SCP Foundation - Creepypasta with roid rage - now ITT: SCP fans

  • 🐕 I am attempting to get the site runnning as fast as possible. If you are experiencing slow page load times, please report it.
I like this stuff when it's done well, but it's a really difficult balance to maintain, and obviously a swarm of exceptional teenagers is never going to be able to handle that.

That inexplicable tip of the lovecraftian iceberg, teasing at a whole new dimension of dooming and horrific truths below the surface, contrasted with a cold and unimpressed harshly objective scientific pessimism that grounds it in some realism.

Honestly there's only a handful that are "good", and past the first hundred or two it's an endless wasteland of garbage.
I can see why people are drawn to cool things, but what is it that really deludes them into thinking they're capable of contributing to it?

I think a lot of the Keter ones could be improved if the SCP was "at large" instead of caught in some autistic Rube Goldberg machine constructed around it. SCP-106 is the worst offender creeping into my mind. Its containment procedure is fucking ridiculous in terms of logistics and description. The geometry of this giant cage is confusing to say the least. Containment descriptions like this are the worst because it creates a lot of questions which damper the SCP's creepiness. How did they build this thing? Where did they build it? How did they figure out this would work? How did they get this monster trapped in it? I guess the point of elaborate containment procedures like this is to underscore how dangerous the SCP is. But it violates the "Less is More" rule.

SCP-106 is already pretty creepy but would be way scarier if its entry was the Foundation discussing rules for tracking and monitoring it rather than how they had it contained.

That's dumb, though. All disabled means is you lack an ability that normally humans have. Normally humans can hear. If you're deaf, you can't or can't as well. That is lacking an ability or having an impaired ability. That's disabled. It doesn't mean you're a piece of shit or something.

The resentful push to stop classifying disabilities as, well, disabilities seems like a really bad attitude to have. We also have autistic people who actively fight against a cure/prevention for autism being developed. If you're autistic and you've learned to deal with the world despite it, no one is saying you should be forced to take a cure and relearn life all over again, but it's fucking evil to treat autistics like a "race" that deserve preservation and force newborn children to be condemned to missing out on so much of life because of your ego.

*shrugs* I can see where they're coming from though. When you hear or think "disabled", usually what comes to mind are like...people with wheelchairs, or severe mental illnesses or the like. People who need help living day to day and usually need medical intervention (either care support or medication or surgery or some such), but the average deaf person can live perfectly fine on their own, if they have the resources. I think it's more of a pushback on the perception, not so much the actual definition. Although I know there's an absurd amount of hearing...well, weariness at the least, if not outright hatred, in the deaf community, so I'm sure that doesn't help their own interpretation of how their classified. Idk...to me it's more of a gray area then autism. Although there is interesting correlation there; a lot of deaf families would prefer to have deaf children, and won't get them hearing aids or cochlear implants even if it would help marginally, and some deaf individuals who DO get such procedures done are scorned by the community as a sort of "traitor". And the marriage rate between deaf and hearing individuals is something like 3%, with most marriages not working out (iirc). Not sure how widespread the "traitor" thing is, but it's interesting to debate the merits and downfalls of genetically erasing what's commonly seen as disabilities or diseases. I don't know how I feel about it personally.

I initially just found the whole situation with...whatever the fuck her name was to be hilarious because I'd think if you spend 10 seconds within any deaf culture...anything, that'd be one of the first things you'd learn; it was emphasized many times by my deaf ASL teacher, and one of the first things she taught us. Though I'm sure there's dissenting opinion in the community, as with anything, just seemed to be the more prominent mindset in my searchings.

You know, I like these more than most of the actual SCPs out there. They're pretty amusing to me.

Definitely. Something like the abnormally clean coat is scarier to me then some giant world destroying monster. I touch a seemingly benign object and suddenly I literally cannot see the world the same way again. And also I start developing paranoia, eating disorders and hallucinations, and that's probably not the coat.

Also I would just like to draw everyone's attention to SCP-2008. Just...keep reading, I promise it's amazing when it clicks.

THIS EGG IN A JAR COULD END THE WORLD potentially

And you know what? Fuck those people. They're garbage. They're on the level of angry cripples who would smash their own kids' legs with a hammer rather than see them able to run a marathon, because they can't. Attitudes like that are pure cancer, and so are the people who hold them.

