Self Defense in the UK - In case of an unprovoked assault

You're right. I think I ended up writing out a post and deleting it rather than sperging out and derailing the thread. If you want to learn how to fight and defend yourself with your hands, go to a reputable MMA gym. You will fight there. Doing single strikes at 30% speed with or without a weapon does not prepare you for a fight. If you do self defense training, it should look something like this. It will not be easy. It will not be pleasant. But with any luck, the water you sweat in training will be blood you don't leave on the pavement.

You have to be sure they will give you the straight shit. A lot of police don't know the real score in effective techniques either. Hopefully they at least know the law and can explain that.
 
I was talking to some friends I know from the UK who were here in the States on a visit.

The thing which blew my mind was that the woman couldn't carry a knife in her purse to stab a rapist, but she had to have an inspector look at her home and living conditions to ensure that they could adopt a cat. The cat, by the way, has no less than 18 razor-sharp knives on its person at all times. The cat also has more rights and protections than your average UK citizen.

Did they explain why they needed to look at the living conditions for the cat?

Was there a clause on their house that it wasn't intended for pets or something?

Nah just I am not in an area as fucked up as London.
But I know you think that because of the bad shit that does come out of England so whatever. And wouldn't an Islamic country be fine with you using weapons for self defense?
Islam sucks but I got the impression they were cool with that shit.

As far as I can tell the home was checked under the guise of ensuring that the cat had a door so it could freely go outside when it desired. They also needed to sign a pledge not to have the cat declawed, under penalty of fines and the loss of the animal. And she said that the inspectors would be back for a check up. I am unsure if this was local code or some sort of national law. I am pretty sure they were getting the animal through the RSPCA.

The woman (who is the one I originally knew of the group) is American and she chose to go over there. I keep telling them that they need to get the fuck out of there.

Funny you should mention that as this was the first verse that talked about fighting.

Despite how autistic the last paragraph is to be honest, it may be due to local laws or RSPCA, because we do have house cats in my area who obviously wouldn't use cat doors (or cat flaps as they called here).
 
We have the "Stand your ground law" in the United States of America. Its so easy to defend yourself, that sometimes even murderers go free under that law. Like George Zimmerman for example.

The stand your ground law was created so that white people can defend themselves using guns against the violent black criminals. Theres honestly just too many black people for us to not have that law basically.
 
Since pepper spray is illegal, I carry a small can of hairspray both to use in case of being attacked, and to keep my hair neat.
 
UK Self-Defence is as others have said - "unbelievably cucked".
The gist is this. If you use a "weapon" to defend yourself. It must be an improvised weapon picked up in the spur of the moment. This means that if you buy a cricket bat and keep it by your bedside to defend against robbers, that's seen as an offensive weapon, because you brought it solely for the purpose of using it to harm someone. If on the other hand, it was there because you play cricket, and you used it, you should (in theory) be covered. There is of course the idea of reasonable force used in self defence, where if you beat the shit out of the criminal too much, then you also get into trouble.

In the great police state that is the UK, the expected thing (from a police standpoint) is for you to allow the crime to occur and call the police and let them handle the matter. There was a case about a year ago where a 70+ year old man defended his home with his equally elderly and disabled wife from two burglars, managed to wrestle a screwdriver off of one of them, and kill him with it. Police still had him investigated, and did sweet fuck all when the family of the burglar came and harassed him. He ended up selling his home and leaving to get away from it.

We could talk about the legal theory and what the law says you can do (defend yourself with reasonable force, no duty to retreat - that's a factor in deciding whether it was "reasonable" etc - see here), and then there are the practical realities of having to deal with police/others.

Problem of course is plenty of Bongs are willing to let the police handle matters and wouldn't dare think to lower themselves to what those savage Americans have. Personally I would much rather prefer a stand your ground sort of law like you have in the States. Makes it (theoretically) easy to defend yourself if you get into shit.
