Shit that reminds you that you’re getting old - Re: Fwd: Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: Fwd: Damn young’uns

Hearing that Y2K fashion is back - what do you mean? I still have some of my OG clothes from that time, it surely was a few years ago.

Thinking J Lo's "waiting for tonight" didn't come out that long ago.

Never comprehending the "left and right vs good and bad knee" jokes until mine both decided to go on a strike and tell me to fuck off with the weighted squats. Or any squats for that matter.

Not leaving the house without a hat/hood in cool weather. And a warm jacket.

Scrolling too long to find my year of birth on the drop menu.

Checking what clothes are made of as opposed to how they look.

Worrying that my cds and dvds are going to delaminate and backing them up is so hard because my computer doesn't have a slot for them anymore.

Realising people don't become wiser with age. They just become old and stupid.

Vividly remembering communism socialism.

Did you get the trifecta: pain, restricted movement, nasty cracking sounds?
A little bit of all three yes. It's just enough to know I shouldn't push it so running is out if the window as well.

Oh and the one I'm embarrassed to admit - being happy when it rains because it gives me an excuse not to go out for the daily walk and watch shit TV instead.

I know friends who have been playing on the same PS4 since elementary school 💀💀💀💀
The last time I played on any console was nearly twenty years ago. I mean, I do play on my PC, but realising that it's been decades since you did pretty much anything is a mind fuck.

And then there was the Sinclair (I forget which kind but one of the ones with a shitty membrane keyboard).
Timex Sinclair? It's like an American ZX Spectrum.

I don't want to be a part of clown world
Same here. Going with the flow of being a Current Year leftist is demoralizing, and -- despite any BS attempted "gaslighting" by SJWs otherwise -- was not a thing before around 2012 to 2015. Also western Europe before the unchecked mass immigration seemed like a much better place, but there is likely "Zoomers" and "Generation Alpha" kids who grow up not knowing what it was like before Current Year.

You can still see some of that beauty but then even minor things have become dirty now. Rural areas used to be clean of graffiti outside of public toilet doors. Now you walk past minor buildings or parks and they look like urban dumpsters with all the spray paint on them. It's hideous and it never had to be this way.

mass immigration has completely changed life as we knew it. I don't think we can go back, but I don't know how you go forward when everything is so bleak.
How close are any of the European countries to implementing well-organized deportations and shooting illegal immigrants on sight?

The UK keeps trying to send illegals to Rwanda or some stupid shit but instead buys entire hotels and refurbishes them to keep these animals in. And they won't report the ones born there so it's all pointless theatrics.

You do become more knowledgeable, though, at least about the shit you haven't forgotten from impending senility.

You become knowledgeable enough to realize you wouldn't have fucked up your life as much as you did had you known what you do now.

I know an 80 year old dude who got both knees replaced about five years ago and builds brick walls for fun. These surgeries are INSANELY painful when you get them (and they usually only let you get them one at a time), but they're pretty good in terms of returning functionality.

I was never really a huge gamer or anything like that but I did play recreationally up through my mid 20s or so (so late 2000s) and honestly, maybe it's an age thing but I really don't get any enjoyment, nor have any interest in, gaming today. I stopped buying new games in like 2010ish, except 2k (I'm a huge basketball guy) which I brought out of habit more than anything each year until I eventually forgot to keep the tradition up about six or seven years ago and haven't bothered to get any new games since. Honestly video games now are something I do when theres absolutely nothing else to do, and something I get almost no joy out of, it's a pure time waster in every sense of the word for me.

That's cause the "civil servants" keep blocking it cause they're useless busybodies who occupy themselves with feeling good at the expense of the tax payer.

Tax: The stagnation of modern tech in gaming, it's better tech sure but I can't just put a disc in and play. Day one updates, day one dlc's, season passes being sold before the game is even out and that the size of these games are in the double digits approaching triple GB wise and it functions worse than a cd-rom that had a scratch on the bottom.

Nah, I'd still fuck it up in different ways. The older you get the more you realize this.

They're blocking it because it's their cousin we're trying to deport. The Government is occupied by foreigners.

Watching a history video and saw this in the comments.

Did the birth year math in my head and realized Gen Alpha is now old enough to post Youtube Comments, damn I feel old.

I often do intense or random shit for no reason because I dread last times.

Think of these retirees that need home assistance. One day they went out for groceries. At the time they didn't know it but it was the last time they ever would.

One day you will wake up and you won't know it at that moment but it will be the last time you slept in that bed.

Then you will make a coffee for the last time. Then you will feel a pain in your chest and phone 911 as you collapse.

The medics will take you to the ambulance. This will be the last time you ever were in your home. Maybe you'll be thinking "hopefully I'll be home tonight to finish my crosswords". But your crosswords will stay unfinished, next to a cup of cold coffee.

So I climb and vault over stuff when hiking like a Call of Duty bunnyhopper, because one day I'll wonder when was the last time I did.

And I suddenly sprint for no reason because one day these retirees ran as fast as their legs could carry them, just for the hell of it, like all kids do. And they never did again. And one day they ran fast, out of necessity this time, and they never did again. And one day they did a weak jog, maybe to catch a bus or something, and they never did again.

When I'm old and broken, which isn't infinitely far in the future, I want my last times not to be too far in the past. Imagine being lazy in your green years, and as dusk approaches you wish you were able to exert yourself... except you didn't when you still had the strength to do so.

Don't wait for an excuse or a need to do a physical feat you haven't done in years. One day you will sit down and never get up again.
