Selecting a Despot for the Autism Thunderdome

There are some good suggestions that have been made in this thread and I do think that if they were well applied, they would help with managing A&H. I also really like @Clout $ Monei 's idea about tying posted that are highlighted to a high number of "informative" reacts. Other members have already voiced their concerns about needing to trim the fat/noise in massive, rapidly updated, happenings threads, and I think that implementing this kind of post-highlighting system would make navigating those threads and getting to the meat of the topic much less painful.


We could make a minimum post count one of many conditions required to access A&H. I have had experience with communities that had a sub forum hidden from guests and new users. In that case, members had to have been members for at least 6 months, reached a minimum post threshold, and had to be in good standing (ex: no recent warnings or temporary bans) before access was granted. Not disclosing the eligibility criteria made it such that users were less likely to spam low effort posts to rack up their post count.

EDIT: I just wanted to add that I acknowledge that the potential for abuse does exist (as with any system) and there will always be someone who slips through the cracks, but it could be something to consider. It may even slow things down a tad which might be a plus depending on your preferences.

I am almost certain highlights are already weighted towards informative rates. It's not that it's a bad suggestion, just one that I think is already in place.

The people who would make good A&N mods are people who share the ideology of the core population, at least somewhat respect it, or are actual openly enthusiastic supporters, but don't completely tard out when their minority opinions are disagreed with.

All sides need to be heard because only then can someone make an informed decision about what they agree/disagree with, regardless of their place on the political spectrum.

3 "what to do with A&H" threads ago I said taking away the trashcan would be a mistake and shit up threads with 'you're fucking dumb' posts. By the time I made this point the poster already had 10 replies of 'fuck off retard.' It's not a grave it's the future we @Null chose.

But if it means I'd be able to fuck with the subforum that Null is probably shutting down soon anyway, then I will do it.

This is the 4th or 5th time the Ooperator has threatened to kill the subforum in the 4 years I've been here. All that's ever come of it was the sticker holocaust. Don't get your hopes up, you'll just be disappointed. Only reason this is being brought up again is Null is fed up with stacks of reports from the Ukraine thread(s) filling up his dashboard and wants someone to babysit the subforum for him.

Honestly, turning off report function for the thunderdome would solve his problem. Someone would message him if there is something important(illegal) to deal with.

Expressing a minority or conflicting opinion is different from shitting up a thread with leftypol insults and infographics but I agree, there's a lot of that lately.

Also the political landscape itself changes in the blink of an eye. Last year Antifa was waving Soviet flags around, now you have alt right types doing it, although I think the former was dead serious and the latter are just trolling.

Allows mods freedom of action to meet the changing circumstances of any thread. Possible actions - informal/formal warnings, temporary/permanent threadban, temporary/permanent ban from the board.

Second rule - No actionable threats against anyone, period. Automatic permanent ban from the board.

Third - No kiddie porn, period. Automatic permanent ban from the board, would provide to law enforcement as requested.

Fourth - All posts shall be in English only. Anything posted in a language other than English shall have an accurate accompanying translation.

Fifth - Double-posting is okay. Would rather get the info/contribution to the thread than see someone not posting it due to fear of double-posting.

We all need to remember this is Null's board, even if we contribute to it financially. He takes all the risk. When justified, Null has no problems telling the authorities to fuck off. But when justified, Null has no problems cooperating with law enforcement. Wouldn't have it any other way.

My opinion is that A&H is a victim of current partisanism that's pretty much going on everywhere. The problem is where do we limit the partisianism? The endless amount of jewposting, conspiracy theories, necroing threads....it's like walking into a living pile of diarrhea with a sponge and a child's sand bucket full of water, asking how to clean it up.

My moderation style has been 'No fedposting, beat each other to death if you want, fuck it'. Because there's not really any rules like @Null said. The thing is you have to have non-partisan moderators, which in this time of extreme partisanisim is extremely fucking hard. So you have to balance it with mods who have opposing viewpoints.

I'll use an example of what A&H is. It is Attica during the prison riots. Everyone is rioting, tearing shit up until there was a literal council made up with representatives of all the racial gangs in the place; white, black, hispanic, asian or what the fuck ever. You choose a majority one way or the other and everything is going to fuck it up. You basically have the despot there beating people in the face with pipes so it doesn't shift one way or the other.

You basically need a complete sociopathic retard who just likes beating people when things go wrong to keep everyone else in line. So a bunch of mods with disparate political views organized by a despotic sociopath who likes hurting things. The mods must fear him more than the userbase.

As for the userbase, I've got a couple of ideas:

1) If you necro a post with no significant updates, you are permanently banned from the use of the cesspit.

2) One word posting anywhere, you are permanently banned from the cesspit.

3) All new users have to have posts vetted by moderators to see if they're here to make a fucking political movement or some shit. This should be done secretly, and if found guilty of being an absolute fucking retard, permanently banned from posting in the cesspit.

4) Any off topic posting in an on-topic article will result in a thread ban for everyone who replies or instigated it. If you're having arguments about circumcision or abortion in a thread about high gas prices, I am fucking banning you. I cannot fucking count the number of times I have to scroll past retarded shit not on topic to get to people discussing the actual thing at hand.

5) If a discussion is not going anywhere and is not getting moved and just degenerates into people calling each other names and screaming at each other, you will each get one warning and banned from the cesspit for 3 days as a cool down period. The next time it happens, you are permanently banned from the cesspit.

6) If you are intentionally starting shit with people, you will get one warning and banned from the cesspit for 3 days. The next time it happens, you are permanently banned from the cesspit.

7) All bans are final. There will be no discussion or re-instatement or pleas of mercy. You will get two in the back of the head and we will leave your corpse in a ditch and not speak of you again.

All I wanted to do with A&H was talk about modern politics in a free space with no risk of getting banned, hunted down or cancelled for a certain point of view. And shit posting jokes or 'hot takes'. Of course, then you have fed posters and just people who cannot. shut. the. fuck. up. about a certain topic. Then I see literal schizophrenics and I'm like 'oh god here it comes'. So, the only way to have full freedom of speech about your views is to have some fucking civility about it. The other choice is a bullet and an open grave in the forest so the animals can get to you.

The only way to really reign the board in is with an iron fist if you want no limits (except fedposting) on freedom of speech. I don't care about HHH. I don't care about progressives or trannies or whatever. I just want to read funny shit and long post and talk about shit in an environment where I don't have to worry if I hurt someone's feelings.

An offending poster, depending on severity of offense, would be provided a list of lengthy vtuber clips, often featuring manic Japanese women speaking quickly and over one another. They would be required to accurately answer a bare minimum of questions, questions which the answer could only be obtained by watching through the entire clip, to reenter the forum.

I think a big issue is that when these shootings or some other big event happens, we have like one or two pages of actual content followed by 100 of theories and reposts of old info. If I was in charge, I'd just lock the A&N thread until new info arrised and have everyone post in a happening thread instead.
