I feel a little bit bad for Shia LeBeouf because I kinda wanna like the dude, even though he's apparently kind of an asshole. He lost a lot of good will because he apparently was plagiarizing artwork or putting his name on it and taking credit for it when it wasnt his, or taking more credit than was deserved in his collaborative works or something. He reminds me of someone like Lindsay Lohan where she's just got issues and people shit on her but she's not really any more shitty of a person than your average everyday dude.
I think I understand his "he will not divide us" thing. It's kind of like Lady Gaga's "Love TRUMPs hate" thing. It's more about, we're all humans, we're all American, just because your kid voted for Hillary and you voted for Trump it doesnt mean you have to disown them. You can, but it's still a shitty thing to do regardless of how strong your political beliefs are. It's not the end of the world that Trump is president, you dont have to riot, because if you do, you're just going to add to the problems. It's just a generic anti-violence, love each other, hippie protest piece.
For a while right after Trump was elected, there actually were people getting killed over it. Like those 4 black people who kidnapped the mentally challenged dude and tortured him, calling him a Trump voter and beating him. And for a while after Trump was elected, the left was pretty shattered, they were all about blame and shame, "Who cost us the victory?! YOU didnt vote, YOU ruined America, get out!" They wore safety pins on their shirts to signal that they were a TRUE supporter and one of the good ones, not like those filthy Bernie Bros. Most of that type of thing has chilled out now, people still protest but, like with Brexit, people realized it wasnt actually the end of the world, a civil war didnt break out. Shit's bad but it could be worse.
We're always going to be divided, each person is unique and I dont mean that in a "special snowflake" way, but no two people are going to agree on everything. Even people in the Democratic and Republican parties are divided on issues, but you dont have to treat each other like shit because of it. You can be divided but still come together as a community or as a nation, if you cant do then you're truly divided, your differences are irreconcilable and your relationship, your nation, whatever, has a serious problem.
