Shit that reminds you that you’re getting old - Re: Fwd: Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: Fwd: Damn young’uns

I'm seeing the start of an attempted reinvention of the 90s as a mini version of a parody 50s where it supposedly was a conservative hellscape with lynched gays hanging from the streetposts and women chained in kitchens.
Compared to the open-air insane asylum that is Clown World "society", those relatively "normal" '90s could be seen by soys in Current Year as a "conservative hellscape" of "wrongthink" "homophobia", "racism", and "sexism" -- sanity can look very insane to the insane.

another narrative they are trying to push that today is somehow the most conservative time in US history
When it is convenient for SJWs, they like to pretend now is still like the 1950s, in how so-called "marginalized groups" are treated.

Extremely disturbing is that those who spent their early childhood struggling during the great recession have become adults now.
thought you were talking about 1930s kids for a moment there

The entire vehicle is one bad software update away from being a huge, expensive, absolutely useless brick.

“If you want a vision of the future, imagine a DEI hire Pajeet shitting out buggy software without which your cars, house appliances and tools cannot function--forever.”

I've been having knee troubles on one side the last few weeks, and unlike past times, it just hasn't... gone away.

I'm a seriously committed weightlifter, and because of my age (turn 35 soon) it occurred to me that this just might be the time shit starts failing when it comes to high performance. Like, I might never FULLY recover from whatever is ailing me. After all, 35 is ANCIENT in terms of weightlifting already.

Gonna be diligent with rehab/taking it easy, but I'm considering a very real possibility that my heavy squatting days might be over.

Sadge.
I'm so old that when the whole Joe Rogan on Spotify tantrum happened and I decided to listen to a Rogan podcast to see what the fuss was about, I chose the episode with Ben Patrick, the KneesOverToes guy. He's a physio who specialises in knee exercises and some of them are really effective. It was interesting enough that I found his youtube channel and added some of the exercises to my routines. And they have really improved my knees. (The guy's a apparently a scientologist, and kind of weird in other ways but just don't give him any money.)

I'm more than a decade older than you and my knees had been increasingly causing me issues in my early 40s, as I also do a sport which requires healthy knees but regularly causes knee issues. My knees are really good now, better than they've ever been.

Don't "retro"-style games usually somehow have current system requirements?
Only one's that put alot more into the finer details to make it look modern at the same time. Doom 2 still runs on a pregnancy test if you really want it to, but nowadays they have things like real time ray tracing that can do thing's we never thought of before.. Making soft lighting happen to extend the ambience is what really makes that demanding.

I was building a model kit and realized partway through I was straining my eyes reading the part numbers and seeing what orientation the kit wants for the small parts. While I was able to fix this by getting one of those lights with a magnifying glass attached, buying it was the point I had to admit I'm getting old.

Same with me and doing any needlework, along with good reading glasses.

It's a meeeeeeem, you dip

I think there was an older version that had Halo in the ancient gamer
You can not possibly tell me kids don't play League of Legends anymore, I swear every top laner I've had in the past year must've been in first grade, even if they were on their second attempt

Don't take those things seriously, the whole joke is that people on /v/ are intentionally making this meme with newer and newer games and other sites have caught on. Initially (I think way back in 2012, the OG had Skyrim) there were some legit ones from normalfag facebook gaming groups, so people started making more and more outlandish ones as ragebait. I sincerely doubt they've gone around and become unironic yet.

Can you imagine growing up with favorite childhood entertainment involving online streaming vids by Current Year "influencers"? 🤔
Oh yeah, and there's already adults who consider early YT videos (from the late '00s) to be part of childhood.

Neopets. Null is 31 and mentioned in the last MATI that when he was 9 his mom had to help him sign up for it, and that he played it even before Runescape. Similar situation here just not as old. Neopets was pretty much the first online game I started playing and I remember waking up early with my dad and playing it every morning before grade school. I moved on to runescape that same year, but fuck man, feels like just yesterday.

They are. Every year I think, "League has passed the rubicon on children and teens joining the game" and every year I see video after video of "16 y/o reaches peak challenger LP on X server".

Every time I do some very simple physical movement, only to discover a new world of pain awaiting me. (I REALLY regret joking about my parents having arthritis when I was younger... LOL)

Probably don't even have the right to contribute to this thread, but seeing the PS2 be considered retro now makes me feel a certain kind of way

And yet never having opened a book. Being a literal retard. Being incapable of understanding the concept of knowledge that is on paper. Being an absolute shit human being. Who thinks people disagreeing with you is a crime. Being a goddamn retard. Being a zoomer.
Best way to offset that is to have a kid regularly read books, especially before allowing them to spend time on vidya.
Between all the reading I did in my childhood and all the flash games I played, I think that bolstered my understanding and handling of language considerably. But from some of the moments I've witnessed among peers, it would appear that kind of early-reading environment is lacking heavily.

Read to your kids as soon as they're born, every single day. Make up cute little stories to read to them. Buy them tons of books.

I can't even lay in bed without my knees acting up. HOW?

Make up cute little stories to read to them.
Tell me a story, please.

I've seen some of his work before, it's useful. Certainly less annoying than Squat University anyway, with his hard-on for wide toe box shoes and the McGill exercises.

In any case, the knee is doing better. I've only been doing pause squats outside of snatches and cleans, and the pain is the lowest it's been in months. I'll continue this routine for a few weeks and reassess.
