When is she exposed for the unlikable fraud she is?
Exposed to who? she's the only one present in the story except maybe the Fox God, and MAYYYBE Shu, she's entirely inside her own head.
the one who exposes her, is Shadow Hinako.

It axes the Silent Hill tone and gameplay for Souls-like staple
Nigga, after Homecoming and Downpour, and the people here stanning it over this game, I never want to hear this fucking shit again, F certainly is a departure, but it has elements from SH1 that were simply not present in Homecoming and Downpour, which were hilariously awful games, that somehow, rate higher than this thing.
When is this hinted at? Never.
the whole fucking game, she lies by omission to herself/the audience, and only in repeated playthroughs do we see scenes making the Dad look like a better person that she already knew about.

Far too many brain cells are being wasted on discussion of f :story: Here's some mods that make the game slightly less bland.

Obviously there are gooner mods as well but they just look silly.

Exposed to who?
To the player. Ya know, like Jason was?
Like Heather’s fears were?

Homecoming and Downpour
I have never used these games as an example of praise, and clearing the bar over HC and Downpour is like declaring yourself a success because your life is better than iDubbbz’s or Chris-Chan’s.

and the people here stanning it over this game
I. Am not. Stanning it. Nigger.
Not once. Stop bringing this up on me.

the whole fucking game
Not once does she get comeuppance.

We ARE shown this, Shadow Hinako goes over this with 'herself', and the entire game is about her hypocritical and conflicting nature, she is literally the central focus, so much so the fact that a Fox God wants to intermarry into her bloodline is a side plot.
Hinako is so full of herself she thinks her marriage is tearing off her arm and stitching a new one on, cutting off her face, ect.

Not once does she get comeuppance.
Comeuppance for WHAT exactly? her actual actions "in the real world" are negligible to all outside parties, she even went with the marriage up to the day of, all the conflict and problems, at least most of them, are internal, only Shu is aware of just how mentally ill Hinako is, and is the only one who understand her enough to see it, hence his desperate plot to try and fix her with the Drug, as it allows self reflection.. and if you do the true ending, it works.

I think people need to have it hammered in, all the events depicted in this game, are things Hinako felt, or believed or wanted to say or do, or have others say and do to her, she wanted her friends to tell her the truth and just talk about their issues, they never did, she wanted to live out her life and do all the things she wanted to do as a free bird, but she never did, Shadow Hinako brings up her darker aspects in that she strung Shu along, despite her Shadow (Jungian that is) knowing full well that he loved her always, Shadow Hinako is also the one willing, able, and happy to go along with the marriage, and is the one who "infects" Hinako's fog world with the Monsters and Spider Lily imagry, signifying death, as in, Shadow Hinako is trying to "Kill" Hinako, and replace her as the dominate force in her, so that she can grow up in a way her internal self desires.

I'm not done with shf but I guess I'm close to the end so I'll drag my feet to ending 1 and watch the rest on youtube, I wanted to like it but the game so far is really losing me in the second half, after the school it's not scary when you only deal with nonstop combat also all that shit with the fox powers and the rinko bossfight with the long monologues was retarded now I get why people call this an anime game. To think this sold really well and got praise which could shape the franchise's future is a scary thought itself.

Didn't you say you didn't like the game or something? Because you are defending it really hard for no reason. If you don't like it, why do you care if other people supposedly misinterpret it? You need to quit, you're sitting up the thread with talk of a game most of us hate.

Saying that Silent Hill, especially 1 isnt action horror while RE is, is a ridiculous take. Play RE1 and then play SH1.

Going further in SH your knives do damage. In RE1 zombies take 5 to 8 shots to take down, and some enemies dont die. Which is actually more frightening, the power of knives or the uselessness of the pistols?

Shit and then at the end Hunters can one shot you so its a "do I risk fighting or do I try running". SH1 doesn't have that, its just mood.

Edit: and I ain't dissing SH1, I prefer it quite a bit over RE1.

That's why the Seal of Metatron doesn't work in 3, Claudia doesn't believe it has power over her god (a manifestation of her delusions) so it doesn't do shit when Vincent tries to use it.

