If you want this to work you need to cut down the reactions. The jammies should implement the “be nice” dictum.
The mods should do the following:

Advise posters if they are being a dick and gently admonish them for crap posts.
Aggressively threadban people being deliberately provocative and just wanting asspats.
Notify the moderator board immediately if anyone is making death/violence threats.

Gentle, timely preemptive intervention before things escalate is needed. This sort of board needs someone who has awareness of political theory, and who can advise the autists who shitpost the error of their ways.

Uhh, if those posts are representative of what you think represents the paranoia/rage problem that Thunderdome boards have, I can save you some time and just say you're not going to like that section of the website no matter what I do. I'm more focused on that stuff directed at other users, not people rudely expressing political opinions to the void.

I believe the argument is that it's probably not a coincidence that the same people flipping out about how there are too many people on earth and we're destroying the climate are the same group of people pushing the megagaytroon agenda. So population control would matter a lot to them.

I feel like the whole "less people" argument is very fringe, even among environmental types. Stuff like switching from burning for electricity, not using ICE cars (or cars in general), and not destroying thousands of acres of natural habitat, would be better for the environment than "not having as many people".

Abortions, Homosexy, Troons, Destruction of the nuclear family, Climate extremism/alarmism, etc. all ideologically supported by the same group of people and all coincidentally lead to or straight out call for, fewer people. Really the best solution in my opinion would be to have more moderators in the political section than others and have a strong outline for what they need to handle so that responses could be quick. Mostly it would probably be coming in when a slap fight starts to go critical and deescalating it in a way that's clear they aren't taking sides and both/all parties are being told to calm down if they're at fault. The other thing is maybe having some kind of appeal process, which is benefitted from multiple moderators as then it's harder for a user to say it's just one biased mod that leans a certain way being biased.

But yea, the whole shitfest that happens in some of those threads probably also doesn't have a good solution and just needs constant attention as people can't help but invest their emotions into things that they have no control over.

Honestly I imagine if you really wanted to some kind of script could be made to replace random words in a post with a slur chosen from a pre-made list. Although with that said, automation could take the fun out of that idea though.
