Then get a real job. That's my whole point: comedians, artists, actors and musicians aren't entitled to work in their desired professions. It's something they have to earn, and even then, it's an extremely unreliable profession. It's basically a popularity contest. If you have to spend years working in bullshit jobs to make rent to avoid compromising your artistic integrity, that just comes with the territory.Growing a pair doesn't get you your job back if you get fired for no good reason. For instance, Bill Maher getting fired for comments after 9/11 that were simply stating a reasonable opinion.
If you get blacklisted and basically no longer have a career, all the balls in the world won't pay your rent.
Well, there are two ways I can see offending fringe SJWs going: either they're not really that fringe, and you in fact said something dumb. OR, if they really are pretty fringe, that sounds like you just need a good PR group instead. But losing your career over absolutely trivial shit is what people reasonably fear, and why they stay the fuck away from college campuses. It's not worth the harassment, and basically they have a choice between fucking up their career by doing a bland, unfunny routine or fucking it up by offending some fringe SJW weirdos and ending up on the wrong side of some jihad.
Seinfeld's actual comments were a lot more mild than "political correctness is killing comedy". That's more of what I was addressing.Stopping doing college shows IS a reasonable career choice. You won't see Doug Stanhope doing colleges, or Louis C.K. Seinfeld is just saying something he's in a position to say because he's wealthy and influential enough not to give a fuck. I bet there are a ton of people whose position is not so solid who think the same thing but wouldn't say it.
While I agree with your statement that comedy/any sort of entertainment profession is extremely unreliable and isn't something that's entitled, I do think that Seinfeld was purposefully being broad with his statement. From my interpretation Seinfeld is saying that even everyday joking around is being damaged by political correctness, not just the stand-up comedian. That's just my two cent on the matter. Then get a real job. That's my whole point: comedians, artists, actors and musicians aren't entitled to work in their desired professions. Although, personally, I see Bill Maher in a different light than an ordinary comedian. It would seem to me that because of his time as a political commentator, he could probably get a new job pretty easily. But I pulled that out of my ass, so I don't really know.

Oh, sure, if college campuses are minefields, don't work them. You're completely justified in not working college campuses. But to me, the overly broad statement that "political correctness is killing comedy" is a more complicated way of saying you're a bad comedian.
Stand up comedy caters towards white people. Unless you're Kevin Hart or Aziz Ansari they get paid more. Seinfeld's audience is exclusively white people with white people problems. Shit ain't hard to tell.Tell us more about white privilege in stand-up comedy.

Something something racism something white privilege something.I don't understand the point you're trying to make. So a black comedian who caters to a lower class black audience should start making jokes about stock trading and custom Italian suits to be more inclusive? Whats wrong with pandering to an audience?

Richard Pryor gotpaid a lotStand up comedy caters towards white people. Unless you're Kevin Hart or Aziz Ansari they get paid more. Seinfeld's audience is exclusively white people with white people problems. Shit ain't hard to tell.
3 of the most famous stand ups in history. I guarantee that when it comes to pay and popularity they are outnumbered at least 2:1 by white people. Are there a black stand ups? Yeah. But that's a unique community that doesn't get the praise nor attention of their white counterparts.Richard Pryor gotpaid a lot
Chris rock gets payed a lot too
Bill Cosby is one of the richest and most influential comedians ever
And both black and white audiences loved them
Plenty of black people also have problems like the ones presents in Seinfeld. By saying that those are just white people problems, You're being just as racist.
Are you black or white? You say wack so much I imagine a silly 80's white dude in baggy pants like every time you talk3 of the most famous stand ups in history. It's the same across the board when it comes to black entertainment but that's neither here nor there.
My African-American friend loves Seinfeld. Explain that.

Patrice O Neal is one of the greatest of all time.
Godfrey, Donald Glover, Hannibal Buress, Dave Chappelle, Bernie Mac.
That's just off the top of my privileged white head though.
Saying there are a few black stand-ups is like saying there are a few black basketball players.
Oh definitely, Seinfeld's actual comments were completely fine. I didn't read them at first. See, my whole point is that saying "political correctness is killing standup comedy" is a very whiny thing to say. But (as I discovered by reading the article) that's not what Seinfeld said at all. While I agree with your statement that comedy/any sort of entertainment profession is extremely unreliable and isn't something that's entitled, I do think that Seinfeld was purposefully being broad with his statement. IIRC he stated he was asian in another post.
He seems like he is really trying to show he is "down wit da bruthas".
