Severe Weather outbreaks

  • 🐕 I am attempting to get the site runnning as fast as possible. If you are experiencing slow page load times, please report it.
And I was just wondering when the snow was supposed to move in. Hope all of the Kiwis in the affected areas are prepared and stay safe, looks like plenty of ice is to be expected.
What is really bad is its apparently going to open with an Icestorm across much of the area. Which means widespread power failures in advance of a foot of snow being dumped. The thunder storm front to the south of the Clipper will also probably do merry hell to the power grid as well. I expect many parts of the effected areas could see no power for 2 weeks. Not only will the lines be taken out by fallen trees, the utility trucks won't be able to access the damage. Even if the roads get plowed, there is no guarantee the damaged part of the line will be accessible.

Cannot stress enough if you are under even a storm watch you better have a case of water, non-perishable food, and a back up heat source. My favorite thing to have is a Kerosene heater incidentally. Way more efficient then propane, burns longer, and is in general safer to have inside the house. Plus it can double as a stove top.

Blizzard warning issued for Northeast Kansas. Half an Inch of ice will fall around midnight, transitioning to Snow by 3 AM with over a foot of accumulation. Temperatures forecasted to be 0 degrees freedom (That is -18 Commie), with a wind chill of -15 freedom units. If you go outside for any length of time without adequate protection you will die. That said, they may even get to experience thunder snow. Remember to film it in landscape on your phones too! Thunder Snow is cool and deserves to be recorded in full glory, not on brain rot tik tok profile mode.

The snow wouldn't be a big deal for most of the Midwest. A foot would be a lot, but nothing that unusual. The ice is going to fuck shit up if your on the southern part of the storms. Saw up to an inch of ice accumulation predicted in some areas in KY or TN.

If your on that southern edge, get all your shit charged, and get your blankets ready. Half an inch plus of ice will be taking down power lines by itself and trees. The good news is if the power goes down, you can keep your food plenty cool by throwing it outside.

I fucking told people after Helene that the next big thing will be an unprecedented snow storm... though I didn't expect it so soon. Gotta get my propane heater working. My power goes out at even the slightest breeze.

National Weather service is updating the map. Blizzard Warnings now extend across Missouri from Saint Joseph to Macon.

Also, damn look at that alert map. Looking like the storm track has jogged to the south, because God really has it in for western North Carolina it seems.

I'm also watching the Bermuda High, Its starting to act froggy. If that High Pressure moves in closer to the Mid Atlantic, it could cause this bitch to bomb out. Which isn't in the forecast models yet.

Possible severe weather outbreak in the gulf states too, similar to last week.

Reactions: Gravemind
Do they chase Blizzards though? I feel like Blizzards are kinda hard to chase for obvious reasons.
Nah, and as far as any severe thunderstorms, Dixie Alley can be a lot more dangerous to chase because of terrain and forrested area, plus any supercells trend towards high precipitation and rain wrapped tornadoes
