The thing is with these people if he had killed the cop with the knife before getting shot or even surviving a nonlethal attack he still would have been a martyr because he was just having a "violent episode" brought upon by transmisgony/Trump/cops existing/being misgendered/trans violence/etc. Fuck these people.
 
I have never seen a more blatant case of suicide by cop.
At least some normal people are actually calling out the cowardice on display here, even if we still got rioting psychos in the streets.
Also the guy described himself as having a concealed gun when he called the cops, so of course they fucking shot him. It wasn't about the knife or the distance, this was a goddamn calculated plan to make sure the police will shoot him to death.

Yeah, I was looking around a few places (twitter and reddit mostly) in a quest for salt but most people seem to think that in this case the cops were justified in firing their gun and it was a clear case of suicide by cop.

A few people are trying to spin a narrative and some are whining at the news for not using they/them pronouns. But that's about it.

Speaking of rioting psychos: there's already a fundraiser to bail out the people who got arrested at the protest/chimpout.

There's no need to bring other people into it and risk the fallout from the idiots in Twitterland and those who salivate at the thought of corpses to fuel the derisive and false social narratives they drive.

Now the police department has two officers now who are going to have to deal with the legal and personal ramifications of being involved in a fatal shooting, the increased public scrutiny on them, right or wrong, and some idiots torched a police car so the taxpayers of the city now have to buy them a new one... for what?

For one person deciding to be a narcissistic asshole, even to the end.... if you want to kill yourself, then do it, I'm too old and jaded and cynical to believe in "Every life is worth something" Yours was worth nothing and you proved it by going out in a way that only spread the misery around to innocents.

While you're not wrong about the value of human life against a police car I don't think that was what was implied by his statement.

It's a lot of fallout from a bad situation that started out escalated when Scout called in that fake threat so the cops would come ready for a school shooter situation.

How fucking DARE you! Someone just lost their life and you are talking about money? MONEY?! How God damn insensitive of you. You are acting like somehow the price of a car is somehow more valuable than a life of a human being!

Who fucking cares about the stupid ass price of a car! I would rather that city burn down 50 cars! And it still would not even come close to the price of a human life. And here you are making such a big fucking deal about one little car.

You just have to make everything about money don't you towinKarz don't you? Well guess what, the police department has MORE than enough money to replace your precious little cop car. But a human life, now that's something that can't be replaced. Material possessions are not worth more than a life.

You know what, people caring more about money than life itself like you is part of the reason why this shooting happened because people put money over human life and people suffer for it! When did people stop caring about human life and care more about money? This world really makes me sick sometimes. Hopefully some actual change in policing and government happens after this tragedy.

Exactly. SBC was my very first thought. It's sad and I feel for his loved ones, but I don't think for one second that Schultz didn't know what would happen.

And cops don't "shoot to kill" necessarily, even when they go for center mass. They're trying to take the person down as best they can, before someone else gets hurt. They're not, "yay, I killed a guy! One more and I get a free toaster oven!" No doubt some cops are assholes. But this wasn't some unarmed teenager smoking weed with his friends. This was a person coming at the cops with a knife. They have a split second to make the decision, and it's not one I envy.

It's a sad event for everyone.

The highway patrol out here has some sickass Chargers that they use for the high speed insanity on the I-15. One of those would set the city back 60+ grand if anything happened to it.
