SCP Foundation - Creepypasta with roid rage - now ITT: SCP fans

The wiki is currently hosting Jam Con, an annual event where they give a short prompt and everyone’s got 24 hours to crap out write a submission. The runaway winner for Day One, by the all-important metric of vote totals, comes to us from thread favorite rounderhouse: http://scp-wiki.wikidot.com/scp-5929

No wonder this piece has received such universal acclaim! It is a true and honest testament to the horror, sci-fi, urban fantasy elements that made the wiki so popular in the first place. A lesser author would have sacrificed care/subtext/ambition and concluded with a lame, inoffensive joke that lets readers feel like they are “in on it” enough to score more of the internet points that have become a stand-in for self-esteem. But no, not on this wiki. We can all be extremely confident that this piece will stand the test of time.
You know, if this didn't have dogshit for tone, it could actually be an okay entry. Not worthy of winning a contest, but inoffensive.

The theme for this day was "marine", for reference. There are a lot of things you could do with that, but I guess you've gotta go with a short piss joke if you want the win. It is what it is.

I agree, it’s a fun idea that we are the proud and complex evolutionary products of the biofilm that resulted from another alien race’s waste. The comedy is that this Diet Kaktus is what gets pedestaled as exemplary. Must be mildly mortifying for the other contestants to see something so transparently and purely an upvote lure “win”.

Hey I just realized this is a perfect metaphor if the aliens are the original SCP authors and the current writers are humanity. Take this and Document Recovered From the Marianas Trench as contrast points.

I’m sure they’re happy for him, who doesn’t want to see the same in-group win all the awards and accolades? Fun fact, since it formed, only three contests have not had members of the Yurt be a winner or win outright: 144 Jam 2019, Exquisite Corpse, and SCP-5000

The next series of SCPs will solely be populated by ironic text where everyone in charge talks like a millennial. O5 command will open a TikTok account and their own public subreddit

this thread started out documenting weird/funny sexual behavior and predators and has devolved into "someone I don't like won a contest, also this guy misused penultimate LOL what an idiot"
We've kinda run out of stuff to talk about for the time being. I don't have any creepy behavior or logs to write about, and it doesn't seem like anyone else does either. Everyone on the wiki is focused on the contest right now, so there's not much interesting happening. We're just gonna have to wait for something to happen.

yeah idk I disagree with the idea that wiki staff are complacent in any of this, so far they have banned ever pedophile/predator and people like eskobar/gabriel jade are very widely and openly seen/talked about as sexual predators

You're just mad that you're a faggot who didn't know what "penultimate" meant. Bitch.

Evidence has been posted to this thread indicating that high-ranking staff members, most notably SoullessSingularity, were informed of the predatory activities of Gabriel Jade and Eskobar with evidence months before anything was actually done. It was only when the information was documented here for anyone to see that action was taken.

Edit: Plus, they kept Bright on for over a decade.

yeah and soulless was demoted from their position as disc. chief for incompetency shortly after those logs were leaked

They're still on AH, and Mann blatantly understated how bad the incident actually was in the public statement he gave.
I haven't read mann's statement so I wouldn't know for sure but from what I can tell all soulless was really guilty of was extreme stupidity
there was no actual evidence of conspiracy/collusion with the predators
i'll give you an irl example: I don't think anyone is saying that the florida police are like colluding with school shooters because they failed to take any prior action on nikolas cruz even though there was evidence he had violent tendencies and multiple reports

edit: with the bright stuff, dr. bright really isn't guilty of anything besides being a weirdo. which is funny and good to laugh at but I don't think he's ever actually engaged in predatory behavior/sexual assault

I'm not saying that staff are colluding with the predators, I'm saying that they knowingly sheltered them through inaction. I don't think there's any kind of conspiracy here, I just think they didn't bother to do anything until it looked like the evidence was going to be made visible to a large audience.

you are assuming they knew and that this was an 'open secret' type of situation, when it wasn't. also, kiwifarms isn't a large audience.

what is much more likely is that staff looked at this thread, didn't like what they saw, and decided to take action. nobody in the primary SCP audience cares about this thread. they weren't under any threat of public retribution.

Alright, here's the posts then. You can read them yourself if you don't believe me when I say that they absolutely knew something.

I was referencing the period where a bunch of people tried to have the logs sent to big content creators as video material. They took action shortly after people began discussing those plans.

yeah I give up, this is too damning

i'm still iffy on 'they did it because of kiwi' idea but taking 5-6 months to ban someone who you know is a pedophile is too long.

edit: I think giving up on the reporting to youtubers idea was cringe, if the evidence is this bad it would be so easy to get a mid-level drama channel to showcase the screenshots of soulless learning of the pedophilia, then show the bans 6 months later, and make a speech about how they knew and didn't do anything

I'll admit I was being a little pedantic, it's just amusing to me that the people who really want everyone to know how smart they are continuously prove themselves to be the dumbest of the bunch. @Furret is right tho, not really much to talk about. I really wish Roget's doc dump would have turned up something more fruitful. He claims there's some damning evidence in there but I must have missed something because I haven't seen anything important yet.

No fault on Roget's part, this means a lot to him, but in terms of being a true lolcow community, SCP hasn't quite reached that for me. Check out a local government office and you'll probably find much of the same drama
