Discounting all of the recent logo drama and how the site handled it, this is what my problem with the SCP Wiki is. It seems like it's full of pompous, pretentious jackasses who take themselves way too seriously and are borderline hostile to newcomers.

If it were just a logo change for a month I don't think there would be much of a problem. It's more like a catalyst. It highlights an odd narrative shift within the SCP to essentially humanize what ought to be a shady and nefarious organization. And I think this is exemplified most in the image of Agent C. Trauss, specifically the phrase: "I feel completely comfortable here and I always have." This could mean two things: That this person is a psychopath perfectly comfortable with working for an organization that will scrub entire populations for "the greater good" or that the SCP just really isn't all that bad, a loving and caring family organization that deeply cares about the well-being of its employees. It's like trying to make Umbrella Corp seem like a humanitarian organization and it just doesn't fit with the fundamental concept backing the SCP.

Honestly what has happened to the SCP just feels like the natural direction something like this would be taken in. Imagine hosting a D&D campaign that anyone could join for over 10 years. It's going to get to a point where so much retardation has flooded in that any scrap of cohesive lore will be buried under mountains of filth. That being said, I don't think this is a problem that exist purely because idiots from tumblr who have no idea how to write have taken over the site, but rather (in my experience anyways) group writing projects will almost always fail due internal conflicts and other people's egos getting in the way among other issues. For example films with one writer generally tend to be more tightly written than films with a huge team of writers. Of course, the stupidity of the "new management" of the site have exacerbated the problem considerably and are by all means responsible for the degradation of what once was a somewhat interesting creative outlet.
