SCP Foundation - Creepypasta with roid rage - now ITT: SCP fans

Almost a month later to the date, another child grooming predator has been ousted and jettisoned in dramatic fashion from the SCP Wiki community. This time it is a woman in her 30s who goes by Agent Jackrabbit.

Read all about it here:

She was, like Bright, overtly sexual. She referred to her followers as ”my cute little cadets”, and produced video shorts on her Twitter that featured perfectly normal statements like “manipulate the girls, indoctrinate the boys”.

The community is blindsided. It turns out she is a fandom-hopper (ha, pun) who goes from gullible community to gullible community, cozying up to the prominent figures in the space through flattery and ego massaging… I wonder why SCP was a good space for this parasite to nest?

The only people who learned anything from the Bright event was the SCP Wiki staff. They booted this pest immediately and should be applauded and respected in this for their much-improved showing. Seriously, you know I don’t say this lightly; the SCP staff did a great job and the right thing.

How's Liminal Archive holding up? I never got around to reading it so I don't know if it's been infested with woke politics or not.
I took a quick peak at it, and while it can be wordy at times, it's better managed than the Backrooms wikidot and wikia. You can tell that some care goes into ensuring the quality of the articles, though at the moment there's only a handful of them.

Unrelated, but it turns out our friend DjKaktus is a fan of Eve online. Which is a space MMO of mostly player run factions and economy. He was elected to the CSM council which essentially helps the development of the game. This might be interesting in the future if it simmers for a bit.

He goes by " Mark Resurrectus" in the game. Though I haven't verified this yet.

Since its the month of Pride, they decided to change the banner to this again.

This reminds me the RPC authority, I don't think anything has happened there in a while. Though they're still anti-gay, because well thats the entire reason they exist.

Moving on, in other news one of the Admin accounts on the SCP wiki got hacked, and was used to attempt to delete the front page, they did. Though it was quickly restored and the problem was fixed. Though it was amusing, it makes sense because it was a member of the scp staff.

Just like SCP, The Backrooms is now filled with trannies.
I was kinda into it for a bit but tbh I have no clue why a single shitpost on 4chan spawned this back room shit. It worked for SCP because the concept was novel and had room for expansion. The levels of the back rooms are grasping at straws, and they face the same issues with self inserts to an even more severe degree. The writing is okay though. But yeah they really are stretching it trying to make a wiki and world out of a meme that was meant to poke fun at the idea of noclipping out of reality.

Overall, lots of parallels between SCP and backrooms but I’d argue backrooms is way less deserving of a fleshed out lore.

Plus in Backrooms every shitpost is part of canon lore which is really a dumb idea.

I always liked location based SCPs so I'm interested to see what they do with the backrooms. I think they could have something special if they just set up a better Bible of established lore as well as a good template for writers to work from. Right now it just seems like anarchy.

Just bring SCP-093 with you and let it go once you've noclipped into the shadow realm. Then follow the series of holes to the nearest mirror.

The thing that kinda ruins it for me is basic logic. Empathy and pain are literal biological mechanisms evolved out of necessity. Our literal only chance at survival as a species was cooperation and a sense telling us when we’re doing something stupid. Pain is literally a result of Darwinism. Anything smart enough to avoid shit that causes pain probably made it up to this point. Empathy and pain are compelling forces literally bred into humans via natural selection. Without any impulse or compelling drive to collaborate, we’d still be banging rocks together in caves and trying to fistfight grizzlies. Like bro how tf did humanity exist before this alleged entity came along without completely destroying itself anyways?
More like he has the same mindset as 682 (apparently), as do the rest of the affected Foundation personnel.

I'd toss a puzzle piece at the guy who did the writeup, personally. I'm not onboard with the whole "pain and empathy are all just protective measures caused by an external entity AND THE FOUNDATION FIGURED OUT THE TRUTH MAN FREE YOUR MIND" crap.
I think it's a great SCP precisely because it's unexplained. Most newer entries fall into one of the following:
  • Detailing the object's behaviour and leaving nothing to the imagination
  • Having a preachy 'moral of the story'
  • Not actually making it scary
5000 doesn't do that. It's just pages upon pages of grotesque and bizarre details tied together by a single entity/phenomenon that's implied to be worse than all of the above, regardless of your interpretation.

To my knowledge, the author has not explained it and refuses to confirm any explanations. He seems to understand (unlike so many others) that no answer you provide can possibly be worse than what people will imagine. It is, without a doubt, the rightful winner of the Mystery contest.

I don't really like the backrooms, like the original 4chan post was creepy. But the wikidot version of the backrooms seems more like a video game concept then something that could make for good horror. The original post was good though, and I found it quite creepy. The idea that there is a chance that you will be suck into limbo for the rest of eternity or find a way out is creepy. I prefer it without the entities though, like all you have is yourself and your thoughts and the ever approaching darkness and starvation.

In order of quality:
Liminal Archive > Backrooms Wikidot > Backrooms Wikia

Liminal Archive has a early SCP feel to it, where there is an obviously higher standard for articles. Authors focus more on each level's environment rather than its dangers, and this results in some interesting worldbuilding. There's still entities, but the only ones you'll recongize are Smilers and Hounds. The rest are originals exclusive to Liminal Archive. However, there's barely any content on the site yet, so if you're all caught up be ready to wait longer for more content.

Backrooms Wikidot seems to be the go-to stop for Backrooms "lore", with what YouTubers will go to for content like explanations or found footage. Articles are very hit or miss. For every good article you'll find ten crappy ones, which oftentimes are infested with entities because the authors couldn't make the rooms scary on their own and decided to use a cheap way to make it scary.

Backrooms Wikia is mostly a rehash of the Wikidot (same levels, same entities), but it also has its own original content sprinkled in. While there are some decent articles in the Wikia, the majority of it is clearly written by children. That, and add in the the fact that there's very little regulations, this results in some heavy concentrations of autism. Overall, not recommended if you want a serious read, but it can be enjoyed ironically if you want to poke fun at the writing.

This is the correct answer. At least slime homunculus nightmare world is interesting, and it managed to be scary without resorting to shitty creepypasta cliches like "the scenery changed when you weren't looking OOooOOOOoooOOoooOOOooo!!"

Layers of Fear utterly destroyed that trope and the fact that those bozos are making the next Silent Hill makes me want to drive into a lake.

Overexplaining ruins everything. We saw these autistic SCPs, but stuff like Backrooms are such a basic premise that doesn't lend itself to world building without getting retarded, they gave it levels, narratives, personalities, monster lore... These things hinge on the fear of the unknown, "lore" is directly opposed to that.

Just like what happened to Slenderman when they had this huge character sheet of a "monster syndicate of varying quirks led by the titular monster". C'mon, it's just a shape that stalks you.
