I'll probably be participating as well. Although this year users are competing with NovelAI gifts, if I get one I hope it's not made by AI.
I'll put my witch

in mine, AI won't be able to replicate that.
That's an interesting point. Is there a risk that many people will simply enter the Likes as positive prompts, Dislikes as negative prompts and feed it into some free online AI art generator? Whilst that would be interesting as its own thing I thing it would monumentally suck as part of the Secret Santa. If it's not just me who finds a flood of 5 second effort AI images disappointing, we should make some kind of statement about that in the opening thread. Exception made if we have some sort of AI experts who for some reason it actually is a creative effort work.
@Overly Serious would you want to run this year's Secret Santa? Anybody who would want to start submissions should make a thread around Thanksgiving.
I'm up for it. It would be my way of giving back to this wonderful crazy community from whom I have received so much. I'm a long-standing member in good standing (I hope!) I'd definitely be reaching out for advice from previous runners, of course.
I think I'd begin with setting up some sort of master-spreadsheet for participants detailing matches, confirmation of gift received, gift delivered, notification of withdrawal, assigned helper/point of contact, freeform notes. A list of Helpers and a list of the saints willing to do a last-minute stand-in.
For organization, I'd probably have two waves of follow-up notification: check you're still committed sort of thing two weeks and one week before expected delivery. That serves as both a nudge to get on with it and an early warning system of drop outs to spread out the time needed for the volunteers doing last minute replacement gifts. And also to slot in late sign-ups. I'd probably start advertising for helpers now and set up the group chat of us in advance and have the notification go out at Thanksgiving (lot of people idling online on a holiday) or 1st of December. We can enter sign-ups on the master list and apportion helpers amongst them. Need to look at previous Secret Santa threads to get the guidelines on file size, content, etc.
Anyway, yes, I'm willing to organize and if not needed, very willing to assist. I think planning for this needs to start around now. Keffels will
not steal Christmas!