("IT'S TOO MUCH LIKE SERIES ONE!!!!")
How is that a problem? Series one is the best. Unlike the later series it was made for its own sake and for the most part did not include endless references to other SCPs, made-up organisations, characters, etc. I feel like they completely lost the plot sometime in the middle of series one. Then again, I guess I'm in the minority given how well-received all the new skips are.

Man I used to love SCP stuff, but I had no idea it went so far. The fact that they're on 3,000+ SCP articles makes me think the content has to have gone downhill. There's no way creators can keep coming up with original ideas at this point. Also, the fact that they're making stupid scientist/doctor Mary Sues to RP as makes it cringey. The scientists/doctors' names, personalities, and abilities don't fucking matter at all. I just want to hear about spooky monsters. But, at this point there's probably a lot of younger fans and people who weren't around when it first started participating, so the original concept was bound to get lost.

Creepypasta as a whole is total shit now for the same reasons.

You probably just had the worst timing because the spergs were having a really bad day or their 'tism is just acting up.

A flaw of this project is the absurd quantity of epic world-destroying horrors. It would be a thing if they were just some, but out of the thousands of SCPs, probably a few hundred of them have the potential to KILL EVERYONE or DESTROY EARTH. Makes you wonder how the fuck isn't everyone dead already and how lucky the foundation is every time to find these things before anything happens.
http://www.scp-wiki.net/document-recovered-from-the-marianas-trench implies this happens

I'd like to hear more about the articles they've read or scrapped due to controversy, or links to them, or more about what was changed like with Able/Abel. I don't really have the memory you guys seems to.

Incident 239-B - Clef-Kondraki

Ho. Ly. Shit.

This is amazing. It's so cringe, and unreasonably long, and the format doesn't lend SO well to drama, and doesn't make a lot of sense, but guys.

Swordfighting scientists.

Reality bending child who thinks she's a Harry Potter character.

a fUCKIMNG DRAGON.

Why are the scientists swordfighting?
Why is lizard booty there?
Why do they have to involve so many goddamn SCPs that I can't keep straight?

WHO CARES THERE CAN BE ONLY ONE!!!11!11!!

also camo butterflies. that's actually kinda fucking rad tbh.

lol we should be looking more into the stories then the entries tbh.

See, this is why my favorite ones were the two vending machines and the clockworks. It's anomalous, relatively safe (if unpredictable with two of them), and fun. It's not edge like "The Hateful Star" which is a sentient pulsar that will essentially kill us and there's nothing we can do to stop it.

As for the Old Man containment, the trick is that he tends to "hibernate", which gives you anywhere from a few weeks to a few months to refurbish your prison. He's also relatively easy to attract; just break a young man's legs and let his screams draw him in. It's over done to be honest, but it's the reason they could go so far.

Oh yeah, some SCPs are uncontainable btw; color vision and fire are two examples these guys wrote.

it was from a period called lolfoundation, when everything is still way too lax, disgustingly so: http://www.scp-wiki.net/forum/t-1082291/lolfoundation

Betting they shook their heads in shame on that period.
I actually did have another somewhat original idea, but is it worth going through more drama just to have that deleted too?
post it here

you don't seem to understand what "powerlevel" is. it's less about personal identifiers and more about telling us shit about yourself we don't care about/isn't relevant.

the fact you got a story downvoted, while semi-relevant, adds nothing to the conversation but fishing for pity votes, when no one gives a shit.

from the top of the CWC thread

"Hide your powerlevel. Avoid revealing intimate, personal details about yourself in public boards. These threads are not your personal blog and we are not an asylum."

emphasis mine

I wanted to write about a sentient wiki that tries to expose the Foundation and threatens them when they try to shut it down.

That.... is not actually completely terrible. Sounds like something the Gamers Against Weed faggots would do, which is one of the stupider factions, but still.

I'd actually say SCP-2000 Deus Ex Machina is one of the worst I've come across in comparison to the earlier stuff as it's a really boring attempt to "fix" everything when a keter class has done something that's fucked up the world and killed everyone.

It also wouldn't work if said Keter class managed to roam free. If it managed to kill off the Foundation at its height prior to the world ending. Producing 5 million or so drones with little in the way of equipment would be just stupid.
