Oye, this seven spears asshole in the resovoir is kicking my ass. The "use dodge attacks to wear him down" approach doesn't seem to work, as he's constantly spinning his spear in circles - I can't dodge away from him for breathing room either due to his range. Gah.

I can't tell if this is a case of me being bad, or just lacking a tool to expose him.

Perhaps I'm in the minority here, but I'm increasingly disappointed that this wasn't a full blown Tenchu game. I repeat that it's a fucking fantastic experience overall, but I find myself enjoying it far more when I'm fighting dirty or playing the enemies against each other - the boss fights feel a bit flat by comparison.

Also, is it just me or is the difficulty curve really weird? That fat Seven Spears fuck in the resovoir took me a good fifteen attempts or so, but everything else has fallen in one or two tries. I'm currently clearing out Mibu Village and Mt Kongo before the second fight with Genichoro, at the top of Ashina Village, and its jumped out at me.

The toughest mini-bosses (Headless, Shichimen Warriors, Seven Spears, O'Rin, Snake Eyes) are optional, so I don't think they really factor into the normal difficulty curve. If you look just at the mandatory bosses and mini-bosses, the difficulty scales up appropriately in the order in which they're likely to be encountered.

O Ron was a shitty fight because it felt dependent on consumables.

That's kind of my issue with a lot of boss fights, really. This One Trick murders them, but are an enormous pain in the ass without.

I'm guessing you're referring to the divine confetti. You really don't need it for O'Rin, just deflect her attack flurries and get in a few hits of your own and that's enough to fill her posture bar up quickly. Only the Headless and Shichimen Warriors really need DC to fight effectively.

Maybe it was because of how "early" I fought her, but deflections weren't really doing a lot until I used confetti. Maybe I missed something.

Mostly irritated because of how often she danced around in her transparent form. That just dragged the damn fight out.

Why are FROM so BAD with grab attacks in their games?!

This damn guardian ape, man. Sekiro keeps teleporting into his hand even when I'm dodging or jumping it. The fucky timing on the warning symbol doesn't help.

Great fight other than that, but fucking hell guys, this makes Bloodborne's hit boxes look good.

Oh for fucks sake, a dual boss encounter where the two clip through one another with their attacks? FROM designed this to be as cheap and shitty as possible didn't they. I never feel satisfied beating stuff like this, only irritated I had to slog through it.

Game complete, think I obtained the "best" ending judging by who survived and what adventures await.

Feel no desire to play again and that's kind of sad. Game really felt it was taking off near the end, especially in terms of environment wow, but I have no attachment to Sekiro or his further development. Don't even have the usual FROM itch to get a platinum trophy.

Weirdly cold on the game now, overall.

I have been playing for 2 days and i have to say that i understand why several Dark Souls/Bloodbornes had problem with it, going to put my thoughts and tips on it from someone that only played dark souls 3

1) The game is very fast paced but if you have experience in similar CHREYZY games like for example metal gear revengeance you will find that the timing and the fact that mobs dont get tired normal, dont expect simply have a tank because there is no equipment here (not one you can find and equip like in dark souls, you get sweet prosthetics tho)

2) Being a coward is valid strategy, get the high ground, be sneakan, when i was in the first area after the tutorial i felt like i was in a more modern Tenchu game but it was harder i practically annihilated everyone just by using broken jars and like in Tenchu you can't deathkill Wolves but for some reason you can deathkill roosters

3) Memorize if a enemy has sweep or stab, this saved me a lot of troubles when i was fighting the first general (the big red guy near the area where the old lady with the bell is), master the jump kick because is going to save your ass a lot

4) Remember what the guy that gave you the robot arm "there is always a way to kill", a good example is when my guys in irc were stuck in the part of the hinata hills was it? they were being ass raped by the guys in shields, they forgot to talk with the guy that was dying nearby that told you that there is a shinobi axe in the temple, with that axe you can destroy their shields and destroy their postures for easy kills, i was being assraped by the shinobi killer until i got that sweet counter where you step the lance and destroy his posture

5) The game teach you the hard way how you must not simple charge upfront to the enemy, you are not dante or raiden

6) Running away is ok and you should not feel bad about it

7) The AI is sometimes amazing and sometimes is stupid, amazing in the fact that sometimes if you use things to distract enemies like the broken jar they will check like normal but when they return to their post after not finding you they are going to be walking backwards, but sometimes they get brain farts like this

I did not have the Axe installed yet but i managed to sneak on this guy because the shield block his field of vision top kek

Jesús this one was hard

it took me like two hours but once you get the idea is not that hard

It doesn't help that the game tell you a strategy that doesnt work in my case I parried her attacks and used charged attacks

