Show off your Foobar2000 setup.

Here is mine. I've always been a fan of 2000s analog looking software and icons.

It's based on an old theme I found called Pandora Box EX, which the creator has stopped supporting since. I've updated the components so it keeps working, added coverflow, edited the panel scripts heavily so it still looks good when resized, and am now in the process of editing the aesthetics to be more like a wood paneled dashboard. Everything is connected to keyboard hotkeys as well, so I don't need to fiddle with the analog controls unless I really want to.

Classic Winamp skins were actually my inspiration to start modding Foobar! I tried just using Winamp a few years ago but it kept getting corrupted, and I'm a zoomer so I never got experience it back when it was big, so I just decided to make Foobar look like this with that Pandora theme and just kept going. I'm hoping others on the farms have done something like this that I can take inspiration from.

You have too much time on your hands.
Yes, at some point I just got bored with video games and started spending it on little programming projects instead, this was just one of them lol

I'm more of an Audacious kinda guy these days, but as far as skins go - good ol' Winamp, nothing beats Winamp. I sure am glad Audacious still supports old Winamp skins.

Kind of a shame they never made a non-ASCII version of their bitmap font though - smooth fonts just don't look right with that skin.

Maybe you already know this, but saw you were a Zoomer so in case your aesthetic memories are limited to Post-Obama Globohomo Flat Design, the style preceding that was called "Skeuomorphism", where logo and UIs mimicked real-world buttons, switches, and textures.

It's extra sad when you think about how cool some of it looked back in the pre-HD days, and that now every device can pump out shaded 3D 4K ray tracing...to draw flat grey lines instead of hyper-detailed wood grain, brushed metal, etc.

Nothing beats the classic theme, but since I'm old I prefer the larger text area of the "modern" ones.

Very cool, I'm a sucker for any software that allows you to customize its looks. I used foobar as a kid because I heard how customizable it was but switched to linux before I did any customizations on it. Nowadays I just go full minimal and use a terminal player.

Absolutely. It's enshittification applied to graphical design.
For example, here are some of the Windows 98 icons:

They all have one thing in common - they were all limited to 256 colors. And yet, every single one of them looks distinct, recognizable, and resembles real world objects in spite of this limitation.
Now? We got millions of colors and nothing to show for it!

I played Battlefield 3 on Ultra settings and then I looked at Battlefield 2042 and realized that there are absolute zero reasons to get any new GAYming™ equipment when the quality of vidya has not only gone down in player experience, but in "technical" quality too (relative to available hardware). What is the point of 4K, ray tracing if game devs can even optimize and match textures. Retards are just slapping on wrong materials (metal and water...) everywhere. These niggers can't even make sand look like "vidya sand" or even have grass physics not crash your computer, look at Far Cry 2's fire and grass physics and try not to be black pilled on this...

We got millions of colors and nothing to show for it!
Can be applied to so much more.

We got cameras for less than $1000 that can shoot 10bit, 5K video (that medium range PC's can chew through with no effort), stuff that looks so crisp a camera technician would think 30 years ago would be imposible. Yet we got only kike made nigger movies and retarded rap music videos. You think all this ugliness in the world is even worth filming in regular 1080p!? What a waste of resources and human brain power.

We got audio software that sounds so good, if I can be heretic for a moment... even better than old hardware! You got so many creative ways that old synths or traditional instruments can not compete with... yet we are only having nog beats and cheap sample pack pop music to show for it.

Modern tech has not made it so we utilize creativity, instead we just spam out more low effort shit that just got polished up to a "tolerable level" by fancy modern equipment. If you do decide to do that extra effort to actually utilize and push modern tech, you will only be overwhelmed with 100 others spamming low effort shit. Utilizing things to push tech today only has diminishing returns, because of this we will never see anything that will be of actual quality again, relative to available hardware.

It's not a mystery that we can't even have some nice icons anymore...

i ruined my foobar setup for 2 lousy stickers, thanks op

this is how i usually had it set up when i was an insufferable music nerd scrobbling to last.fm and making portable installs so i could keep track of play time

foobar2kkkkkkkkk.png

installing it out of the box i just go default because i like minimalism but you can spend dozens of hours making foobar really really autistic

i fucking love foobar

dicks out
