It is somewhat funny of a stance, terribly ironic, but I don't have faith in him so much the power of desperation has on people. There is nothing so moving as being without something. It'll kick people into action. If a man is hungry enough for something he will do anything to get it. Hunger doesn't mean, necessarily, for food. He lost his hoarded junk and had a prime chance to buckle underneath of the pressure or rise above it. Irrelevant since folks will pay his lot in life.

The donation isn't going to "pay his lot in life." It's less than $1K, half of it basic supplies, and it'll run out quickly. It's a one time deal.

I don't really how it has to do with the discussion. It's a topic which has more evolved to; 'Should Chris receive charity?' more so than the singular forum donation.

Then why are you even bringing it up? Other than the singular forum donation, he doesn't get charity, and no one is proposing that he does.

I guess leave the thread if you don't want to discuss him receiving charity then

Don't know what to tell you otherwise

Exactly. Even if he went to a thrift store with $1,000 cash, he'd be pushing it to be able to buy everything he needs to set up a new home.

Also since I got caught up in sperging about whether he'd shoplift or not, I think he does deserve donations, but only to a point. Food, soap, clean clothes... anyone deserves that in their time of need. As for having a new life handed to him on a plate, no way. Give them what they need to not perish on the streets, and then let them sort it out from there. If they don't make the effort, that's on them.

It's not like Chris is penniless. If he was it would be by his own volition and unwilling nature to do things for himself. If that is what he wants in his life (to be without basic necessities that his :tugboat: should provide), I guess that's his own punishment.

mods, can we take this topic out back and shoot it? the deed has been done and it's more than a little exhausting to see the same two or three people popping up to sperg about it
