Shit that reminds you that you’re getting old - Re: Fwd: Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: Fwd: Damn young’uns

I was one of those annoying early adopters to that craze. I had a Japanese import SONY (before Sony Erricson) phone and it could record audio clips for the ringtone, and had a 20 second clip of the Rage Against The Machine Bulls On Parade riff as my ringtone... In 1999!!! I used to think I was so cool.

Now my phone has been on silent constantly since about 2005. Don't even know what the ringtone is.
Were musical ringtones just a fad? Seems like everyone just uses the default ones these days.

Come to think of it, I can't remember what my ringtone is right now. All I know is that I set it to whatever was simple and slightly obnoxious.

My aunt lets my 8 year old cousin watch friends with her 11 yr old twin sisters. I question this sometimes.
Man, I can remember disliking the majority of live action sitcoms with the exception of Malcolm in the Middle in the 90's and early 2000's. Which reminds me how different it was back then for most television series undersold when they were released on DVD for their season box sets. To this day I'm still sour because there hasn't been a release of the whole series as a box set or released in their original quality for digital download.

I feel old knowing that there's some kid graduating college soon that only knows my evil scandinavian black metal as that thing his/her dad listens to. It's lame dad rock now.

Quoting myself to post this:

I reminisce more than i should and complain about my neighbors being 1 decibel too loud.

Those stickers on the gas station counters that say you cant buy tobacco if you were born after such and such date

Also reading an article about Greta chan saying she was born in 2003, I can remember a time before her birth and that never stops being weird

So the good ol days before the fetal alcohol uprising?

Where to begin? I'm 37 and it feels like the world changed over night. I could really start feeling it around 2012. It doesn't feel like I'm living in modern America anymore. Pop culture isn't fun anymore. Yes, I thought pop culture, warts and all, was a lot more fun in the 80s, 90s, and 2000s. Now? Now everything is controversial or offensive everywhere you turn. There's too much outrage. Also, some things just feel bland and homogenized. "No Fun Allowed" seems like the rule of thumb these days.

I like to think that I know how older people feel now. I feel like Abe Simpson. "It" is weird and scary to me. Some of it is. A lot of what zoomers and younger millennials like either pisses me off or makes me roll my eyes. Stuff I loved and appreciated is either gone or changed in ways I don't like. The message from the current year liberal-left seems to be that change for its own sake is good. Even if the said changes are either pointless, bad, or stupid. I hate that.

One last bit of sperging: I'm cool with technological change, but sometimes digital-only feels cold and distant. Also, I HATE SOCIAL MEDIA! I'll take my austistic ratings for refusing to use any type of social media. E-mail is enough.

That's my 2 cents.

That my car, which would be considered an old piece of shit by any standards, didn't exist yet when I first started driving.
