💼 Careercow SHiFT / @shiftposting - Angriest speedrunner on earth. 20,000 hours spent playing one SpongeBob game. Frequently rages until his voice gets blown out.

LMFAO. I wonder why Shift didn’t like that comment? But sure, he’s a role model. If this guy is your role model in life, it’s already over for you. Speedrunners are the most autistic community by far LOL.
This clip will always remain evergreen for all speedtrannies, i feel it explains SHiFT mindset very well.

A Farewell to Bikini Bottom

A Star is Born — a New Era in Battle for Bikini Bottom Speedrunning

Maybe I sound schizo here but does anybody else notice that Star talks in the same exact cadence as Shift? I watched some of his world record and it felt like I was listening to a pitched-up Shift talking. Kinda weird.
I noticed this as well. It's hilarious to no end that the next BfBB runner has exactly the same affect as Shift.

In his video congratulating Star on the world record, Shift claims Star has been running BfBB since he was 12 years old. I admit, when speedrunning became big in the 2010s, it did not occur to me that some children would inevitably end up huffing it all their lives. Shift also makes some bizarre statements regarding "detractors," Star among them, who were lured by adults into BfBB speedrunning while underage. Why Shift would bother including this information in such a historic video is an exercise left for the reader. The video itself is endlessly circular and self-congratulatory despite the fact that Shift is no longer the recordholder, and all he did in the first place was play SpongeBob quickly. One would think he made a scientific breakthrough in protein folding or something.

Spongegrooming is a real and very insidious problem. One day, you’re a kid browsing YouTube and watching clips of your favorite SpongeBob game. The next, you’ve sunk 20k hours into trying to use the heat-seeking bubble missile to clip through the walls of the kelp forest .4 seconds faster than you did an hour ago. It’s scary stuff.

The best "normal" speedrunner ever was one my dad watched a lot. Cordellium.

He actually came back lol. He speedruns various JRPGs while he does studies, and some runs he'd be walking on a treadmill while he did it. Crazy work. Proof that you can make it a cooler hobby too.

Never rages, always chill and just someone to put on in the background if you have a second monitor lol. He doesn't get WRs a lot but he's pretty good at the games. Definitely acquired taste though given you're speedrunning a 17 so hour JRPG.

He's a 17 year old, he's still developing a personality of his own, and I'm sure he looks up to Shift in some way. I wouldn't be surprised if he mimics some of his personality/speaking/vibe off of Shift, because he's still learning. He's just really young, this is normal for people that age, you just usually don't see who people's primary mentors/influences are.

Shift wasted 10 years of his life procrastinating for getting a WR time in a game that's not that big known as Super Mario 64, Goldeneye 64, Perfect Dark or any relevant game from the PS2 & Xbox out there.
Stop pretending that speedrunning is a real career choice. As a vehicle for entertainment, sure, but on its own it should never be considered anything other than a hobby.

A lot of people have completely, or almost completely useless jobs full of busy work. Speedrunning definitely falls into that category, but all the same it puts food on the table for a small minority of people.

I understand it's not the most noble line of work, but it's fairly innocuous. It's merely useless compared to many "real" jobs where people get paid handsomely to be a net-negative on society. Money decides what a job is, not morality or value to the community, and if some morons want to burn money watching a man beat a video game very fast, well that's a job.

Not how it ought to be, but it is what it is.

I mean who could have guessed that a group that congregates on Discord and includes Brazilian trannies on bathtub estrogen would include groomers and troomers. I'm shocked! Shocked I tell you! Well maybe not that shocked. This is also not new to BFBB or speedrunning at large to attract the same mentally ill types because years ago another runner who went by "iSyn" got arrested in Texas for sexting a minor some time around 2019. His arrest record was public and I thought I had saved it somewhere but can't immediately find it and would have to go looking through my backups.

Let me make it clear. I stated a career but for Star continuing & pursuing with his IRL like with studies, having a career and all that good stuff to grown as a better & normal person.

In Shift case it's a never-ending loop where he doesn't have life or value for wasting 10 years playing a fucking literal who's game.

But one thing can't be denied: Becoming a speedrunner on retro, next gen games it sure does a living and from the 9 years I witnessed some streamers to always keep a consistent or even higher viewerbase by playing franchise games or specific memorable games that up to this day still holds a strong viewership.

So it's a living choice for anyone who would like to make streaming as his or her main work. But you're very naive to think it's only a hobby lol. videogames have evolved to a point where on various categories can be considered competitive or changeling for the average gamer joe.

If you're that fixated to believe speedrunning it's for entertaiment only from the viewer standpoint then you're right. But from the streamer content creator it's a $$$ effort. point blank and fucking period bucko.

It would be like if sisyphus's Boulder actually contain the petrified remains of his wife and he somehow believed pushing it up hill would free her
I just don’t get how and why people take something as casual and fun as a SpongeBob game so seriously. Sucking all the fun out and raging for a decade straight is something I can’t even begin to relate to.