For those who want to fight her

1) forget about the item that dispell the illusions the range is to short and butterfly will keep attacking you even if you try to use it, just run until she dispell them and hide in a pillar

2) the game tell you that you have to do dodged counters to break her posture , but what doesn't tell you it what attacks are the ones you have to dodge, you have to dodge is her jump kick, the special that she does from the air and her kick that she does after a combo , the rest you have to parry them

3) a very important one is that she has a swipe attack DO NOT DODGE IT, you have to jump and do a jump kick on her this one is FUNDAMENTAL because it break her posture HARD, she also does it in her second phase after a combo

4) if you harass her hard enough is theorically possible to block her in casting illusions I managed to get her to cast them with almost 90% of her posture gone

5) if the illusions are really being a nuisance use the shurikens, they fall after one hit and you can do it at a safe distance

6) after you deathblow her the first time she will appear near the statue at the end of the room you can wait for her there and hit her with the axe to blow a little bit of her posture bar

I also defeated the guy in the horse with a Lance but after fighting butterfly he was laughably easy because he has two problems one he can only use his left hand to attack you so you only have to stick to his right and second he doesn't have any particular super attack that you can't block in my opinion the horse handicapped him very hard , the shinobi killer was more harder than him, the bull was also a breeze with the firecrackers

Been very engaged with game but i discovered today that i went the wrong way apparently i was just going to Mobi village was it? the one where the crazy lady with the shamisen (that i have not defeated yet) and the cult that is always thirsty, i reached the phantom of the corrupted monk then suddenly someone on twitter say to me

"Did you defeat Genichiro?", and i did know who it was, the open world of this thing tricked me, if i had completed the castle i would have had the prosthetic that let you counter bullets that let you cheese the mini boss with the shotgun in the poison pool (i defeated him by just dodging everything) instead i went all the way down to the reservoir and keep going without stopping, when i returned and had the "hard" fight with Genichiro i was so buffed that i defeated him first try

I was disappointed because i thought he was going to be harder, he doesnt have many attacks that break posture (only a easily avoidable kick) and his specials are so dumb that i thought i over leveled, he only has a swipe that is easy to see it coming because he do a Legend of zelda with his sword (he does a dumb pose like he is charging it) the other is a stab that you can counter easily to break his posture , his arrows are easy to parry and if you use the healing gourd he will snipe you but he delay the shot so much that you can parry it easily

Now the problem i have now is the lady with the shamisen, i need a special item to defeat her? i have tried divine confetti but it doesn't do anything to her

O'Rin of the Water? Nah, you just need to be tighter with your deflections and perilous attack counters.

I did that but is practically a slugfest because she keeps evading me then she recover her posture to quickly, maybe now that i have a little more attack power thanks to the memory of genichiro going to try again and do the same technique i did with Tokujiro (chip his life little by little to deathblow him)

Chipping is required, but it takes a while with O'rin to build up because of the jump in and out style of attack she does. Don't really need any items, just good timing and patience.

The first round i went the easy way and used the enhanced Sabimaru to destroy her posture (thanks twitter for telling me that nailing a combo with that weapon drop her posture to almost 80%), the second round i chipped all her life in a breeze using Divine confetti, that thing is like the WD-40 of this game, it goes with everything and thanks to FromSoftware to put a patch to raise the rate of drop of that thing because oh boy you are going to need them

Going to farm more confettis to fight the Headless

When you get to the end game, there will be a merchant that sells unlimited Divine Confetti, take half an hour or so to farm and buy as many of those as you can for NG+. Save up on the nonsense of having to farm them for headless bosses.

I'm more grinding for money to buy Gourd seeds and skill points to buy the perks of the Ichimonji skill tree i found that technique very useful against the illusion corrupted monk because it stun him when you land it and you recover posture the only problem is that sometimes it fails to hit even if you are close dont know why, maybe its a bug, the ichimonji has become my to go skill because the Nightjar slash has a delay after you use it that let you vulnerable to a slash

I know i did the thing backwards but now im going to Mt Kongo to get the mortal sword and prepare for the true ending that as i far as i know is the Return one(that i had to read a guide because im to lazy to investigate in game how to do it)

So i am still without internet and there is no fuel so there is no work so i decided to git gud and finally finish Sekiro, i have to admit this thing was hard as nails (i only had Dark souls 1 as experience and never managed to finish it) so im going to post a huge battle log to help those who get it in discount in a sale, believe me, is better that i was reading in the wikis they dont explain jack shit

