Self-Sufficient Meta Thread - Discussion about the board, not the topics of self-sufficiency.

  • 🐕 I am attempting to get the site runnning as fast as possible. If you are experiencing slow page load times, please report it.
Im helpin a buddy of mine with some yardwork because my truck is bigger. He owns a couple properties and was planning to sub-divide one. City has told him he needs to remove some invasive plants.

It's incredibly interesting to learn and what aren't invasive species depending on the region. Where I am, the majority of blackberry and ivy are considered invasive. And they grow so easily too. It's crazy.

And yet there is nothing special about them and they aren't actually better than the other plants, they just tend to misbehave and under local conditions breed out of control

Out of curiosity has there been any whining and bitching from the usual suspects/Trannisaries so far about the creation of the new self-sufficiency board? I can just imagine them trying to smear the existence of the board as evidence of the forum preparing for violence/"trans genocide"

No. One fat retarded prostitute complained but that's it.

Can the dental, medicine stash, and first aid threads be combined? I would like to post resources about staying healthy in the boog including ob/gyn info and it seems to make more sense to have it in one place.

also if this board is going to have a dating thread anywhere it should be here

I would whole heartedly recommend this book. Not only is it easy to understand for anyone, even if you don't read English. Great coffee table book as well.

Every survivalists need to know about the 10 C's of survival and the uses for each (each item should have at least 3 use cases). Read on further here.

And Dave Canterbury's YouTube channel is also a great source.

Remember the you can read as many books there is from Lewis and Clark to Morris Kephart. If you don't go out in to the woods and get "dirt time" as they call it, you do not own that skill yet. You will fail many times, flint and steel fires took me months to do it reliably. Don't give up. Survivalism and bush rafting is a very rewarding hobby!

Edit: trying to get a pic in the correct spot.

Frens, can you recommend a dehydrator (preferably under $100). I will be using it to dehydrate peppers, herbs, and greens.

So all the electric threads I've seen seem to be very focused on AC home wiring. Is there/should there be one focused more on smaller DC circuits and schematics? Things like radio building and repair or even audio circuitry in general.

To be fair..We went to AC for very good reasons . It is way safer to convert to AC at the batterys bank.

I came here to see if this was proposed. It seems like the medical prepping threads are overlapping, and low enough traffic to do better as one thread.

My chud internet rabbit hole began with /out/ and since that board is basically on life support so I am grateful for an actual forum section on /sig/

Not to go SV Seeker mode, but it would be cool to see sailing/maritime skill threads start up here

@Null

tl;dr- I think more organization to the self-sufficiency threads would be beneficial. I'm thinking about topic structures/layers.

I'm the biggest fan of the self-sufficiency threads.
However, some topics are redundant or too closely related, while others require a higher degree of granularity.
My opinion: A layered organizational structure to the survival info-

example
Level 1 based on immediate basic needs: Air, Water, Shelter, Food, Safety (self-defense) and related topics (e.g. UrbEx would be relevant to finding immediate shelter), simple emergency medical...
Level 2 follows after basic needs are satisfied - immediate continuance: Foraging, hunting, hand tools, Simple emergency surgery, basic psych needs, cooking, weather prep, etc.
Level 3 is when you have a central location, and require camp/compound development: Camp discipline, simple farming, simple metalwork, food storage/curing, woodworking, lumber, basic framing, basic chemistry.
and so on

alternatively
use the history of human technological development as a template.
Level 1 (immediate animal/survival needs)
Level 2 being Neolithic technologies (pre farming)
Level 3 focusing on Bronze Age
Level 4 = Medieval
Level 5 being 'modern' - broken into century and tech focus

If you want to create a sort of directory for the board, that's fine, but it would hinder casual access to the board to stratify content in the way you're suggesting.

Ok. I agree. Nobody needs to try to remember if growing Echinacea started in the Bronze age, or Iron age.
I still believe that we need a higher degree of organization.

DM me on what you need done. I'd be happy to help.

I mean, you had a whole suggestion for categorizing topics by depth and topic. Did you not want adirectory?
