SCP Foundation - Creepypasta with roid rage - now ITT: SCP fans

  • 🐕 I am attempting to get the site runnning as fast as possible. If you are experiencing slow page load times, please report it.
The sad part is they didn't feign blindness; at least at first his tricking everyone was no lie. Having been victimized by Bright myself I didn't believe it at first but when you go back and look there were a lot of creepy older men in the space when he was most active so it makes sense that he would fly under the radar.

It became more obvious he was bad once there had been a fumigation but by then he was so entrenched it was easy to spin a Big Lie that everyone who said he was problematic was just trying to smear him.

But of course, that excuse only goes so far and they had every opportunity to do the right thing. Even now, he's still never had his misconduct acknowledged by his enablers.
I think I remember them asking you to post explicit images of yourself when you were a teen? Or am I mixing you up with another young member of the SCP in those earlier years? There was so much of that shit happening from what I read. Really is horrible what nerds with a tiny crumb of power will become; from the bullied to the bully.

I don't know if SCP can actually be redeemed. The current trajectory might be more PC on the outward appearance, but from what I've seen with the Alphabet Cult you only need to scratch the surface and all the puss comes pouring out. And I write that as someone who used to be an "ally" until I noticed too many red flags and began to hate them. I don't even like publicly admitting to being bisexual because I don't want any association to that revolting kiddie-grooming cult

It always makes me grind my teeth whenever I see youtube videos giving attention and praise to the Bright character and further encouraging the author's influence and accessibility to minors because of that. If any character deserves the same amount of character-assassination (and literal assassination) that Kondraki's character got, it's Bright. They destroyed him in one time-line before; this time do it for the main canon. Kill and bury the character and don't write about him further until he fades into obscurity.

Speaking of Kondraki: aww! Look at that baby boy! lol He looks so glum!

How the hell did a 16 year-old become a moderator?! No wonder he was famous for his temper tantrums, he was just a chubby-cheeked kid!

You've got it backwards, the problematic LGBTQ+ element is that Bright the creepy old man was easily able to find vulnerable victims because of how refreshingly welcoming the SCP Wiki was to queer folks. The staff made it a welcoming place but failed at protecting people, most of them young people, from abusers present within the community from the start.

You mostly had it right, he solicited nudes from me over Skype when I was 21 and he was in his 30's and also my boss in the SCP power structure.

I am with you 100% on grating my teeth when I see people using the character he embodied, that was what pushed me over the edge of coming forward with my story of him abusing me.

That happened a lot in the early days if you showed up and were mostly consistent they'd hand you power for nothing. It was like that for a long time which goes a long way towards explaining how some infamous community members made it in the system.

I remember articles and especially tales started to get too "batshit lolawesome fanfic-ish" back in the days when Kondraki was a moderator. Kondraki's self-insert riding 682 around was funny but there's no way you can't say it wasn't retarded.
The site post-cleanup was probably the best SCP has ever been, at least in terms of the actual writing. Of course that was before it slid into... whatever you wanna call what it is now.

I’ve taken to calling it neololfoundation.

That was in a time when the self-insert stuff was mostly kept out of the SCP main articles themselves and was just a form of shitposting. Now there is shit in main articles that would have previously been in Joke SCPs (other than the being completely unfunny part) or extracanonical self-insert stuff.

Neo-lolFoundation is when moon-boi authors (Rounderhouse, HarryBlank/Site-43, Placeholder, J Dune, PlaguePJP, others) slum the Foundation to the level of a middle schooler in order to make poo poo pee pee jokes and cringe one-liners, so that their self-inserts get to be Site Directors and highly respected for having an average intelligence by comparison. They make a buncha articles about nothing with gimmicky anomalies, epic levels of idiocy, overly-simplistic characters, dumb-as-dirt dialogue, and squeeze it all through with astroturfed clique-upvotes, usually of the format “[topical object] +1”.

Neo-lolFoundation exploration and video logs are Sitcom plots and scenes without the laugh tracks, begging for them to be there. I also get the vibe that this type of author believes their self-insert cameo will cause the same sort of reaction as seen from a celebrity guest where the live-studio audience cheers for a minute, and the actors have to sort of juggle the moment in character while also acknowledging it and trying to tone it down discreetly so the scene can continue. The interviews are filled with impulsive & unpredictable jerks of the tonal steering wheel, the gaff-master trope is on auto-fire but always unironically (these articles are never -Js), and characters as high up as the O5 Council throw bananas under their own feet constantly in conga lines of completely unbelievable zaniness. The dialogue is likewise between sheer idiots, with any characterization bending lazily towards a bad impression of Star Lord on repeat. Most of the articles could be introduced, concluded, and improved by Yakkity Sax.

