What do you do for self care? Do you have routines set? Do you clean your house or room often, or have a maid come and clean up your place every few weeks due to being busy? Do you do a skin care routine? Do you have designated days for doing important things versus relaxation? Discuss!

When I'm feeling particularly depressed I go down to the hospice for a free gummer bc there's a good chance it's someone's dying wish

Do you consider cleaning and tidying up your place self-care? To be honest, I never heard of the concept, so I googled it. This is the definition according to WHO. Basically, it's taking care of yourself and your health in every aspect.

I googled a bit more and another website mentioned wearing makeup, painting your nails or even shopping for clothes as self-care, which I find dumb because don't see how those activities can improve a person's (a woman's, more precisely) general wellbeing. So my question is, can makeup and nail polish, and similar shit, really count as self-care?

The colloquial definition of self-care in modern Western society is being self indulgent, even to the point of being self destructive, because someone said something you don't like on the internet or TV and it upset you.

I completely agree, that's the answer. I dare to say consumerism has made us believe that consooming is a form of self-care as well.

I agree with what break these cuffs said. My definition is anything you do to keep yourself mentally, physically, or emotionally well. Athletes put marks on their calendar of when to practice and when to rest, and keep up with physicals. An office worker might take a long hike in the woods every other week or so to connect back to nature.

I'd say putting make up on yourself can occasionally be self care: if you use it occasionally to feel fancy or confident, that's fine. If you used to put on make up before you're married but now you don't and want to do it again on occasion to feel attractive to yourself, then do it. It is always how you use it, whether it is a crutch or just a signal for your brain to relax and enjoy itself. A glass of wine a week for fun or celebrating the end of a hard week is different from getting shitfaced every night so you don't have to remember your life choices, everything in moderation and all that.
Self care? Get a woman to care for you. Let her take care of that.
But what if me woman???? What if I get woman and she got me to care for her??? What we do then???
You ever put a .50AE hollow point through a big can of expired nacho cheese?
No, but I really want to now!

self-care is a true faggot concept
You're in the beauty parlor dipshit, it's soy all the way down. :hah:

Even then, self care involves hygiene, treating your body right with diet & proper exercise, and challenging yourself without burning the candle at both ends. Chaddites become Chads because they learn how to take care of themselves, not because they indulge in binge eating or refuse to take showers. Even getting hurt and then properly nursing yourself back to health because you're focused on keeping your body well for yourself is self care.

Please tell me you shower for yourself, at least.

Every once in a while some high school or college kids will show up on the property, and I have some fun hunting them. Usually only lasts a few hours at most but sometimes I get lucky and there's a smart one in the group - I might get a full day out of the smart ones. Still, I consider that more of a treat than "self care."
