Satanist Community - Lolcow Religion of Edgelords

This thread is really funny. Who'da thunk there'd be no unity under Satan, especially when 99% of people who subscribe to these beliefs literally only do it out of spite.
It's pretty funny satanists rip on Christians for sectarianism, but in a few decades Satanists have created Order of Nine Angles, COS, TST, Temple of Set, Joy of Satan, First Church of Satan, Global Order of Satan etc, none that get along with one another.

Part of this was already covered, but Wikipedos have unearthed some new stuff on Greaves:

Greaves caused controversy for employing the lawyer Marc Randazza, known for defending Andrew Anglin of the Daily Stormer among other notable alt-right figures. The former TST Los Angeles chapter said Randazza was “not a neutral actor” but rather “an ally to Nazis and to alt-right provocateurs. Disaffected TST members also unearthed a radio show Greaves did with Shane Bugbee (another future TST member), who has promoted the neo-Nazi RaHoWa (band) and Might is Right. In the show Bugbee told he would get “get six big niggers” to rape the “fucking fag” Thomas Thorn and Greaves referred to “nigger sodomites” and called himself “an Aryan king.” Bugbee and Greaves also said they supported eugenics, and in response to a caller denying the Holocaust, they professed their hatred of the Jewish people. Greaves also interviewed the neo-nazi George Burdi and Tom Metzger. Greaves also held an event at the new TST headquarters in Salem, Massachusetts, linked to neo-Nazi satanist Abraxas Circle, and was attended by James Porrazzo of the American Front. In June 2017, two months before Charlottesville, Greaves condemned what he described as a “screaming mob of mindless fascistic ‘anti- fascists’” who were “ignorant little assholes" because they had pressured him to remove Augustus Sol Invictus from an event.[174][175]

I can't decide if Greaves chose the right or wrong audience to grift off: The redditor feminists always fork over cash because of their abortion lawfare, but does it outweigh living a very precarious existence where every old bad deed could come to bite him in the ass? The social justice types are like Stasi, always looking for misdeeds to fuck their friends over.

I wonder how much it is Greaves finding liberals are a much more lucrative paypigs than neo-nazis, and how much of it is just him "growing as a person" aka stopping saying the N word.

Spend enough time on Satanist FB pages and you will encounter some hilarious lolcows. I may have to look up some old specimens I used to follow back in the day. E A Koetting is particularly cow-like:

Didn't Satanism as we currently know it today started out as an edgy parody religion in the 1960's (kinda like the Flying Spaghetti Monster meme of the 2000's) that would achieve official religion status later on?

Based on what I know about contemporary Satanism and the Church of Satan in general, the whole thing is basically just a LARP compared to actual medieval Devil worship and black magic during the time of the knights.

Kind of. Anton LaVey, creator of modern Satanism, was a weirdo into carnivals, performance art, and libertarianism who came to idealize his view of Satan as what people should be like. It wasn't really a joke or parody to him, and by his own admission, he didn't think it was for members of the Church of Satan either.

The original parody Satanists were probably the 70s/80s rock and metal musicians who used Satanic imagery or songs about Satan, but didn't actually adhere to any sort of Satanism or Satanic philosophy. To them it was a way to piss people off and seem badass. Although there were real, actual Satanists in those scenes, like apparently the reason Ozzy Osbourne and the rest of Black Sabbath wore crosses and used it in their iconography was because they had Satanist fans obsessed with them and they would have opening bands who literally worshipped Satan, and Tony Iommi IIRC thought it was creepy, so the father of one the members sent them some crosses as protection.

And there were always actual Satanists who literally worship Satan around. They're usually very mentally ill edgelords who murder animals or sometimes people, but there are others who never committed crimes. I suspect they blended in well with above two groups I mentioned. By the 80s and 90s you started to get more actual philosophy from this sort of Satanist even if it's mostly just cribbed from Gnosticism, ancient Sumerian myth, or reverse Christianity/Judaism. A lot of Scandinavian metal bands like Dissection and Therion had members who followed this sort of Satanism, and it was definitely not a joke or solely about being edgy.

I've noticed that Satanic Temple, while they seem to be a parody on the surface and in their official writings, appears to have actual practicing Satanists among them who believe they have magical powers that let them do Satanic rituals and shit. I think it's because they have a big crossover with Wiccans.

From what I've seen from my interactions with satanists online, they're either safe edgy psychopath troons or terminally online discord e-girls that will try and place a hex on you over the slightest plight.

Just say that much like how a god (or rather a divine entity) holds no power over you, say that satan is purely a symbolic entity too, and that their hexes hold no power over you either, and that the latin verses they say is just pretencious horseshit.

A lot of "satanists" are just edgy atheists who want to piss off Christians, there's literally no other reason to call yourself a satanist other than the fact you're mad someone believes in Jesus. But to some degree there are some "real satanists" who believe in crazy shit like aliens and "luciferian knowledge"

Joy of Satan
This organization definitely deserves to be mentioned more in this thread. Their archaic fossil of a website is a goldmine for schizophrenic babble. Their page on magic (archive) is chock full of nonsense you'd usually expect from crystal-obsessed astrology chicks. The entire website looking like a teenage girl's Angelfire page only adds to the charm.

lol their website is an admittedly fun website to go down in the rabbit hole, I can't really wrap around my head how they can genuinely believe in the nonsense they believe to be true. it's definitely out there and i wouldn't be surprised if it's a "glowie operation" like 09a

From what I've looked at over the years theres the lolcows at the bottom. The front groups with the stereotypical pitchforks and red devil costumes. Then when you get to listening to actors, porn stars, and drug dealers that have hung out with the elite. There are bad things happening. Two people off the top of my head I can remember being brought up as "witches" or "guides".

What is curious to me is the crossover with masonic imagery
