Careercow Scott Raymond Adams / @ScottAdamsSays / “Real Coffee With Scott Adams” - The Washed Up Cartoonist Behind “Dilbert”, Creator of “The Dilberito”, Professional Bullying Victim, Political Grifter, Terminally Online Narcissistic Boomer, Divorced Twice, Is (Not) Glad His Stepson Overdosed. This is Not a Racial Politics Debate Thread

In defense of Black people, it's really the Leftism part that make them niggers. The problem is nigger problems keep growing and in this case, Oakland is in driving distance of where he lives.
Shit, you’re right. Well hell, he should just point that out, all would be forgiven. Proximity is everything.

It’d be like living in Los Cabos and saying something not-nice about Spring Breakers, it’s totally understandable.

I thought I told everyone not to make this a racism/race realism/race relations debate thread. I will start handing out 3-day threadbans if this continues.

Difficult when the lolcow themselves are bringing it up.

This feels like peak Scott behaviour. He finds some alarming thesis based on pretty flimsy data, then proceeds to reorder his entire worldview around it. It’s basically the same thing as his belief that we live in simulation, except that only offends people who know anything about computer science.

Also, I find it kind of amusing that Adams seems to have actually managed to torpedo his little media empire, while J.K Rowling has basically no-selled being Internet Enemy #1 for years. I’m not sure if this says more about respective depth of fandom, gender issues versus race, or just Adams being a legit crazy person.

All these media companies dumping Adams are probably shooting themselves in the foot, though, or at least stepping on lego. Like, do most people who buy Dilbert collections even know about him being a nutjob, let alone him going all disappointed Elrond on black people? I suppose it shows that capital is willing to sacrifice some profit in order to signal ideological adherence to the right people.

It probably says more about depth of fandom because whether you love or hate Rowling, her franchise is widely successful and has dedicated brand loyalty among consumers. With Hogwarts Legacy some people aware of her controversies are like "Yeah she's transphobic but I want to play my heckin' Harry Potter game"

Dilbert doesn't have that same brand loyalty

He didn't really torpedo anything, though. He's a newspaper cartoonist who already made $70,000,000 and is keenly aware like most people that newspapers are dying.

He already adapted and transitioned to books and TV (as did Garfield, Calvin and Hobbes, etc) while keeping the newspaper part alive and now is just going to retire because he likely knows he would have to change his business model again for a more online friendly version (like a Stone Toss or Ben Garrison, etc) and decided instead to "fuck it" and retire. He decided to go out with a bang.

Dumping Adams doesn't really matter for the newspapers - they don't exist to make a profit, so anything that would hurt a profit doesn't matter to them.

Nigger isn't a race, it's a state of mind.
As posted earlier ITT, Chris Rock was telling everybody this back in the '90s. Then there's Bill Cosby's famous Pound Cake speech.
Kiwifarms by itself doesn't show up on Google at all. I guess they tried to censor it or bury it with garbage articles but didn't do a thorough job.
Somebody at Google needs to pull their heckin' programming socks up!

Back on topic... I've been listening to Real Coffee with Scott Adams over the past few days. Sure, Adams is a boomer who's way too impressed with himself, but there's something about the tone and cadence of his voice that just works as background noise. I haven't subscribed to his YT channel though, mainly because The Algorithm will take that as carte blanche to start shoving other right-wing boomer horseshit into my feed.

I would take a 50/50 bet that the majority of dilbert enjoyers don't even know who the fuck writes dilbert, and probably assume it's some mass-produced comic fodder made by some committee.

Most people don't even know any cartoonist beyond maybe Charles Schultz.

I'm pretty sure a newspaper comic artist like him owns all the rights to Dilbert anyways. It's not like the characters he created were Disney IP. If he wanted to, he could continue Dilbert in some form somewhere else.

Not to mention he has ”fuck you” money just barely. He can do whatever he wants so long as he stays above $25 million. The sky is the limit for him, which is funny because he is trying to crash and burn right now.

As someone who had been inundated with Dilbert comics early in my career, because, fuck damn it, he was if nothing else, genuinely right about a lot of things with respect to how American businesses operate, it hardly surprised me that he devised such a cynical hot take.

That's just what the motherfucker does.

Anyone getting offended by that now is just someone who wasn't paying attention to him before.

The skill of dilbert wasn’t in lampooning corporate culture it was somehow doing it in such a way that every dilbert in the USA could put them in their cubicle and the pointy haired boss wouldn’t fire them.

I regularly see kiwifarms threads venture way more off-topic than discussing something that the subject of a thread said, putting your geriatric cat-lady foot down over this is just a faggy attempt to force your personal views on the forum using your mod tools.

Seriously she sounds like a Reddit janny talking and acting like this

Okay, how's this: Nobody thinks you're cool if you're terrified of black people and want to stay as far away from them as possible, so stop your ranting and laugh at this pseudo-intellectual narcissist.
I didn't know it was a rule that if a lolcow said something, you can't agree with it, or if you do you can't post that you do.
