When I joined the forum, I was instantly added to the Abrasive Retards thread (or PM chain, I don't remember) and assumed it was a trial-by-fire sort of thing for new people. When it was closed for further replies, quite a few of the same users (myself included) dove headfirst into threads like Abortion Debate Containment and started flailing around.

Others have brought it up, but would it be feasible to have one thread for people who are abrasive and retarded (again, myself included) to post in instead of being banned? They could still say their piece and/or howl into the void, just out of sight of people looking for news and information only.

Megathread the "hot button" issues like abortion, gun control etc, hand out thread bans for someone even thinking of derailing or sperging. Maybe give each mega thread its own dedicated mod then it's not a Herculean task to keep up and have a head mod for appeals, advising thread mods etc.

The Megathreads seem to encourage high content to noise ratio by their very nature. The only problem I've ever seen in the Megathreads are baitposters, people taking the bait, and autists @ing speds like HHH with the sole purpose of causing a derail.

I think that this on-topic behavior of Megathreads ought to be encouraged. Stricter standards of posting in a Megathread. Low and no-content posting should be for one-off threads that are going to quickly fade into the background.

That way you aggregate the best (and worst) content in places that are going to keep good content good and prevent the dumpster fires from spreading, and people can still shitpost in their designated shitting streets because bobs&vagene.