Authors of Neo-lolFoundation, way too eager to follow in each others’ footsteps, reek of their contemporaries. It’s ditzy to the max, and it’s the last thing I want to be reading. But they through relentless shilling and self-smugery have amassed an audience that is addicted to mediocrity. They are supremely good at taking better ideas, cartoonizing them, pulling anything interesting out of it, and filing it down for audiences that don’t have the framework to understand why the authors are in a far lower creative tier than their less commercially successful contemporaries. The clique almost can’t do anything other than use the SCP wiki to boast about how many of these they can shit out in a year.

Previous years of authors tried their hardest to write well above their age group, while these guys are content to write well below it for upvotes, canonical hubs, and article count. Neo-lolFoundation is the sort of thing I wish would summon authors to consider the implications of their decisions but LOL look, a dick!

Therein lies the rub, and the biggest issue with "Neololfoundation."

Hell if I were Kondraki's age I'd image myself as a big bara dude myself too
Yeah, who the fuck can blame him?

Also, say what you will of lolfoundation, Duke til Dawn is hardly the pinnacle of Internet fiction but at least it's bad in a highly entertaining way. I'd be lying if I said I didn't have a blast reading it. Hard to say the same about any recent articles.

I think an "RK-Class Retardation Shift" is pretty accurate.

Oh, my edgy adolescent friend, my sweet summer child, 173 was the end of a process, not a beginning.
So did these losers finally piss off the artist enough that he yanked the license? The most recent comments seem to indicate they removed it a month or two ago, because the use wasn't "compatible" with the license.

I remember reading through this some time ago, but I thought there was a recent development that changed matters? Something about the creators of the SCP games wanting to make the game marketable so they overhauled the design for 'Peanut'? And wasn't there some gossip a few months back that the SCP staff were hoping to also make a little bit of bank on SCP and were looking into the legal technicalities of copywrite, etc. Especially after that Russian bloke slapped on his own name and declared himself the legal owner of the Russian sister-site of SCP?

It's been a while, but I remember skimming the thread back when I was in lurker-only mod. Something critical happened that made them start looking into ways to make the site more lucrative. The agreement with the artist, way back at the start, was basically "don't make money off my art and I'm all cool with your using my art". But with all the fans making and selling Peanut plushies and fanart and shit, I think that agreement has been getting pretty frayed over the years.

Not sure but it doesn’t matter if the authors do it themselves or not, the staff licensing team would if they didn’t. They have gone peak legal paranoia, as if they’re significant enough to be sued. It’s post-Russian-trademark PTSD + an exercise in perceived self-importance really, with one of the more unreasonable minds on the issue now vice-captain of that staff team.

Even SCPD has second-hand paranoia about it:

The "funny" SCP entries are filled with what passes for "absurdist humor" among nerds. When it started creeping in a while back, it was the usual "random collections of things = funny" and characters shouting word salad insults that nerds find funny in the vein of "cuntwaffle" and "douchecanoe". Wacky random humor of that kind wasn't really random at all, it was just clichés stitched together in a formulaic way, and there was a time it wasn't that acceptable on the site - I remember an entry that had characters in the transcripts making with the "holy tapdancing motherfucking Jesus, we are getting screwed here, and it's not the good kind screwing, let me tell you" sort of dialogue and that got a lot of negative reaction so it was rewritten. Now, compared to what's on the SCP site, it's almost quaint in the wake of so many entries being Mary Sue picnics, overlong setups for bad punchlines, or novelette-length articles that culminate in nonsense like Ruth Bader Ginsberg and Tiffany Trump having a magic duel.

Also policing the work has been a nonstop nightmare for years. Essentially if other people rip off the work (which they have continually) and violate the copyrights, they're on the hook for it, or at least think they are. In any event, it's only with the permission of the original sculptor (and the acquiescence of the photographer) that they could keep using it.

I was more concerned it might be wokeshit, but it's copyright stuff instead, which at least makes sense.

There's a few rumors circulating that he got addicted to pills because of his doctor and a friend who's on a discord with him said he hasn't responded to anything. They think the Twitter deletion is proof that he either OD'd on painkillers intentionally or accidentally. I should of lead with that.
Makes sense he looked like he was on drugs already
