggressive about everything Harland said in response. He was rattled and emasculated.

The table flipping wasn't funny at all compared to what's around it, what makes it funny at all is Nick reaching over and desperately trying to hold the table up even though he's nowhere near a proper position to hold it up, even after Harland has already decided to let the table go down.

That's one of the more depressing parts of the topic these days. Instead of focusing on the catholic church specifically covering up rapes, people just make the association of rape and priests to the point people unironically think all priests are rape fiends.

It misses the entire original point and now people have to push back on it with actual statistics. The original problem was with specific powerful priests in the church raping hundreds of children and then covering it up, not that all catholic priests are pedo rapists and there were just hundreds of thousands of pedophiles in every church.

I get being wrong about it for the sake of comedy 20 years ago back when it was still fresh and all the average joe really knew about it was that some priests raped kids, but we've got decades of hard data about the subject now. The "hur hurr catholic priests amirite" bit is completely stale and completely misunderstands the original incidents.

It's like if peoples takeaway and jokes from the Epstein controversy was that all people who own airplanes are child rapists, and for the next 30 years when you tell people you own an airplane you get dirty looks and people don't trust you near their kids.

As a fan, I'm bemused more than disappointed over how badly he got thrown out of the ring so many times. Nick dying of cringe and mumbling to himself mid-panic attack as Sam repeated his mistakes of the past was something else. It's like he watched the David Lucas episode of Matan and said "that looks effective."

He's obviously (based on his performance) seen people like Sam Hyde before and knows what his gambit is. It was refreshing seeing someone run circles around Sam until he crashed out.

Sam came across as a comedic hack with no idea how to respond to Harland especially when Sam's patented 'Loud and break stuff = funny' bit bombed because Harland wasn't even phased by the desk flip.

I cannot stress enough how much of a "must-watch" Harland's last appearance on Joe Rogan Experience was. Another great example of what happens when a non-comic (sorry Sam) runs into Harland. If you can stomach Redbar I strongly suggest Redbar's coverage of it.

That's because Nick Mullen is an actual comic (who sucks at standup...but lets not get derailed). Joe Rogan -- much like Sam -- is not. Both are roid-tards that can't take a joke or tell one and both of them have angry reactions to Harland. Some sort of gay insecurity where you can't riff.
