He really fancies himself an artist. This is what happens with child actors, they go insane. So many other child actors have lost their minds when they became adults, only a slim few make it out unscathed.

Edit: Jaimas beat me to it

A lot of child actors are also exposed to disgusting abuse from protected elites. I hope that's not the case with this guy. I just hope he was always this way.

I feel exceptionally exceptional posting this question, but what does "he will not divide us" even mean?

Because it's the most untrue of untrue things. Of course he will divide us. He's a divisive character. That's what divisive means. Probably every president ever elected was divisive because it's a two-party system, so when your guy wins, my guy loses and THAT MAKE ME MAD. But Donald Trump is the weirdest guy ever to win the office, and around half the country voted for him, so ultra mega super divisive.

Even in the hippie pussy-hat world of Shia LeBeouf, I don't get what it means. He won't divide lefties from other lefties? Of course not -- nothing like being out of power to bring your side together. But divide lefties from righties...um, yes.

My guess is that he wanted to go with a "He's Not My President" theme but realized it was an old meme and decided to add some vaguely philosophical hippie gasbag rhetoric to the mix in the hopes of it becoming the new rallying cry of the SJWs.

Think of it this way. Before meeting /pol/ Shia was a Hollywood elitist liberal.

Now, he's crouching in the sticks in a flyover state, armed, guarding a worthless piece of property and yelling "get off my land" at anyone who approaches.

They've turned him into a xenophobic redneck!
Hell, they turned him into the freaking Unabomber.

I wonder if the fact that the Transformers movies have been so widely mocked, and to some extent Indiana Jones and the Crystal Skull as well, that it caused him to snap and try to "reinvent" himself as some political crusader.

This is why I would love to be rich, but never want to be famous.

You forgot to mention "the other Corey", Corey Haim, the one who died broke at 38, living in a house shared with his mother, addicted to all kinds of drugs. He would later tell a story about the time they were shooting "Lucas" when Haim was only 14. He said an unnamed Hollywood big shot would get him alone to molest him, convincing him to do all sorts of horrendous things because "all kids in Hollywood do this to make it in the biz."

Forgive the tangent. The fate of the Coreys always made me very sad, I'm the right sort of age to care. And yes, none of this is much of a secret.

Feldman has in the past more-or-less confirmed that the individual who abused Haim on set was Charlie Sheen. If that accusation is true, then it's extra eyebrow-raising as I am pretty sure the son of Martin fuckin' Sheen didn't have to do 'things' to get on in the business.

Thora Birch's career has been crippled by the controlling antics of her father who insists on being present with her at all times. This is because - this is barely even a secret - he has been molesting her since childhood.

There are stories of this shit everywhere. It's incredibly sad. I also struggled to believe that in the year Corey Haim died, the Academy 'forgot' about him in the annual death montage at the Oscars. I know he and Feldman were/are junkies with mental health problems, but I don't believe they woke up like that one morning.

I feel a little bit bad for Shia LeBeouf because I kinda wanna like the dude, even though he's apparently kind of an asshole. He lost a lot of good will because he apparently was plagiarizing artwork or putting his name on it and taking credit for it when it wasnt his, or taking more credit than was deserved in his collaborative works or something. He reminds me of someone like Lindsay Lohan where she's just got issues and people shit on her but she's not really any more shitty of a person than your average everyday dude.

I think I understand his "he will not divide us" thing. It's kind of like Lady Gaga's "Love TRUMPs hate" thing. It's more about, we're all humans, we're all American, just because your kid voted for Hillary and you voted for Trump it doesnt mean you have to disown them. You can, but it's still a shitty thing to do regardless of how strong your political beliefs are. It's not the end of the world that Trump is president, you dont have to riot, because if you do, you're just going to add to the problems. It's just a generic anti-violence, love each other, hippie protest piece.

For a while right after Trump was elected, there actually were people getting killed over it. Like those 4 black people who kidnapped the mentally challenged dude and tortured him, calling him a Trump voter and beating him. And for a while after Trump was elected, the left was pretty shattered, they were all about blame and shame, "Who cost us the victory?! YOU didnt vote, YOU ruined America, get out!" They wore safety pins on their shirts to signal that they were a TRUE supporter and one of the good ones, not like those filthy Bernie Bros. Most of that type of thing has chilled out now, people still protest but, like with Brexit, people realized it wasnt actually the end of the world, a civil war didnt break out. Shit's bad but it could be worse.

We're always going to be divided, each person is unique and I dont mean that in a "special snowflake" way, but no two people are going to agree on everything. Even people in the Democratic and Republican parties are divided on issues, but you dont have to treat each other like shit because of it. You can be divided but still come together as a community or as a nation, if you cant do then you're truly divided, your differences are irreconcilable and your relationship, your nation, whatever, has a serious problem.

What's ironic is that the opposite is far more common. You cannot support trump publicly. Where I'm at my landlord is super gay, day 1 Introduces me to his boyfriend, and all in thinking is "the only thing in the closet here is my trump hat".

Sure, I get that. And part of that is because Trump is so divisive. Part of the reason the right has so much power now is because of how divided people had been to where people who supported Trump felt oppressed. I think that's why Shia has his little "He will not divide us" project.

I'm fairly middle of the road, but now everybody is a nazi just for having opinions, which does nobody any favors, and just gives them more ammo.

On the plagiarism thing, people probably would have backed off...had his apology also not quickly been proven to be completely plagiarized as well.

Blame the media. They sensationalize everything to the point that people take it as serious business. No one fact checks or does any research on anything because people want quick and immediate answers to confirm their bias due to news sources trying to cater to certain sides.
