It doesn't look like you even need to use a real email account. I used a 10minute mail email address and I didn't even have to confirm my account. That is surprising. How much of a problem are bots and spammers in this game?

Bots are allowed and have many legitimate uses, Linden Labs just asks that you tick a box on the profile denoting it as a bot account.
Spammers are there as ever but ever since the advent of the derez function they're lost a lot of their power.

I knew someone in SL back when I used to play who messaged me crying about being sexually assaulted. I was utterly horrified until I realized pretty quickly that she meant in-game. She was crying IRL and genuinely traumatized over something that could have been stopped by closing the window and relogging, or even pushing the teleport home button.

Some people get so far into it that that level of immersion isn't uncommon to see. Or at least wasn't when people were actually populating the servers. I could never wrap my head around it, but it was always something to behold.

This is the most autistic thing I've ever heard of.

Agree. This style is what I liked about the Esteban videos. The one where he's in a strip club, someone asks if he's an elf and he says "No, just bad genes". Awesome.
It's great because everyone is thinking, well just go buy/make a better avatar if you're ugly. Which makes them think about their avatars and how ugly they are really. His whole approach mocks people without letting them know they are being mocked. He comes off as so harmless that it's funny to watch people flip their shit over an obvious non-threat.

Another thing I'd like to bring up is how all these special snowflakes make the game look like shit. The outdated graphics don't help, but aren't the main problem. There is pretty much no coherent design anywhere. You can find carefully crafted areas that look fine and have a consistent architecture, but then are blotted with wolf pony shemale characters prancing around. I think the diehards see it as the Mos Eisley cantina, populated with colorful and interesting characters, but to everyone else it looks more like Pooh's Adventures in Spergland.

Ohhhh yeah. Yep. This is a thing. I can attest to this being a thing that happens on SL. Admittedly, I actually kind of don't mind this body structure if it's done in a way that isn't... that. Like, I get it, you know? Exaggerated proportions and all that. But there's a right way and a wrong way to do them, and these people are doing them wrong.

I actually think I have an avatar with the exaggerated thighgap, hip, and butt proportions, and I thought that it was toeing the line in terms of body anatomy. But I was wrong. I was so very wrong.

Edit: Those faces, though? They're inexcusable. I never understood why people thought that those faces were ever good-looking.

I attempted to get into SL at one point because my fiance plays it, in his case mainly for the passive income you can make selling shit on it.

I picked this dumb-looking robot avatar out of the things they let me choose when I made my account and spent like 20 minutes flying around random sims that it suggested to me. Then I was recommended to try out "Lesbian Paradise", which I entered, took like two steps in, got banned, and received a message from a mod saying "nice try". I'm not even sure what I did

It didn't bother me too much though because about five minutes after that I got tired of the clunky ass interface and the assault on my eyes from all the shitty user-made graphics and never touched it again.

I believe the aforementioned fat arse people belong to the subclass "pixel bitch" and are widely disliked by normal arsed people for supposedly ruining the creativity of the game. From what I've seen they also tend to be hermaphrodites but as mentioned before I think most players are also this way inclined. Whomever created these brazilian arses must be rolling in the dosh.

I've actually watched a few of Esteban now live streams into Second Life, he unfourtunately doesn't stream anymore because apparently everyone knows him and singles him out from the start.

One of the unrecorded streams, he walked around asking to adopt a child, went to a shark-furry adult bar, got ejected and then when he spawned into a new area saw two people arguing right in front of an actual eight year child.
