I know it's a bit silly to complain about the realism of a setting like this, but with literally thousands of horrific entities running around or other cursed objects, it makes the whole secrecy thing harder to believe. Like others in this thread pointed out, the biggest problem with the SCP wiki is that it just existed for far too long. Way past the sell-by date. At a certain point there is really nothing left to add, but every mouthbreathing 17 year old still feels the need to contribute.
The result is a deluge of worthless articles whose only way of standing out is through stupid gimmicks or ridiculous grandiosity.

I can't help but almost regret not spending more time reading SCP articles back when it was less terrible. In particular the older tales. I could still try and find them on the wiki and read them now, but too much has been retconned and troonified or outright deleted, and hunting them down on archive.org to get at the original articles and images sounds like a pain. Not to mention that everything of worth is now buried under hundreds of dogshit new articles. Back then there was plenty of crap, but at least it was significantly less verbose and thus easier to pick out.

Does anyone on here have a quick rundown on the history of the Wanderer's Library and the other sister sites (I remember there being a bunch of them that were dead on arrival)? From what I remember, it went mostly unused for a very long time with the exception of a bunch of stories tying into some of the moderators' self-insert plotlines.


Anyways the peak of SCP writing is definitely Doublehorses. Probably the only good thing to come from the whole site.

I remember liking this stuff early on but i forgot about and went to something else. resiliently thought id come back to it and watch a video on some of the stuff then got Donald trump was the bad guy and he totally worked with the russains in the first vid .

My headcanon is that it isn't Aphrodite and instead some kind of weird fucked up eldritch god using the guise of the goddess of beauty to taint her image.. or something, sounds kinda stupid now that I say that.
