Selecting a Despot for the Autism Thunderdome

  • 🔧 At about Midnight EST I am going to completely fuck up the site trying to fix something.
In honesty, you're probably going to have to ban some people if you want the board to be enforced how you wish to see it, otherwise people are just going to keep flinging shit eternally.
If you read my post I don't really have a clear idea of how to accomplish what I want. I am looking for someone who does. Whatever route I end up going will require some diligence to maintain and I really just don't want to moderate political shit.

Generally that type of actions generates more & more hate from the others in the same area. History was repeated by the same mistakes, and that's one of them.
At this point, i'm more into creating a ruleset for both users & mods about keeping a stable stance when discussing something (actually the community guidelines but more enforced). Users had like 3 warnings before a temporal ban. After that, if 2 warnings are passed on, a permanent one with a one-chance to redeem.
Oh, and every ban is actually discussed by the moderation team by voting. Democracy can work, boys.

Now, about being a voluunter; guys, you know what is my position about politics in general; i really want the state burn at once for all, but generally i take a neutral stance. Now, about time... that's the problem.

mods (besides cat party, sorry) should have to approve the threads/ articles that get posted and evaluate whether or not it’s going to lead to meaningful conversation. it would make the board very slow but it would cut back on the doom/boomer/rage posting pretty hard and hopefully increase the quality there.
Why don’t we just have a daily posting limit for Autistic thunder dome?
breddy good idear.

I've been thinking a bit about this. I have some ideas on how the nuclear option might be avoided.

A) Schizo-reactionarism needs to go. There's no value added to a community that can only say every mass shooting is a glow-op and it causes too much problems.

B) Informative Posters need to be valued. If you post links, videos, photos and extra info often, in my eyes you are more valuable that just text posters. If there's a dispute, the informative poster should be valued.

C) Use lower signal-to noise ration to measure success. I should be able to click the "next highlight" a couple of times to get valuable info.. If there is useless, and not informative posts in such a quantity that highlights don't work then the mods should act.

D) Choose someone who is ruthless for a determined amount of time.. I don't think the gradual approach will work. Either they comply and becoe informative and not-schizo rambling infighters or they are out. After a while of ruthlesness the comunity will be easier to handle and the mods can just cruise.

I mean people already remove your posts if you go off topic in most threads, having a posting limit would help.

Removing schizo sounds like a good start

I am interested in applying for a position as janny. A&H is a stagnant pool and I shall be the chlorine.

On a related note, a thread post limit would greatly help to discourage outrage farming and getting @CatParty to actually do his job. Back then I remember when A&H would lock threads that are two weeks old, so I suggest we can probably reintroduce that too.

tbf it works in most parts of the site, just not a&h
3. Autism Thunderdome, which may be distinguished from off-topic because its discussions are combative.

I use the term 'combative' to distinguish off-topic from A&H. This is why people hate that board and its users. Everywhere else on the site, there is a team. People generally understand and appreciate that this site and our community is balanced on a fucking thread. A&H does not get that. They are mostly users who joined after all of our largest problems were taken care of and don't care about the rest of the site. I feel these users are exploitative and see the forum as a means to an end rather than something to contribute to.

What I need is someone who has an idea of how to run the entire category of Autism Thunderdome, with an emphasis on maintaining unity within the community. It can't just be a dumping ground of political extremism with continuous slapfights.
I don't think that problem is limited to kf and a&h. The world in general seems unable to properly discuss political issues without it devolving into political extremism and slap fights. I think it becomes more amplified here though due to the relatively loose rules around speech kf has. Even on a few other forums I browse more specifically geared towards politics and similar issues, I've seen a big shift in the quality of discourse towards extremism and slapfighting. These are forums with fairly strict rules around language and other things.

Politics will always bring some level of disagreement or combativeness especially with a userbase the size of kf's.

People should no longer expect to be allowed to treat the forum with reckless disregard on the assumption that I can deal with the consequences of what they say and do.

What exactly are people saying that have the potential for causing negative consequences? That's a fairly vague statement.

In general though, I do think standards for archiving should be enforced in a&h. Especially with the tendancy for mews articles to be retracted or ghost edited at some future date.

Killing A&H and leaving it alone, as you say, won't work. So the shitters must be punished. A karma/updoot solution won't work due to the sheer volume of shitters.

Give overlordship to HHH or one of the terf lesbians and have them issue gay porn avs viewable only to designated forum shitters. Most of them are too pig ignorant to block the css. Sigs and custom titles can also be used to highlight their repressed degeneracy. Add the most objectionable countdown timer to the post fucntion for shitters only, with the time/horror increasing as they accumulate defecation violations.

In short, identify those people you absolutely hate and rather than just banning them, make it as painful as possible for them to participate in the shitting up of your forums while leaving the rest of the userbase in blissful ignorance. Except for the jannies, who should always suffer.
