I honestly prefer Downpour, Homecoming, Shattered Memoriers and even Origins to f. At least I finished all of those. This is the first game in the series where I have zero drive to push forward. Beyond the fact that this game has nothing to do with Silent Hill except for some auditory details that may as well be homages, it is also generally uninteresting and not scary at all. Goofy looking japanese statues just make me think of something like Nioh and the interpersonal drama of some japanese students in the oriental boonies doesn't particulary capture my imagination.

Downpour also has nothing to do with Silent hill, it isn't even "really" set in Silent Hill, as the town is now far too big, far to urban, and many other retardations.
Downpour is fundamentally an awful game, not just a Silent Hill game, you can rate it higher than F to be hyperbolic, but all the gripes about F, all of them, bad or good, still put it above fucking Downpour, which JUST for the Magical Mail Negro alone, is worse.

Homecoming has a seperate problem where its backstory is a mega fucking retcon to the setting and it seems to be set in the "Movie" version of Silent Hill, as the town is apocalyptic for the brief time you go to it, and now a family has to sacrifice children to the "Town" (??) or else the Shit Gets Rusty force will "get" them, despite Alessa's power going wild couldn't have been more than 18 years prior, tops, and somehow Sheperd's Glen's families have been doing this for decades.

But I'm told that these massive fuck up games are way better, by no means is F very much a good game or a fuckin Silent Hill game, but its still baseline not laughably retarded like Downpour, or sets out to try and retcon the series to be like the Movies like Homecoming.
Do I need to post pictures of the Clown Prisoner Enemies from Downpour, do we need to go there?

Maybe the "F" stands for "Food", becasue the game is always spoonfeeding you the subtext! Bravo, Konami!

obviously not enough since most people's retarded takeway is "Men bad" or "LOL Feminism" like fucking retards.

My take is the game should be MORE Heavy handed and explicit to the players.
Stop sperging out about it. God forbid anyone disagree with your interpretation of a game you don't even like. :story:

lol at the idea that Hinako makes it out fine in every ending when one has her on a drug fueled rampage likely to be turned into Swiss cheese by police officers, another has her screaming about how she doesn’t want what’s happening and then one where she’s abducted by aliens. Ignoring the joke ending there’s an even split between what could be considered good for her.

wrong, Metatron is an Angel, it doesn't answer Vincent's call because he's a filthy sinner who has not absolved himself before God.
Personally I'm in the "town making rituals work" camp. My evidence would be SH2 - James is unaware of the cult and its teachings, so his experience in the town does not include any of it. As for the cult's religion, I think it's real paranormal stuff they observed but mixed with a lot of ideas they borrowed from local pagans and from Christianity to explain the paranormal and build a cohesive religion around it.

I honestly prefer Downpour, Homecoming, Shattered Memoriers and even Origins to f.
I have a soft spot for Shattered Memories. I appreciate trying something fresh like the psychological profiling stuff, even if the experiment ultimately fails.

I appreciate how it utilized the wiimote in actually interesting ways and the therapy sessions, while a bit on the nose, added an interesting dimension to the storytelling. Worst part by far were the chase sequences in the ice dimension but overall I'd much rather revisit ShatMem than any other nu-hill.

Yeah, I get why they made them (SH needs to put the character in some kind of danger, I don't think it would work as a walking sim) but they were not fun to play. I think Downpour-style "infinite runner" sequences would work better as action sections for SM.

Well at the very least all of those games take place in Silent Hill at some point in the game. Funny enough, even Silent Hill 4 has a part where you’re in Silent Hill. These games completely being separate is a new phenomenon.

again, they don't, Homecoming takes place in what can be described as "Someone who saw the Movies" take on Silent hill.
Its apocalyptic, abandoned, full of monsters, and has no "real world" where people are going about their day, the actual real world is just a nightmare land, its also too big and too industrial to actually be anything like SH 1-3's Silent Hill.

Downpour also isn't set in Silent Hill, its set in New England/Chicago hybrid, complete with a big ass mechanical raising bridge and a Big Ben sized Clocktower.
I have to ask, is slapping the name "Silent HIll" on the outskirts "Now Entering" roadsigns enough? when it doesn't visually look anything like the town, nor have the same vibe at all?

Played through Silent Hill 2 again. To me, this is one of the few games you can call a masterpiece. The sounds, the music, the story, and the dialogue. The game looked so good on a LED Steamdeck. The game is so good that no remake can improve on the game,

Agreed and no amount of ray-tracing and yellow paint can convince me that the remake is good.