If muh ritual shit were real, the seal would work on its own. The game literally uses Vincent's failure to drive this home.
It's funny you brought this up because I was wondering why the Seal didn't work a few days ago. I personally took it for awhile as "you have to have existing spiritual power for it to work," but this makes more sense.

Presumably if the real Alessa tried to use it it would work because she believes in it and has the spiritual power to back that belief up.

I don't care if people hate the game, I care that they accurately hate it.
and yes, I do not particularly care for the game, its passable, and I don't actively hate it like Homecoming and Downpour but that's about it.

I just don't like when people falsely present themes and plot points and then hold that up on why its bad/they don't like it, it means they simply do not understand the story, or more likely purposefully choose to interpret it that way out of spite.

This game is just too uninteresting for me to even see it through the one time. Combat sucks, exploration sucks, puzzles suck and I don't care about the plot either. Good job Konami, another home run!

I'm kind of having this problem now as well. The game isn't challenging and I'm already bored of it. I dunno if I'll see it through to the end.

Then it shouldn't matter to you. I know we're all autistic here, but goddamn, tone it down a bit. All you're doing is repeating yourself at this point to people who don't give a shit.

everyone here hates it because it isn't set in Silent Hill, and they think Hinako is an endorsed Protagianost, and not an unreliable narrator who is also not a good person.

I can't state enough that having an axe to grind because it isn't set in the town proper is retarded, especially when people were then holding up fuckin DOWNPOUR above it, a game where you go to a "Silent Hill" so fundamentally impossibly different than the one from SH 1-3 that its now Chicago instead of a small town resort local, meaning they think THAT one is good because its set in "absolutely fucking not" Silent Hill, but this one set in a foggy village is bad because it doesn't even try and lie to you about it being a spinoff.
I hate it because:

All this kvetching over the retarded plot when playing it is a chore. It makes SH2remake look like gaming's Dostoyevsky.

Chris did not found the B.S.A.A
In 8 he's called one of the founding 7.

Anyways, gonna stick to shitting on the new game. One of the things that amplified my disappointment with f is that it legitmately gave me hope for a more interesting story half way through.
At one point another character says "Hinako is dead, accept it!" and it felt like so many opportunities opened up. Especially since it came after a note about 3 children dying in the river, and just before the middle school level where the game REALLY wants you to learn some of the girls were jealous of a girl on the track team. Wonderful, I thought. Maybe the OG Hinako was supppsed to be wed to the gods (a euphemism for sacrfice) like her sister, died early, and we're playing a girl brainwashed into being the new Hinako to fix the sacrifice ritual. That would explain everyones weird behavior! And the brainwashed girl might be okay with it since she was so jealous of the real Hinako, and Shu is doing it to have his old friend back! The altar world is a mental landscape, the fox guy is a manifestation of the brainwashing based on the head priest, and the doll is her old psyche resisting. Not a bad plot. But no, instead none of those plotlines actually go anywhere, Hinako is just having a bad trip, and the fox guy is someone only foreshadowed 95% of the way through the game.

Like, I get people hate Homecoming. They should. But that game actually had an interesting premise: what if you promised the devil your first born but you fuck up and kill the wrong person? Hell, the game's answer (all the sacrificed children come back and kill the whole town) was pretty cool. Having this game explore a different answer (recreate the sacrifice with a different person) would've been a cool redemption of the concept. We could've gotten deep dives on the idea of how societal pressures could make people want to be someone else, even of it costs them everything.

I would have vastly preferred the above or anything else really over what we got because the current topic the game is handling (Showa Japan era gender roles in marriages) is so niche, so specific, and honestly so tone deaf that it beggars belief how it got through the concept phase. Japan and most of the developed world is going through a loneliness epidemic right now. Releasing a game about the horrors of marriage nowadays is like having a silent hill about the horrors of obesity during a famine.

We ARE shown this, Shadow Hinako goes over this with 'herself'
What a fucking Mary Sue-ass copout.
She forgives herself and self-therapies.

This is why she isn't accepted like James. She is never confronted for her prepubescent zoomer views nor goes on a redemption/maturity arc in any ending.
Every ending is only bad/ok for those around Hinako. Hinako makes it out fine every single one.

That all said, I'm done arguing this. Between your strawman that Downpour & Homecoming are shit thus this elevates f and me shitting up the thread with something neither you nor I will yield on, it's done.
