He said it is RNG due to something called "delta time". Which relates somehow to the game's engine? Given how many frame perfect tricks he performs (and this is one he doesn't seem to criticize himself for missing) I am more inclined to believe him.

I don't know if "delta time" is some kind of speedrun lingo but it doesn't look like a documented part of the game's engine. Not saying there isn't some chance-based bullshit to the trick, but his exact reasoning could still be a cope?

AFAIK “delta time” probably refers to the amount of time between frames, since it’s a necessary thing to keep track of for games. If a character moves at x pixels a frame, if the game lags, then they move slower. The delta time can be used to accommodate for lag so things work at a consistent rate.

dude im genuinely curious to know why you decided to make an account here just to post this.
SHiFT has attracted at least 5 new accounts who to this thread. who make a few posts before leaving.
been lurking for a few years since i was bored when i had covid before this thread and lurking here since it was made because shift was a personal lolcow of mine prior and i just figured it was time to make an account. probably will post more in the future since this isn't the only lolcow im interested in

Ya boy lost 11 seconds ahead to the new Swamp Cage Clip, and then he mentally folded after failing the Graveyard UCB four times in a row.

Smashed his desk so hard it started lagging at the end lol. He's been rage-practicing all the harder tricks for over 2 hours now after the fail.

The funny thing to me about him is that what he's doing is genuinely impressive and to some level he does kind of deserve the respect that he always cries about not getting. The dedication he has is admirable if you've ever cared for high-level gameplay yourself, even with the demonic rage moments.
Thing is that he chose fucking Spongebob. I get that the game has intricacies to it but it's still Spongebob. It's like being a gold medalist but being forced to wear a dunce cap for your whole career.

To me, "delta time" sounds like the Karma gaming engine that Tommy said was in the Amico. It sounds like some shit he made up to convince people he knows what he's talking about.

I think it's fine to like Spunch bob given the fascinating speedrun tech and it being in the top 3 collect-a-thons. But yeah; he rages way too hard over it.

Even Spongebob movie runners have more fun with their game. And even young bfbb runners enjoy their runs.

speed running in general is a Sisyphean task that very few people have the patience for, you are completing the exact same run in the exact same way where you have little real control over the outcome of the run, failing means undoing the last X minutes of your life, repeat for 20k hours.
combine this with SHiFT already having anger issues as seen in his subathons where he is under no real speedrun pressure and well you get an op.

Goose is basically a troll who played the worst game where you spend almost all your time looking at the floor. It’s also way more optimized than it needs to be. You can pick any game, learn some strats, and get better at memorization and hand-eye coordination. It actually makes you sharper mentally and teaches you useful skills like paying attention to detail, lateral thinking, long-term planning. Routing from nothing to a full speedrun is hard, but not that hard.

Shift is totally different from the average speedrunner. Streamers switch things up a lot when it gets stale. He’s obsessed with a bad game and admitted he did everything he could to milk it. Most speedrunners if you check speedrun.com are kids messing around with shit like minecraft, and most of them probably spend less than 20 hours on a single category.

The biggest enemy in speedrunning is optimization, which is why a lot of old runners quit or stopped chasing wrs. It’s also super personalized. Any game can be speedrun, so trans people etc can find their own safe space to compete against themselves. Which is why you find it weird or degenerate or whatever.

TL;DR: Shift made a mess he has to live in because he’s unique, but that doesn’t mean the hobby itself is bad.

SHiFT must be the best fiction writer ever, because the "fake-narrative" the trolls makes is written by his own actions.

for people that may not know, previously he would play sunshine but to prove his undying love to spongebob he deleted his times from sunshine and the majority of the videos

Whenever SHiFT talks, he's either depressed sounding or ranting about a troll in his chat. Otherwise, it's silence with his footpetal or him screaming.

WTF happened to this run? I blinked mate and ya fucked it!

I've never heard of this guy before, but I'm loving the idea of this depressed fully-grown adult man playing a spongebob game for 10+ hours a day, everyday.
