Selecting a Despot for the Autism Thunderdome

NORMALIZE THE IGNORE BUTTON
ALL MY HOMIES USE THE IGNORE BUTTON

P.S. HK-47 was the best A&H mod we ever had. Rest in peace, king.
I don't want to go too far off topic, but can you please elaborate what criteria you use to ignore people? That is a hell of a list.

That's some serious curation. Almost like you barely want to interact. I'm not gonna call you a coward, but if you aren't trolling, you are a fine example of what I mean by someone not able to discuss politics. You have to have an open mind to do so with any measure of success. I disagree with some of the posters you have blocked on many things. I still want to hear their views whether I like them or not on a forum about politics and current events.
There are a bunch of reasons I ignore people, namely if they are shit posters who add nothing humorous or insightful to the thread. I don't care how you feel about it, using the ignore button helps not only you enjoy the site more, but also helps everyone else enjoy it the long run as well.

Use the ignore button.

See above. However, something important to note: The ignore button is not permanent. You can disable it. And at any point if you see that people are engaging with someone who you have ignored and think "oh hey maybe they made a good post" you just click the "show me anyway" button and you can see and interact with their post. For example, @JosephStalin. He's on that list because I find his "Of note" posts in the ukraine thread annoying. I used that button in this thread because it was obvious people were interacting with his post and I wanted to be clued in on it. I add and remove people from it all the time because of this.

Use the ignore button.

The thing with the negrates was that people had the absolute AUDACITY to negrate their posts and not argue with them like a man. Mostly it was about their numbers going down from people who were just negrating everything they were saying no matter what it was. And then it got more out of control from there.
But I ask them: why do they care about their numbers going down?

If it works for you man, more power to ya. I just can't bring myself to ignore anyone. To me it's too limiting. I may vehemently disagree with someone, but I still want to hear what they have to say. If they're obviously shitposting or just trolling, I'll scroll past the post and roll my eyes.

You really can't bring yourself to ignore even someone who is intentionally shitting up a thread?

You're just posturing now. Hey what's this button do?

How about, and I'm going to sound a bit extreme here...
Unless someone is posting CP, or breaking the law in some manner that will get Null fucked, we don't ban and moderate people.
If someone says something that upsets you (i.e. Vince is a coward for fleeing his military service while at the same time cheerleading from Poland), you have several choices.
1) Click the ignore button
2) Reply and debate
3) Don't reply and get on with your life.
The desire to ban people for hurt feels or thoughts different to your own is the same pathetic shit that ruined D&D on SA.
Grow up or fuck off to Reddit.

@Null

Jannysaries need to issue selective thread bans to most active users as means of cooldown.

If the thread banned user brings a sock before cooldown is expired - cooldown period increase by a power of 10. 3 infractions and you are banned from Autistic Thunderdome. The rest of the community is available. Circumvention just bans you from AT, no need to issue a sitewide ban.

Jannysaries should create a locked topic, where all the users can see who got thread banned. If a threadban is for a specific reason - link a thread and explain why.

News threads - locked after crossing 50 pages.
Happenings - rebrand as discussions, lock threshold - 1000 pages, then topic is deleted, users are free to recreate the topic again but it has to be clearly shown in the topic name what is the topic about. Jannysaries are permitted to exercise their judgement, subject to your oversight. Off-topic results in three-strike cooldown rule outlined above.

Also, introduce routine randomized bannings. Users reaching three strikes and already banned from Autistic Thunderdome will be eligible for a month ban at random on selected days. If they attempt to circumvent the ban and get detected - permaban.

I think it won't stop dedicated faggots, but it will thin out the herd significantly.
I don't see you surviving your own system, faggot.

I think you should make me head moderator for the autism thunderdome. Below is a list of credentials you should consider before hiring me

1. I will only do things when I feel like it
2. I only want this job so that I can ban people I don't like
3. I have no technical knowledge whatsoever but I am willing to watch youtube tutorials if needed
4. I am not a tranny
5. I will do it for free

I assume you have my contact information

but the circumstances demand some form of moderation.
In what way? No fedposting is already a rule and obviously people shouldn't post anything illegal. This is just people bitching that they might have mean things said to them if they post in A&H. And if it's going to be moderated like the rest of the site then the name might as well be changed to the Comfydome because there's no slapfights. Part of the reason people even use this section is because of the unmoderated discussion between users.

In all honesty I think bringing A&H to heel will ultimately be a mistake but Null seems dead set on fixing what isn't broken for his own reasons, and it's not like anybody's going to convince him otherwise so I suppose it's inevitable. It was good while it lasted I guess.