Dont know if its true but this guy can supposedly be killed in one round if you have the Mortal Blade, i did not have it because i could not find a way to Sempou temple until i explored again all the world, this guy as i will explain later will count as "giant" enemies, they use their huge bodies to attack you so parry them is not recommended, only his second form use a huge ass sword that you can parry and he has a scream that affect you with Terror, the best strategy for his first form is use firecrackers if you see that he become a nuisance, his headless form is more manageable because you can parry his attack, when he began to drink blood for his head run because the scream has a very long range, he only in this form a erratic sword slash that you can parry, a body slam and a swipe, nothing to fancy

Btw you can fight him again in Ashina depths but is the same thing only that he came with a buddy, well, a mate if you follow the lore, if you read the description of the Lotus of the palace you will see that in reality the Ape was not attacking you out of malice, he was defending the flower to give it to his bride, because he felt lonely for being immortal, i theorized that he became immortal by drinking the water of the Bodhisattva valley that actually come from Fountainhead palace (if you kill the King carp with true precious bait his body will end where you fight the ape)

SEKIRO SHADOWS DIE TWICE Screenshot 2019.05.24 - 14.46.37.97.png

This guy is a joke, his attacks are slow, he only has a stab that you can Mikiri counter the hell out of it, and his posture breaks easily but i had to admit that it took me killing him two times to notice that you have to throw him out of the bridge so he can plummet to his dead, like DSP would say "puzzle boss dood"

SEKIRO SHADOWS DIE TWICE Screenshot 2019.05.24 - 15.54.35.33.png

SEKIRO SHADOWS DIE TWICE Screenshot 2019.05.24 - 15.59.27.95.png

I cant give you any good tips to kill them because i nailed them by accident, the green one got stuck in the dark room for some reason (he went right and for until i slashed and killed him, even when that is not his room, the purple one was waiting for me in the room where you open a door to let the wind in i found him when chasing another monkey and deathblowed him from the air, the red and purple i just chase them in the roofs until i killed them, it was more tedious that it sounds

SEKIRO SHADOWS DIE TWICE Screenshot 2019.05.24 - 18.08.28.44.png

This freaking guy is HARD let me tell you, he has almost the same skills that you have, even the firecrackers, you have to wait for his big attacks and be careful of his grenade that actually seal you for healing thankfully his throw is slow so you can slash him there but run immediately because even the smoke of the greande can seal you, be EXTRA careful when you the first deathblow him because he will do three things, one is pleading for his life only to trick you, the other is use oil and firecrackers and the other i saw was using smoke poison also DO NOT STAB HIM, NEVER EVER, HE CAN USE MIKIRI COUNTER AND WILL ONE SHOT KILL YOU IF YOU DO, for this fight is MANDATORY to have the second tier of the Ishimonji skills that let you do more damage to his posture

SEKIRO SHADOWS DIE TWICE Screenshot 2019.05.24 - 21.39.45.03.png

SEKIRO SHADOWS DIE TWICE Screenshot 2019.05.24 - 21.39.52.52.png

I have to admit that i watched the disabled player video so i pretty much knew what to expect she is not that hard because her first form is just her shadow that you found in the door of the cave, lancer users have it rough here just keep your distance and mikiri counter the hell of out it, when the centipede is out of her body be careful of her terror attacks, dont be cocky, the game expect you to over extend and made all enemies to counter you if you do

SEKIRO SHADOWS DIE TWICE Screenshot 2019.05.24 - 23.27.01.57.png

SEKIRO SHADOWS DIE TWICE Screenshot 2019.05.24 - 23.27.10.03.png

Another puzzle boss, he is not hard, first he is going to throw you a dragon that vomit poison just wait until the trees appears and deathblow anyof them, Sekiro will finish them with a slash that kill several in one hit, now when the big boss himself appear just pay attention to the trees that spark, grapple them and do Lightning reversal (in the air press the guard button when the thunder come then use the attack button to shoot it at the dragon) his attacks consist in a slash that throw a shockwave and a swipe that you can jump, when he become more desperate he will spam it but you have to run until you find the trees that sparkle to keep damaging him until you beat him, i cant say you deathblow him because the thing you do is just cut his eye to get his tears

SEKIRO SHADOWS DIE TWICE Screenshot 2019.05.25 - 15.30.21.86.png

SEKIRO SHADOWS DIE TWICE Screenshot 2019.05.25 - 15.30.32.82.png

This guy is H A R D more harder than the final boss let me tell you but if you have the patience to spare you can survive him, so let me tell you how i did it, first of all you need to prepare with several things, get anti burn medicine, the Suzaku shield (VERY IMPORTANT) and the maledict finger whistle (you get it by defeating the second guardian ape then coming back to defeat the shaman), also max the spiritual emblem skill, and VERY VERY IMPORTANT buy the Spiral cloud passage skill from the jar noble in fountainhead palace, this attack will help you even vs isshin because it hit hards, it hits plenty and it doesnt need spiritual emblems to use it ok lets get to it

