There is a fundamental problem behind the Thunderdome. Null and the regular users, I presume, hate politics and want AnH to be a subforum dedicated to laughing at political retards. But the regular users of AnH take politics much more seriously and in the mind of your average nonpolitical kiwi, it's full of exactly the people they want to make fun of.

And that's fine, whatever, but you see the issue is that the userbases are too fundamentally different. Null wants AnH posters to join the culture but that ship has sailed a long time ago. AnH users come here because they care about politics, and regular users avoid it because they do not. I take care to avoid saying AnH is serious about politics because as you can see in this very thread it just takes one or two people from either side to stir the shit for it to devolve entirely into retarded, vitriolic sperging.

Moderation will not fix this. I had some ideas and maybe they were good, maybe they were bad, but this is an issue that has metastatized and must be fixed soon. Null, you have created two different cultures, one on purpose and one on accident, like a petri dish you've spilled a contaminant on and forgot about until the colony had already grown and mixed in with your carefully cultivated sample.

I love AnH. I don't want to see it go because I like shooting the shit and cracking jokes about politics and retarded politicians because it makes me feel a bit better. But Null, if you really want things to get better, you're going to have to excise the tumor.
