So I've participated in three of these so far. I really love it and it really brings out community spirit. The last three years have all been marked by some significant difficulties, though. One year one of the main organizers vanished without trace (so far as I could tell) leaving many gifts in limbo. Not sure what happened last year but there were problems again.

I want to volunteer to help. I also think, what with attacks on the forums and people's holidays and how long it can take to make gifts, it's getting close to time to start this up. Who's organizing it this year? Has planning started? I'm willing to volunteer in whatever capacity is needed.

I did this in 2020 and ended up being given nudes from a femboy user, I'm not running that risk again. And it wasn't even a secret, they DM'd and were like "I'm your secret santa but I'm not talented, do you care what I send to you?" And I foolishly said no instead of demanding their best attempt at drawing.

@Neurotypical Mantis :\

I'd love to help/volunteer with sending out gifts between users. I participated in SS last year and I know some people got their SS late or something happened with the original santas and they had to use backup santas.

I'll probably be participating as well. Although this year users are competing with NovelAI gifts, if I get one I hope it's not made by AI.

I'll put my witch :feels: in mine, AI won't be able to replicate that.
That's an interesting point. Is there a risk that many people will simply enter the Likes as positive prompts, Dislikes as negative prompts and feed it into some free online AI art generator? Whilst that would be interesting as its own thing I thing it would monumentally suck as part of the Secret Santa. If it's not just me who finds a flood of 5 second effort AI images disappointing, we should make some kind of statement about that in the opening thread. Exception made if we have some sort of AI experts who for some reason it actually is a creative effort work.

@Overly Serious would you want to run this year's Secret Santa? Anybody who would want to start submissions should make a thread around Thanksgiving.
I'm up for it. It would be my way of giving back to this wonderful crazy community from whom I have received so much. I'm a long-standing member in good standing (I hope!) I'd definitely be reaching out for advice from previous runners, of course.

I think I'd begin with setting up some sort of master-spreadsheet for participants detailing matches, confirmation of gift received, gift delivered, notification of withdrawal, assigned helper/point of contact, freeform notes. A list of Helpers and a list of the saints willing to do a last-minute stand-in.

For organization, I'd probably have two waves of follow-up notification: check you're still committed sort of thing two weeks and one week before expected delivery. That serves as both a nudge to get on with it and an early warning system of drop outs to spread out the time needed for the volunteers doing last minute replacement gifts. And also to slot in late sign-ups. I'd probably start advertising for helpers now and set up the group chat of us in advance and have the notification go out at Thanksgiving (lot of people idling online on a holiday) or 1st of December. We can enter sign-ups on the master list and apportion helpers amongst them. Need to look at previous Secret Santa threads to get the guidelines on file size, content, etc.

Anyway, yes, I'm willing to organize and if not needed, very willing to assist. I think planning for this needs to start around now. Keffels will not steal Christmas!

That's a good point. If I may suggest, don't block out AI image submissions but have a couple people moderate those submissions so they're not just haphazardly outputted. Perhaps add a rule that if you do an AI image submission, have the submitter create something WITH it.

My goal is to be on the first page this year when the thread goes up, and I'm in this one so that's a good sign.

I missed this story but that's great to have such a memorable holiday experience

I'd love to participate in this years secret santa. I don't have time to organise but if I get enough time in advance I would volonteer as replacement secret santa if someone drops out.

Would be willing to participate again this year and would be willing to be a replacement if someone doesn't get a gift.

Okay. So... Is anybody officially appointed to organise this? Is there even some panel? If not, I'm putting myself forward. I love Secret Santa on the Farms. I've participated every year (and I probably shouldn't say this but someone in this thread was the recipient of my gift one year and their response made me super happy so thank you for that!).

I don't even know how people get appointed. Does Null descend from the Heavens and annoint someone or does someone just cheekily start it?

So is this the official
