Shopping on Amazon Has Gone to Absolute Shit

  • 🐕 I am attempting to get the site runnning as fast as possible. If you are experiencing slow page load times, please report it.
I'm not saying restrict yourself to brick and mortar.
I know, that's why I bolded brick and mortar in my quote reply.

To clarify, I want to support brick and mortar when I can. However, sometimes they offer a bad experience. Another example. I tried to buy a DVD a little while ago. There are basically no physical media places left here, with the exception being second hand places like CEX that are mixed in what they have, and the quality is usually low. I went to HMV, but attempting to buy pretty much anything there gets them to tell you to buy from the website.

At this point, brick and mortar seems to be only good for groceries and clothing. I think this is why B&Ms is such a popular chain in my area. Their prices are cheap and they're the only place left that actually sells things.

I feel tho, it is really tiring reading reviews to see all these fake ones. But I feel like that's kinda the issue everywhere on the net. I'll be on target or something just for all the reviews to say they got a sample of it in exchange for review.

Anyway... I do like Amazon's convenience of autoshipping for things like toilet paper/napkin. I often forget to buy them when I'm in store. But other than that I do find some items kinda sus. I got hand soap the other day and it felt diluted.

I buy shit on Amazon regularly and I've never looked at a review. I know they are often paid for, I've been invited to do that.

The only things I look at on the page are price changes through the Keepa plugin.

Amazon is still good with shipping things quickly and cheap, and returning is very simple with no issues, so whatever.

And I get half off Prime for being an autistic retard.
With the review shit, it's why I submit reviews. It doesn't offset the fake reviews by much, but at least a real person, being me, did review it, so hopefully it can give a measure of trust.

Shopping on Amazon used to be an easy way to buy chinkshit at a pricepoint that wasn't Ebay-tier levels of scammy. Now the dropshitters will sell you things with fake pictures, fake reviews, and fake products. I bought a pair of brand-name headphones recently for around $1,400 and received a chinkshit knockoff. I called Amazon to dispute it to either get a refund or send them back, and I was told that I've sent too many items back and that they are not accepting refunds for this item. I've sent about 3 things back in the last 2 years... I asked the dumb indonesian bitch on the phone to look at the seller's product page, she said she doesn't have access to it. The fuck? I was very cordial and friendly with her, and I asked if they have the wrong account, or if they can confirm my transaction code to make sure they aren't looking at something incorrect on their end. She put me on hold. 15 minutes later she came back and confirmed that I cannot refund them. I then stated that if they will no longer accept returns or refunds on their items, that I won't be shopping on Amazon anymore. I cancelled my Prime subscription that I've had since like 2010.

Anyway, fuck it- it's cheaper and easier to just go to Best Buy at this point. Fuck Amazon. They prey on agreeable people. (Best Buy is fucking gay)

Don't buy Chinkshit unless it's so cheap that you don't care if it's trash. Just don't buy from 3rd party sellers, especially if their name is wingxingxongdingdongblahblahshabadoodoo.

I only buy from Amazon after looking at lists from deal sites and then on Keepa to check that I'm buying it at it's lowest price.

I guess if you go to Amazon with the purpose of you need and must buy this and this from your shopping list... it will suck then and you'll get gouged. There's obviously a lot of fuckery.

My parents were talking about this sort of thing a few years ago--a company is only good until it takes over, then goes to shit.

For example, Wal-Mart in the 1990s was better in pretty much every way than Kmart...Kmart was plagued out of stocks, Wal-Mart had it. Kmart had old, crappy stores, Wal-Mart's were more modern. Their products were generally better, and Wal-Mart had McDonald's and Daytona USA.

Then Kmart went bankrupt and their stores disappeared, and almost immediately Wal-Mart's selection and quality dropped off the cliff within a few years.

Same thing with Amazon.

I can’t tell if everyone in this thread is retarded or I’m just extremely lucky. I buy from Amazon all the time and I’ve never had an experience that comes close to any of these, nor has anyone I know who buys from Amazon. The worst thing that’s happened to me is that I bought a $40 USB-C dock that didn’t work, then I sent it back, got a refund, and bought a second one that did work.

I exclusively buy items that have Prime shipping and are sent directly by Amazon, so maybe that has something to do with it?

A lot of it really depends on what you're buying. You're most likely not going to get a counterfeit Nintendo Switch from Amazon, for example. That's not generally the case for a lot of cheaper items like clothing and small electronics.

Those shirts I mentioned in the OP were directly sold and shipped by Amazon and were either counterfit, or the type of irregular items you usually find in a discount department store, because the quality was noticeably lower than the same brand in brick and motor stores.

Amazon Basics - where from? They told all their top sellers they had to tell Amazon where they bought their shit for “sustainability” reasons. Supposedly so Amazon could know how much carbon they emit or whatever. In truth, Amazon just went straight to the vendors and arranged for Amazon Basics versions of the products. They undercut the original vendor and put them out of business. Amazon Basics is gay and I would not have sex with it.

The headphones where Prime? I never got denied a return, but like I said above I only buy "prime" stuff that can go via their locker system. I must be rolling with at least a 33% return rate.

I distinctly recall a story where a fairly reputable mattress review site had a good thing going for them, at least until one of the bigger manufacturers for one of the product they began to review started to hassle them. After a while, they bit the bullet, sold out, and was bought up by a "third" party that just so happened to slap excellent reviews for this said brand and others like it, and with the users of that site being none the wiser of the change of hands for said site. And ever since then, there really hasn't been any decent replacement.
Mattresses are uniquely bad because the margins are too high. You can't trust any review or personal anecdote on the internet. Its best to just buy one that looks good and return it if it sucks.
Same with amazon. Theres only going to be a few different items for what you are looking for, rebranded countless times. Just get the cheapest one and return it if it sucks.

Cheap chink shit(USB HDD Enclosures, HDMI Cables, Sata cables, etc) - Aliexpress/Temu
Actual good electronics(Laptops, storage, games, phones, etc) - Best Buy/Staples/Newegg/Costco
Food- Costco
Everything Else- Wal Mart

I'm in Canada, your mileage may vary.
Every time I go to Costco (no membership) I don't buy food because it's too much for a single person. My friend who took me has five kids and two refrigerators, so it makes more sense for him. The pizza is good, but the local supermarket makes a tasty and inexpensive New York-style supreme...and it (like many others) is a decent supermarket--produce in relatively good shape, deli meats and cheeses sliced to order, meat and seafood prepared in-store, bakery.

It doesn't have everything but I can shop around.

I only really use Amazon for stuff like new games and certain things you can get so easy locally. Often I find that even with prime Amazon does a really poor job of shipping, I bought a pack of drinks and it arrived through USPS in a bin because half of the pack fucking exploded and the box was partially dissolved. Later I find the DVD I ordered was also in the fucking box and was damaged pretty bad.
