So, finally got around to installing the Vox Populi mod for V, and it will hold me over till VI gets expansions and a similar scope mod. Great mod, reintroduces a lot of IV's features and adds its own new ones, as well as AI fixes and other improvements. Combined with R.E.D, which is just a cosmetic mod that makes units look different depending on nation.
Agreed on those two mods plus whatever the one that adds the Enlightenment era between the mid and modern era.

So a new expansion for CIV VI was just announced. Rumors are that the new civs will be Sweden, Hungary, the Inca. the Ottomans, Mali, the Maori, Phoenicia, Canada and an alternative leader for France/England.

Best ways to play Civ 5?
I've been geting really into it lately, but it feels like the only victory I enjoy getting is the domination one.

I love doing a diplomatic victory by becoming world leader. You amass resources and gold. Be buddies with all the city states to get extra votes. Keep an eye out for city state quests and be generous with donations to them. You can often amass an army just from city state unit gifts. Use your wealth to buy the other world leaders' friendship. A lot of times you can pay another civ to go to war with someone on your behalf. I recommend Portugal or Greece for this. Or any other civ with gold/city state bonuses. It's really fun.

I seem to end up with a diplomatic victory most of the time. That or science. I find domination tiresome as I generally play on the largest map size.

My tactic is to buy up the city states using military units especially if those city-states are near aggressive Civs. If they go after the CS you can light them up and if they go after you the CS will light them up(assuming you are allied).

I've had CS's that I've armed end up taking cities.

Another fun one is playing Brazil and getting a cultural victory (france is also okay at cultural victories, but Brazil has a unique way to get it). Basically you wanna start near a jungle (don't cut them down, you need them for your Unique improvement) Basically build cultural wonders and Golden age wonders, micro manage your Great Works (i think there is a bonus for having different cultural's great works, you can also trade with other civs for great works so you have more great work diversity REMEMBER DIVERSITY IS OUR STRENGTH) Make sure to try to save as many Golden Ages as you can for the late game. There is probably a lot of other shit I am forgetting, but here are two good resources for learning more about it.

General Cultural Victory Guide
Brazil Specific Guide

I've always been pretty big on Domination victories myself but I like to branch out and try other ones like that. Science Victory is also fun, but is kinda drawn out, and if you are beating the other Civs that hard in technology it genrally is better to go ahead and use your superior Technology to wipe them off the face of the Earth, and remember if it's getting too Easy bump up that Difficulty, faggot. My highest I've ever beat it on Was Emperor, but I usually play at King or Prince because I suck

How different is 5 from 6?
Generally, all the Civs are pretty different from one another, I haven't played 6 yet (waiting for all expansions to come out + when it's cheap/when I can pirate), but I know going from Civ 4 to Civ 5 was bit of a learning curve for me, same for going from 3 to 4, and 1 to 3 - never played 2, though I know some people swear by it.

Is 6 good btw?

I tried it after one of the expansions came out. Didn't care for it. The AI still seems really dumb and the art style is off-putting in my opinion. Also the map size seems really small.

I've always preferred the cultural victory. It's like infesting the world with parasites.

Insert Israel joke here.
I kinda miss the way Culture worked in Civ 4, where you had to build up tons of it and have Three super bad ass cities, but Civ 5 culture victory isn't too bad (I also miss being able to take cities with culture that was the shit)

6 is OK. It's the only modern Civ game I played (other than Civ Rev). Cities take a lot of space as a lot of improvements and wonders have to be built in districts instead, and it's kind of like a board game, in that usually there can only be one unit on a tile at a time.

2 is the best though, especially with the Fantastic Worlds expansion. I like the Midgard scenario.

Science.

Science is OP in all the Civs. It basically causes you to snowball the other Civs the more you research. Focus on science, with a secondary focus on culture to get the Science culture tree, and you're going to win 99% of the time.

Even if someone goes to war with you, if you're two generations ahead of them, you're going to fuck them.
