Shit that reminds you that you’re getting old - Re: Fwd: Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: Fwd: Damn young’uns

Another thing that makes me feel old.

In my 20s when I first saw Clerks, I just thought it was cool.

Now at my age I'm like "wow, look at those cigarette prices in the 90s."

I'm also at that age where I actually relate to Clerks 2, and sooner than I would like I'll understand Clerks 3.

I generally disapprove of "sin taxes," viewing them as an unwarranted attempt by the government to control human behavior while simultaneously being a regressive tax that disproportionately targets poor people with vices like cigarette smoking and alcoholism, punishing them for not being virtuous.

That said, I kind of like seeing the insane prices of cigarettes when I go into a convenience store. Wow, I don't have to mortgage something just to buy a pack of smokes. I'm glad I quit this shit a couple decades ago.

At this point it's so pricey that people may as well just grow their own tobacco.

Remember when the Sega Saturn or the Phyllis CD-i were the most expensive video game consoles on the market? Neither do I. I recall the PlayStation 3 being expensive at the time at $499-$599.

Man, that's nothing. The NEO GEO was like $600-$700 in the late '90s, and every game was $150+.

Probably wildly different than what most people have posted here, but every game I look at nowadays just comes off as juvenile, I feel like I've outgrown gaming (which sucks, it's been my main hobby my whole life, a lot of money was put into this shit over the years)
That's been on my mind the past day. All entertainment nowadays is either juvenile, babified in the sense it holds your hand gthe entire way through, or is pozzed.

I remember when N64 came out in the 90s and it was super expensive, and since my family was poor as fuck, some old man who was a family friend bought one for us.

That's one of the first times I saw how expensive a game console was.

Yeah, my personal favorite was Legends of the Hidden Temple.

Double Dare, though.

Couldn't afford it. It was a full paycheck back then and the games were even more expensive than they are now. One cartrige was like 100USD.

I have no idea how my mom bought us the games back then. Hell, she probably used her tip money for them, since I don't even remember the games costing that much in that time.

It's kind of funny looking back at the games from that time.

I love that this was considered great quality video game designing back in the day, compared to games now.

I'm about to say something super old.

I remember when gas was a dollar.
I've got you beat.
I remember it being UNDER a dollar.

I remember cigarettes being 55 cents a pack. I don't smoke anymore, so I was shocked to see Marlboro Reds are now $13 a pack. Who can afford that now?

Having to explain to a younger acquaintance who Laci and Scott Peterson were. She was only 10 when the crime happened, but had no clue who they were.

That was my reaction when someone replied to me on here that they didn't know who OJ was.

Shit, man. I remember actually seeing the verdict for the famous trial because my teacher (and pretty much all of them in my school) put it on the television in my class.

I also remember seeing Columbine in my class as well. You definitely can tell how young someone is if they don't remember 9/11.