First phase: you have to wait until he do his three hit combo, you will notice it because his arm will begin to burst in flames when he is going to do his third attack RUN TO HIM DIRECTLY AND TO HIS LEFT, you will be unharmed and can nail a spiral cloud passage in his legs for more damage, if you see that you can't make it, counter the third slash (is a overhead one) with the Suzaku shield, that will stun him, keep slashing him until he does three things, he will jump backwards to evade you, he will try to stomp you but you can parry his feet or he will try to body slam you and create a shockwave, just jump it and grapple him to avoid damage and slash him some more until you deathblow him, he can also do the third slash without the other two, you can do the same trick, dont go to him when he throw himself to the ground, dont risk cheap shots you need to deathblow him three times so wasting health is not a option, if he try to ram you with his attack where he is dragging his left arm just jump, yeah just jump i think is a bug but even when actually touch you when you are jumping you will be unharmed

Second phase: he get two new attacks but both are easily avoidable, first he will burn the ground very extensively but you can evade it by jumping to the sides or if you are nearby you can grapple him the other is that he is going to throw some kind of fire rocks but only run toward him to get a cheap shot at him and keep running until he stops, he will keep his old attacks remember the slashes

Third phase: this is where shit hit the fan but with :TACTICS: you can survive, he will try to encircle you in a zone full of fire, when he begin to create it he will do a swipe attack jump it and then run out of the fire field, this is important because the space inside the fire field is to narrow and it will be for all purpose a death warrant, just get out of there and keep the same strategy as the other two phases, when he has like 1/4 left of his health he will become relentless but thankfully we are prepared arent we? get close to him and use the maledict whistle finger, that will stun him and then keep hitting him with everything you got, if he recover, stun him again you can do it three times but two will suffice

SEKIRO SHADOWS DIE TWICE Screenshot 2019.05.25 - 20.56.36.47.png

SEKIRO SHADOWS DIE TWICE Screenshot 2019.05.25 - 20.56.42.03.png

This guy compared to Butterfly and Demon of hatred is not that hard let me tell you what to do in his three phases

Phase 1: he has a sword, so he will do a iai slash that is to open and you can use Spiral cloud passage on him to deal damage, a trick i noticed is that if you hit the 5 hits of the combo he will not counter you, he will jump backwards and prepare his next attack but sometimes he will counter you with three slash, just pay attention if he jumps or not, his other attacks is his signature move Dragon flash where he send a cut with a shockwave but this attack is easily avoidable and also left him open for hits, sometimes he will try to stab you but you can mikiri counter him

Phase 2: he get a spear and become more dangerous the attack you need to pay attention is when he jump to slam the lance to the ground, run away from it but wait because he will come to you FAST, dont try to run just parry it and when he stops pay attention to his pose, if he try to get up normally, hit him with the spiral cloud, but if he jump parry him because he will attack you at a distance with the spear, he also get a gun now but his bullets can be easily parried, you can also get close to him when he does his other combos because they always end with him charging a super attack that you can run, but left him open and a stab that you can mikiri counter

Phase 3: mostly the same only that he acquire a new counter and attack that is a big swipe or a big overhead slash that is charged with lightning, both have a huge range and he will use it as a normal attack and a counter the swipe can be jumped and the overhead just run to evade it, if you remember i tell you to nail the 5 hits of the spiral cloud he will not counter you?, well here is where i noticed it after dying like 12 times, if you nail them is very probable that you will never see him using it the lightning attacks just keep evading and waiting for his big attack until you behead him and finish him for good

SEKIRO SHADOWS DIE TWICE Screenshot 2019.05.25 - 23.35.36.65.png

SEKIRO SHADOWS DIE TWICE Screenshot 2019.05.25 - 23.35.48.47.png

And that were the main bosses i fighted, sadly my internet is going to the shit but i also killed all the other mini bosses for that sweet prayer beads, they are just remixes of bosses you already defeated one of the most laughable easily was the guy with the claws that was in Sempou temple and after Gun fort, thanks to the Ichimonji perks i just parry his full combo and his posture break without me doing anything, the second time he get help but they fall after 1 hit of the shurikens , the "Ashina elites" were the most dangerous i faced but after i get their trick they also falled, the only thing they have is that two fast slash that deal a ton of damage but if you parry them their posture break completely and you can deathblow them

A little end note, if you go to new game + you can actually defeat Genichiro the first time you meet him, he will become a sore loser that call a ninja to throw a shuriken to distract you then he will slash your arm off when you parry it
