Selecting a Despot for the Autism Thunderdome

I just had a thought about this, but does anyone know what the exact criteria is for threads in Happenings? It seems like it has a lot of significant megathreads for politically related events, wars, and mass shootings but it also has stuff about Youtubers returning and news about an apparently important Union meeting.

If there's one genuine, observable way in that A&N has a culture problem, it's this 4chan-borne issue where they think that ignoring spergs is somehow dishonorable, or some shit. They think that reading page after page of stale bait is some sort of dumb goddamn internet rite of passage that makes you strong like ox. And then, despite being totally above it all and wise to all the internet's tricks, they take the bait over and over, shitting up threads with a collection of bait posts and asperger's-laden replies to people who have no intention of arguing in good faith.

It's one thing to create a carefully curated hugbox of only approved opinions. But it's quite another to filter out unfunny retards whose sense of humor stopped evolving in 2010 and think that trolling internet randos is somehow not pathetic.
The thing that makes any and all arguments against it even more retarded by several orders of magnitude is this:

You can still very easily see anyone you've blocked's posts. It's not even like you're missing anything if you do block users, you can see their content and are given an alert of sorts when there's blocked content on the page.
That is total horseshit, even in it's function BP and IF have more in common than the other boards have with A&H, specifically being about lolcows, where as A&H is, well, about reading articles and news.
What the hell is the rest of the site except focused news on specific people? Besides that's completely stepping around my point that the culture in A&H isn't any more "foreign" to the regular user than the Weeb Wars section - a section I'd argue has integrated even less into the larger site than A&H users.
Also yes I see it very common for A&H'ers to leave their reservation and shit up other threads, and it's way more prevalent than you make it out to be.
Sure but that's also how you get people to integrate. They leave, get ridiculed and roundly "verbally" beaten for being a retard, and they slowly get it. It's still not a problem to the extent you or anyone else who brings this up seems to act like it is.
If A&N is so horrible why am I there so often? Oh wait, is this some kind of a breakthrough! Holy shit, I'm a piece of shit!
You say this but you're one of the perfect examples - another would be @Stupid Asshole - of lefties who regularly engage with A&H and don't get "attacked" or whatever the fuck people are crying about. Perhaps it's because you guys aren't crybabies who throw tantrums because people are allowed disagree with you.

Occasionally you get the A&H posters Null was talking about in the OP going to other threads and derailing everything because they want to scream about politics. The RLM thread had it happen a few times recently.
You're the one who wants to make it a hugbox.
You're thinking backwards, but I suspect you knew that and are being disingenuous again.
HHH would just pay to fuck you in a paywalled board, so I agree, out of the picture.
Wrong @AnOminous. You're a FAT piece of shit.

Null said:
I am splitting Articles & Happenings into Articles and Happenings.

1. This board does not need an article to start it. Tweets, images, videos, etc work fine in their stead.
2. If an article is supplied, it should not have its contents copied over. Excerpts are OK.
3. For it to be a happening, there must be a serious, inevitable, or already-come-to-pass risk of death.
4. Sufficiently massive happenings with their own Happenings may break off into multiple threads.

Continue posting news articles in Articles. I will be changing the top rules to reflect this new concept. This board used to be for mass shootings only.
I'd link the actual OP of Happenings' pinned post but it won't let me.

Typically it’s an event of thing going on in the world that isn’t limited to a news article. It’s a “hey, here’s a big thing going on in the world/online/ect. Anyone want to talk about it?”

Even politically neutral forums were transformed by TDS sufferers who seemed relatively normal or at least tolerant for well over a decade prior, and suddenly I was ostracized or banned for not bending the knee. I wasn't even very political before or during 2016, so it wasn't me who changed.

Point being, oldfags can change or radicalize, and then change the places they have influence over, especially if they're chummy with the site owner.
I don't disagree with this notion and certainly in the past 6 years a lot changed,
What I'm saying is that I don't think this is happening here. You are making an appeal to Null but the point of the OP is that it's not just the "libtards" who feel this way and that he's already near the end of his rope with /pol/ gypsies, analogizing this vague category to parasites and viruses. When you argue with oldfags who could potentially defend new users as viable and reasonable and say that the older users are the ones who are becoming radical, I don't think it's a useful strategy if the website's maintainer is already leaning so far in the opposite direction.

they laugh and rage about cows, a&h just laughs and rages about news and the world at large.

to be fair that would happen even without a&h, impossible to say how it would affect it's frequency tho.

and for the record, I think we need to separate a&n and happenings (no idea about deep thoughts) even if they're stuck in the same subforum. for me at least happenings seems to be far less retarded usually. maybe because they move to their containment thread(s) in a&n or need to stick to the topic at large, dunno.

You're the one who wants to make it a hugbox.
Telling someone to stop sperging out because a movie review by some schlubby guys didn’t attack a political side enough isn’t “making it a hugbox”. It’s telling someone to stop being exceptional.
